I've purchased Adaptil refills and Sentry collars from them (last time probably over a year ago). Never had an issue.

That's the one! Phew..... All good With the vinegar rinse, do you mix it with warm water Blinkblink? I haven't had much luck in the past as I have 2 princesses who really don't like cold / room temperature liquids on their skin. I was thinking of adding some really hot water to it and apply with the squeeze bottle?

Damn..... Mine says anti dandruff / anti itch

Timely thread, and plenty of new tips... Grabbed a bottle of Selsun blue tonight :) I've been using the QV oil diluted, as well as Alpha Keri lotion, following our dermatologist vet recommendations. Re bedding, what do you use Sarspididious? I'm not sure the bedding itself is to blame, or dust mites (actually living in bedding, carpets etc). But I like the idea of switching to cotton, or some sort of more natural fibres. 6 dog beds here, covered in fleece blankets that are washed weekly. I like that they're cheap, and wash and dry quickly but they might not be ideal, so I'd be keen to try something better.

My 2 cents worth, although all the main points have been covered. I have 3 crates, one of each type (soft, wire and plastic). Plastic transport crate (PP40): it is permanently set up in the living room. I used it for toilet training my spaniel as a puppy, and is now used for meal time inside. Penny will sometimes take herself for a nap inside during the day (as does the cat), and waits in there if she thinks we're about to leave without her (as that's where she'll get a treat). Very easy to clean. Soft crate: we mostly use it in rental accomodation, and sometimes at home in winter. It seems to be the preferred snoozing spot then. It was a cheap one but is still going strong (but I'm lucky to have non destructo dogs). It could possibly get quite hot in warm weather. Wire crate: lives mostly in the car nowadays and used at training (and trials if only I could get my act together). I like the fact you can cover / uncover it as much as you like to create airflow and work on impulse control games. It can be "noisy" if you have a dog moving around (but I think that's just me being over sensitive to some metallic noises). I also think the noise, combined with the fact they're slightly "shaky" that puts off my sensitive little terrier. I've seen the vebopets ones and would definitely get one of these if i was to buy another one. I got mine from K9Pro and it started rusting shortly after I got it despite only being used indoors, and it feels a bit flimsy to be honest. But as you stated earlier, you might not need a crate if you're never going to close Malcolm in (although it could be a handy skill to have). My cocker fits (tightly!) in a Snooza igloo, and there are plenty of choices when it comes to enclosed beds, like the gummi pets range: http://www.gummipets.com/collections/houses

Holistic Vet In Sydney's South West
fbaudry replied to DZaak's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Not holistic but I'd definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist vet. I really recommend Dr Linda Vogelbest at SASH. -
Fingers crossed it agrees with her.... It's really hard to see them unwell (and they must feel so miserable too)

My dermatologist vet put us onto this food; not sure it would work for you but might be worth looking into? http://prime100.com.au/Pages/Our_Range/Single_Protein_Diet___SPD___-_Vet_Recommended/Sk-D200__Crocodile_and_Tapioca.aspx

Thank you for that Ptolomy! I'm in the eastern suburbs, so not technically close to Castle Hill, but getting there isn't out if the question to save some money. I'm meant to check with the clinic in Russell Lea too (more open to alternative / natural therapies)

Just bumping this, and hoping FhRP will see it... Vet is quoting me again around $300 for titre testing, and is apparently unaware of an Australian lab doing it. Wondering if someone could forward me more details so that I could pass them on to my vet? Maybe I should look at changing vets, it's just that I like having one nearby (hate driving and Sydney traffic!)

Need Advice On Where To Buy Interactive Toys/puzzles
fbaudry replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've bought quite a few from here; great range of products: http://www.politepaws.com.au/store/ No idea what postage to Queensland would be though -
Sydney City Area - Mobile Dog Groomer Needed
fbaudry replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not a mobile groomer but Dogs@Play on Crown street (up the road from Darlinghurst) have a groomer who does a pretty good job (she does hand strip terrier breeds when required and clips nicely a lot of small fluffy dogs). -
Hey Lyn, I'm a volunteer at the SDCH and also live in the eastern suburbs (Surry Hills). Currently away but back on November 30th if you still need someone to get your donation there. Any help is much appreciated at the shelter!

Yes, it was enlightening, but I was disappointed the lady shown at the end feeding raw had two seriously overweight dogs I know.... Agreed with her views but gosh, they looked terribly unhealthy. I wish they'd picked someone else!

Snap Trifecta! Was about to post the link... Whilst I have the utmost respect for the profession, I agree there should be a higher level of disclosure...

Thank you Melinda!

I don't mean to hijack this thread but thought it might be easier than starting a new one. Has anyone used this company: https://australianpettreatcompany.com.au/cart.php Specifically they're one of the few ones stocking Roo tendons and they're very attractively priced too. Wondering if there's a catch to this!

Am I right in thinking this is not to be given on a permanent basis? I think I read somewhere it can affect vital organs if fed long term. But of course I can't find my source, Grrrrrr.....

If you want a large cushion type bed for Ziggy, the MollyMutt duvets are pretty neat too! I've stuffed ours with old pillows, doona etc (thinking having their people scent in there would be nice)... It's my 2 place to be whilst I cook and to catch the sun during the day. So far, I've found it easy to vacuum (medium spaniel hair and short white terrier hair) and wash...l

Female Staffie Face Licking Male Cocker
fbaudry replied to littledrover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Agree with all the others.... Keep the dogs separated at all times, for your own dog's sake. The way I understood it is that the OP pet sits in people's home, so the staffs is actually on her own turf (not that it makes that behaviour acceptable). This sort of arrangement would be stressful for all dogs involved... -
Thank you Ladies! Denali, that's quite a seal of approval from your guys for the HH! I think Pet O are now stocking them in NSW, might go and have a look. Their cat size seems large enough for my guys (cocker and terrier mix). And who knows, the cat might like it too! I like the idea of high walls to make it cosy (and I know my terrier is quite partial to them), and also to give them a bit more protection in my cool and drafty little house. My Kramar beds (our downstairs day beds ) are still going strong after 10 years, with the help of an extra mat and fleece blanket to make them more comfy. For upstairs, I stupidly splashed out on Dog Gone Smart donut beds. The mat in them is as flat as a pancake, and the covers are really a pain to remove and put back on. They do the trick with plenty of extra padding, but were a bit of a dissapointnent. I like the look of the Fuzzyard ones, but as you said, I've seen them pretty flat soon (and not the easiest to wash either I believe). I think Snooza might be the brand I should look at for high walls...

I saw the pods at a couple of events (APDT conference, pet expo etc) but lucky for my wallet, there were no covers I really liked! For those of you who have them, how do they fare with regular use? Do they stay fluffy and supportive or do they tend to go flat? I've been eyeing the Henry Hottie ones too. I'd have to use them as inserts in my two's old Kramar beds. My guys seem to like soft beds with sides to curl up against or rest their heads on. Speaking of which, I think I remember seeing a picture of Ziggy in one such bed with high walls; would that be right TSD? And if so, would you remember the brand?

Following with interest....
