  1. Stunning dogs - Maynard James Keenan (lead singer of TOOL and A Perfxet Circle) owns a Dogo Argentino and a Cane Corso. They help guard the winery :)
  2. My ex and I split the two dogs up. I kept Brembo, he kept Sierra. After we separated, we lived in the same home for a further four months. During that time we started separating the dogs for walks and bedtime. The night before I left I sat in the spare room and bawled at the thought of leaving Sierra. It still upsets me to think about her. My ex and I had agreed to send regular updates about the dogs via email. Once I was out of the home though he refused to send anything or let me see her. I know she is well taken care of and loved by him but if I had of known he would cut me out like that I would of taken both dogs. I regret leaving her.
  3. Yep, we are watching captain America....he just stole my blanket though...bastard lol
  4. Grew up with a miniature poodle and a red ACD. I never bonded with the poodle but Jessie the ACD and I bonded and became inseparable (she was my stepfathers dog). I will never own another ACD though as there will never be another one like Jessie. I always had a thing for "boofy" looking dogs. When it came time to find a dog for my ex and I, we want looking at the RSPCA and came home with what we thought was a mastiff rotty mix. Turns out he is more likely a lab staffy mix, both breeds that I'm not a huge fan of lol. I love my boy and that will never change but his breeds were certainly not my first choice! My ex and I also bought a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Sierra. He kept her in the seperation. As a result, I just don't think I could get another ridgey My future breeds will be a Great Dane or when I'm older and need something a little smaller, hopefully a French Bulldog or a Boston Terrier.
  5. This article is only about dogs who are outside 24/7, not in the OPs case of just when she isn't at home so it isn't really relevant. The dogs are not going to get anymore companionship being left inside alone :p When I'm at home the back door is open and Brembo can come and go as he pleases. I'm home sick today and he has spent most of the day on the couch with me but has also taken himself outside and sunned himself on the deck. Fluff - I don't know if you have misunderstood your trainers or they have just given you terrible advice. I don't see why your puppy can't spend anytime outdoors. What breed of dog is so precious that it can't spend anytime outdoors?
  6. Brembo is outside during the day whilst I'm out. If I go out at night I lock him in the house (lounge, kitchen, dining area).
  7. Through a company. One quote was double that. The other quote was around $1000 and I had one quote via road that was approximately $400 but would take 4 days.
  8. I wouldn't enter. I'd call and get you to come and walk me in. After the dogs had gotten to know me a few times and seemed to like me, I'd probably walk in unaccompanied.
  9. I just paid $640 to ship a 32kg dog from Hervey Bay to Footscray - that unfortunately was the cheapest quote I could get. Ah well, he's here now and it was worth it :)
  10. I was lucky with Brembo - we used to dress him up in my Ex's tshirts as a laugh and he loved the attention. Plus he loves being covered up with a blanket at night. So when I bought a coat for him he thought it was awesome! I just hold it up now and he pops his head through the head hole and waits for me to do up the belly strap. I would use treats and praise to traln them to accept the coat or mayber extra blankets in their beds instead?
  11. I have a reactive dog. I love him but he is a turd. He was fine with the dogs on one side of a property we lived at, yet hated the dog on the other side and used to fence fight with it. While we were home he wouldn't do it as he got told off for doing it. As it was a self rewarding behavior he would do it when we weren't there and it was hard to police. So we double paled the fence. He couldn't see the dog he hated, problem solved. Either block the view and therefore the temptation to fence fight or remove your dog from the situation (ie put the dog inside your house when you are out).
  12. A male mantle Great Dane with the temperament of a rescue Dane that I fostered a couple of years ago Dozer. Such a gentle boof head. I still miss that doofus. I love my Brembo, but I would gladly trade his issues.
  13. Brembo chose me over my ex. When we got him as a pup he just always naturally gravatated towards me for attention, reassurance etc. The relationship we have is just different to the relationship he has had with my ex or my parents. One look from me can have him doing the happy dance or stop him firmly in his tracks. Sierra definitely chose my ex. She loved me but it took her 2 years to decide that I was ok and she wasn't going to off me at the first chance she got. I miss her (its been 18 months since I last saw her) but I know she is with her heart person.
  14. Last time I left Brembo was for 7 weeks. When I got home it was like he almost didn't believe I was really there. He usually gives me licks when I get home and enthusiastic tail wags (from work or the supermarket etc) but this time he just walked over and buried his head into me and sighed. He was then very clingy for the next week - had to have some part of him touching me whenever we were in the same room. When he arrives next week it will of been 5 weeks since we saw each other last. I miss him terribly - he is currently getting spoilt by my mum and my younger sister :)
  15. Delta is gorgeous :) I am so in love with Digby though I've always had a soft spot for the big man :)
  16. Amazing pics Huga - I love the one where the sun has lit up his ears and his eyes are closed. It's adorable
  17. My ex and I had a car theme going. So we had a Doberman rescue that came with the name of Koda and we changed it to Koni after the suspension. Brembo the lab x staffy RSPCA mutt is named after Brembo brakes. Sierra the Rhodesian Ridgeback was named after the Ford Sierra Cosworth. Her registered name is Honeycreek Lady Cosworth, call name Sierra. Any future pets of mine will be named after book characters or song/band names.
  18. Ams from Peiradise used to take in the occasional mastiff. I don't know if she still does. She hasn't been online for a while due to Internet issues so it might be best to call her instead.
  19. My friend has contacted the relevant people with the information she has. :)
  20. Have sent her a message, will let you know as soon as I get the details.
  21. A chocolate male with blue eyes was found at beaver rock on Saturday. Apparently the "owners" were found. The owners had the mother of the litter plus 3 other pups. The choc boy supposedly went walkabout 2 days prior and they hasn't looked for him as they thought that he'd be either hit by a car or bitten by a snake *i say bullshit* I can find out the details if you like. It was my workmates father that found and returned the littermate.
  22. A cup of Royal Canin A quarter of my ham and salad wrap A small rawhide chew Half of my salada with cheese He is getting spoilt at the moment because I have to eat to take my medication but I'm not all that hungry so he keeps getting some of my meal.
  23. If I haven't been able to get their dry food for whatever reason (RC) I have bought whatever the most expensive supermarket kibble is and fed them that. Otherwise they have had nights where I raided the cupboards/fridge/freezer and they got a mish mash of frozen veg, pasta and whatever meat I had in the freezer. Canned food or dog roll was an absolute last option for me. Sierra had a sensitive stomach and things like that used to set her off.....oh god the farts lol
