It's part of the Augustine Approved range... You can look them up or refer to a previous thread (created by Airedaler I believe). Lots of really wacky claims from that guy, so I'd personally wouldn't purchase his products.

List Of No Kill Pounds In Sydney
fbaudry replied to dogslife's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Agree with What Powerlegs wrote... Not sure where you are dogs life; Sydney Dogs and Cats home is indeed the impounding facility for 11 councils and whilst they aim to have a low kill rate, they are definitely not a no kill pound. I don't think there's such a thing. Only a rescue group who have a stringent screening process for their intakes could claim to be no kill. -
From past experiences they only tell there will be a delay after you've paid... That's why I stick to Natural Pet Store now! Yes Pookinuk did that to me too. Very annoying! Pookinuk have done that to me too, without explanation for missing items in my order. I don't buy from then anymore. For those who have paid and then been advised that there is no stock. Ask for a refund. To take your $$ when they can't deliver the order is very bad business practise. I agree.... And holding a whole order because one item is out of stock is also bad business practice.... I can only praise the Natural Pet Store in terms of communication, reasonable prices, packaging and speedy deliveries.

Here's the first one that came to my mind: http://www.goodog.com.au/about-us Otherwise you can do a search based on your postcode on the link below; all these people will be Delta trainers and have a cert IV in companion animals services. Careful socialisation is something they'll be mindful of http://www.dpdta.com.au/trainers/browse/category/1/state/NSW

Interesting choice of winner...

Thank you for that link JulesP; I went onto the individual brands website and always believed they were completely independent brands. Not quite as straightforward as finding out who's owned by Mars and P&G

My feeling is that the supplement (combined with a more natural/raw diet) might help support the immune system and assist with skin issues, digestive problems etc... In view of the sheer wackiness of the opinions exposed on the AA site, I'd be very reluctant to support that brand; it might be worth looking at more legit supplements if you feel you need them? I can vouch for Vets All Natural health booster and skin supplements, and at least we know they've been designed by a professional who knows what he is talking about.

I would stay clear of BH for cats.... There have been quite a number of cases of urinary track infections and crystal blockages after cats were switched to that food. And the company wasn't forthcoming at all when some owners tried to bring up the issue.

How To Get My Dog To Listen To Other Dogs
fbaudry replied to Leah82's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
One more thought maybe; a lot of communication is done through subtle body language and I know Collie is going blind. Maybe his visual impairment prevents him from reading visual cues and adds to his confusion? -
They'll probably all be gone by the time I can make it to Aldi. But the dog beds and cat caves really look like the Petbarn Animates range, only for a fraction of the price! For those who've bought them, do you reckon the qualities is similar?

It's a shame no one around here seems to stock the dry food... Coles and Wollies have the treats, cans and trays.... The only place that seems to have the treat straps is the Reject Shop, of all places, and I found the dry at BigW a year or so ago, never to be seen again... Not sure why they aren't more widely stocked as I really like their range of products as a back up (eg the canned food to make a batch of frozen kongs)

Any reason why Scott can't get bones? They would most likely improve his stools (as well as provide calcium, assist with dental hygiene etc)
-
+1.... I'd be worried about them running together unsupervised when the owners aren't home. Then feed them in crates. Why are you punishing the older dog for a perfectly natural response to a younger dog getting near her food? God I hate Cesar Milan sometimes. Thank you for putting that more eloquently (and calmly) than I could.... There's been an increase in the number of alpha rolling dog owners at training lately; I wonder if there's a new series of that stupid show
-
Totally agree with getting a reputable trainer in, and having them crated when you cook / when they have a food dispensing toy / for meals etc... Is there a way they could be separated during the day? I'd be worried the resource guarding could escalate over anything (a stick, possum droppings, a dead mouse....) Have you spoken to Fritz' breeder? It would be interested to know if there is a propensity to resource guarding in his lines, as he seems to have been displaying the behaviour from a very young age.

My Labrador Riddick Is The Happiest Dude Around
fbaudry replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
Gotta love a laid back Lab! He's very handsome Did something happen to his left ear? He seems to carry it in a funny way -
I must confess I haven't been since they moved from Centennial Park to Homebush Were there lots of interesting displays / exhibitors / products?

Sorry OP for joining/derailing your thread but I thought it might be easier than start a new one... I have a little terrier mix (maybe Tenterfield / JRT), who is short coated and really feels the cold. The fact he had a few bouts of muscular myositis probably aggravates the issue :-( Even though we are in Sydney, and it isn't supposed to be that cold, the house gets pretty cool and isn't heated. He wears fleece coats (Hamish McBeth) which I feel don't really do a good job of covering his neck, loins and thighs especially when he's curled up in a ball. Any particular make / brand recommendations for a small dog? Also, do you think it would be an overkill to love it on him all day and night (except for the 2 hours of walk exercise he gets), as he is very sedate at home (and isn't great at going under the blankets unless someone holds them for him)? The house temperature is around 14-15 in winter.

Jealousy How To Deal With It
fbaudry replied to HappyCamper's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Just out of curiosity Nekhbet, would you call that behaviour resource guarding (the human - or human's attention - being the resource)? -
Brighstar, I'm French and happy to help with translating / liaising with the breeder if that helps. They are a reasonably popular breed in France (there were a few in my immediate family) but can be a lot of dog (just like any large working breed really)

Dumb question but how do you feed the kidneys to your dogs? When I got my hands on some at the supermarket (vacuum sealed), they had a very strong stench of, well, urine I tried to rinse them, bug the dogs wouldn't touch it, raw or boiled and all I achieved was stink up the house ETA was there a thread recently re green tripe in Sydney? I can't find it now (just realised they may have breached rules by advertising?)

Foods/supplements For Cancer Affected Dogs
fbaudry replied to SilverHaze's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Similar story to yours Dogmad; Olaf had a toe removed because of Melanoma and shortly after developed other issues (ruptured cruciate ligaments, chronic joint issues). The vet put down these problems to arthritis, until a CT scan showed bone cancer spread through his spine etc. he was given from a few weeks to a couple of months to live, with only pain relief. I tried my best to find other options, changed him to a completely home made diet and got a lot of help from the lovely couple at http://www.dogcancer.net.au , both in terms of diet and a huge number of herbal supplements. He lived for another 26 months, much to our regular vet and the specialists at North Shore hospital's amazement. -
Thank you Mita! She's very special indeed; probably biased but I love the breed to bits... True gun dogs but very versatile little dogs, and perfect house dogs; my first cocker was an older rescue from Sydney Dogs Home and was just wonderful I'll try to attach a few pics of Miss Penny https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151726273621526&l=0d92a0ada2 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151437374551526&l=edcfa5bf4f https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151230140941526&l=aaec61bbb7
