In Loving Memory Of "odin" - Alpinarc Fantom King
GSDhandler replied to EISHUND's topic in Rainbow Bridge
i've been dreading this thread. i lost it.... now i am all soggy and salty. like all SA DOLers who met him, i adored Odin and i just cant help but think of the timing. so brave of him to have gotten that snake. he knew his job, and he made his sacrifice to protect those he adored. more hugs than you can handle V, and pass some onto your OH and little girl as well. and to you LMWS, who was amazing enough to save him as squirt that i could meet this amazing specimin of a dog who has changed my mind on white shepherds forever. :mad :) to Odin, i hope your journey was not an awful one, thinking of your master, and knowing you did what you had to.:D to everyone like me bawling their eyes out. -

awwww, so sweet. looks like mischief, like my little girl did. she pulled up over half my garden, while i set ground rules with her. i agree wtih Nekhbet, she needs to be part o the pack, will also help you teach ehr right from wring, and wrong is pulling plants around. i taught my girl very quickly not to bark and cry if i left her outside, and now she doesnt care. but you have to teach her that barking and crying is not a way to get attention, and that pulling plants is a bad attention. sounds barmy, but i told the plant off, and she learned plants were evil. as for excerisse, she is still a tiny tiny baby, so too much excersise is when she has had absolutly enough, and is getting unhappy. i stopped my girl after she started getting really panty, and taught her "settle" which comes in handy when we have company now. -
cheers nekhbet. no, she is done teething. i think its just that my OH is useless when it comes to being stern. he has created a monster..... hmmmm, should i spray him with the vinegar too? and to bigben, i find the birds keep me perfectly awake, leading to no sleep and a grumpy me, especially after a bad night.

ok, i know that GSD are vocal, and all that. my girl had gotten out of crying and whining at night. recently she has started again. its as bad as when we brought her home, only now she has more volume. shes 5.5 mths. how do i discourage the crying. she doesnt need to toilet, or feed, she is just crying. i think its because my OH was reactiong at one point, and she learned it was positive. im at a wits end, and have found myself lobing my books across the room crying "shut up" just because i cant take it. if i just have to deal wtih it, advice on how to chill me out would be nive

German Shepherd Puppy Howling At Night
GSDhandler replied to Paul Joanne and FIZZ's topic in Puppy Chat
my little girl was the same, only she chewed the bed when we ignored her:) eventually she learned that howling for a wee was hte only crying she could do, and eventually she learned to hold her bladder. she has recently started up again for some reason, but back on topic... if its the same time, its needing a toilet. i didnt have one, but i wish i did, crate training might be a good way to go. and lastly.... where are the piccies -
i am so sorry. so young. so cute. how devastating that it was something so unexpected and unavoidable. he will be waiting for you at the bridge.
-
RIP snoop. its always good to remember the old days, when we have those friends we grew up with.....
-
RIP Zy. it seems so hard when it was paralysis tick because it seems so avoidable, and yet, we have to accept that sometimes it cant be avoided. she is free now though.

personally i feel royal canin, and chicken carcasses..... with some pureed pumkin to take care of the appeitie..... treat her every so often with some home made dog bickies my GSD is only 5 mths too) and then tlc . never used eagle pack before though.... sorry. Hills science diet isnt too bad though. the taste is good for fussy eaters. i wont touch advance though..... makes koda's tummy VERY upset. however each dog is different, and some have better results than others on different foods. and good on you ffor rescuing. want lots of piccies -
poor kangaroo. as said, at least its not suffering. and at least you are giving thought to it, some people dont even bother. they just get the dents taken out of thier car, and thats the end of it.
-
most of my troubles with koda were before her feral stage, as a few owuld remember, by my venting post a few months back now.most of the damage has been repaired and the certificates shall be replaced soon anyway. the only reminder is the reciepts got all the blood out of the shoes, thankfully. she had her first day at obedience. second youngest, and yet she was one of the better behaved. she got stepped on though, and i was ready to bop 2 dogs who got too growly with er. one off leash!!! and the other one was so big and unruly the owners coudlnt hold him i was not impressed.
-
i woke up this morning, to koda having ripped the place apart, and bled all over my training shirt, because she was trying ot get a very wobbly tooth out. had a go at my boxing gloves too. before anyone sayas, dont let her near them.... they were in a zipped up bag!!! the bag was sitting quite happily at the bottom of the stairs when i got up, with its guts everywhere  the shirt had to go....... looked pretty sus.... and i cleaned up the rest of it. tried to take her for a walk. she spent 5 minutes lunging. got home, she spent a few hours whining and running around like a nut. i know its natural.... doesnt make the feral stage any easier to deal with. i got the tooth by the way. she likes giving me her teeth once they come out.
-
to get my girl was a 2 hr drive, so i was nervous as alll buggery about car sickness. she didnt get any however, after a few weeks of always taking her in the car, she did get sick once. never again. wish i could help you out. my girl has always been ok with the car.

RIP little scruffy. some people just dont get it..... and now this poor thing has paid the price for it. i hope he finds someone a little more caring at Rainbow bridge

i am so sorry Lab. you did absolutly your best, and this seems no reward for your hard work. RIP Brodie. have fun playing with fun boys like harvey while you are waiting.
-
Rip Norb. run free with all the other little pups over rainbow bridge.

an alternative to chicken necks f your pup (or old hound ) like mine tries to swallow the damned things whole apart from freezing them is just to get turkey necks. i only just discovered it today, so thought i would share in case any one else is as slow as i am in the uptake.
-
hmmm, could you try tethering her to you while your home, just till she's got the hang of toilet training? may also help to build up her confidence. Leeburgh recommends it. but then there are a few things he does i would never do.... ETA you are doing really well. keep it up.

a lot of people told me when my shep was doing it to ignore her, which i found did no good at all. the toys helped a little, but the best thing was for me to clap twice which seems to be her cue to stop everything, and come sit by my feet....... i didint teach her that either......... slowly i managed to teach her by banging her favourite ropetoy on the ground that tail chasing was abd, and then she would come up and rescue her toy, and we would have to play fetch for 15 minutes. :D ill see if i can find the thread i had on this. ETA found it, here. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=140541&hl=

i used to use science diet, super coat and optimum. most went down well, i thought the science diet was great, till i found royal canin, i swear by the stuff, i have her on that with a half raw diet. she is thriving.
