my puppy (almost 12 months old) is still having toilet training issues. she is pretty
good, in the fact that she will stand at the door if she wants to go outside. the only
problem is that she sleeps inside, and during the night sometimes if she needs to do a
poo (and sometimes a wee), then she will just go somewhere on the tiles in the lounge
room or hallway etc
she wont make a sound and "ask" to be let outside, so i usually wake up at least once a
week to find a nice surprise on the tiles waiting for me
I have never punished her for going inside, and she regularly gets a treat if she goes
outside while I'm watching her. I have tried changing her meal time from night-time to
morning-time, but this doesn't really make a difference.
Has anyone got any ideas for how I can achieve the following:
1) Alter her eating habits so she doesn't have the urge to go to the toilet at night
time (while I am sleeping)
2) Train her to "ask" to go outside if she needs to go to the toilet. I would rather
wake up and let her out if she needs it than wake up to find a smelly poo etc
I look forward to hearing from someone Thank you
