That's hilarious! My Min Pin Jacques walks around while he poops too, we have dubbed it 'The Nomad'. While we are speaking of strange pooping rituals...my Min Pin Etienne has to back up onto a plant/bush in order to go! Weirdo. My Min Pin Remy does what I call a 'froggy stretch'. Sometimes he'll jump onto the bed, or a comfy surface and stretch all the way out while dragging himself forwards with his front paws. When he wants to play fight with me, he suddenly morphs into an ostrich and tucks his head down into the mattress and wiggles his butt at me. I swear he loves to be nibbled on too. He will also crab walk when I put a jacket on...until we actually start our walk and suddenly all is forgiven. They all have their quirks <3

Is this a brand of raw you recommend? I'm considering raw for my dogs but I honestly can't find enough hours in the day to make my own 'formula'.

Given that Panic apparently is allergic/sensitive to beef and chicken (and by default perhaps other poultry?) what would you substitute for the protein/meat aspect in a raw food diet?

Hi there, haven't been here for a while but a friend in Alaska is having trouble with her beautiful 1 year old Ibizan Hound 'Panic' who has an amazing amount of food allergies. At the moment she is saving up for an allergy test but in the meantime she is looking for kibble that would alleviate his issues. A little extra information; She informs me that at the moment he is on Taste of The Wild Pacific Stream formula and although it firmed up his stool (because potatoes) he is still very itchy. The next switch she is trying is Pioneer Naturals Grain-Free Whitefish Dry Dog Food. Gradual switch of course. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I have three Miniature Pinschers as some of you know, the oldest is turning 7 this year, the second is turning 6 in a week and the third is almost 3 years old. The older two, Remy and Jacques, are desexed but the youngest Etienne is entire. Now over the last year I've started noticing some worrying behaviour from Etienne and I'm not sure how to best manage it. He seems to be dog aggressive when he feels 'confined' - so on the leash, in the crate or if you pick him up when he's around a certain dog (friend's Jack Russell mix desexed male, though they met when they were both entire). It was mainly just growling and hackles and a stiff gait but the other day I took my boys to my parents house and when we were heading home I put both Remy and Etienne in the crate and they started going at it. I opened the crate to let them out and unfortunately someone got me on the end of my finger (I'm assuming Etienne but who knows). Now, I've determined that I will buy him a harness for the car because Remy and Jacques are more than happy to stay in the crate on car trips and never had any problems (and Etienne is very well behaved in the car on his own). At home they all seem very calm and on their best behaviour apart from Etienne's occasional posturing and 'warning' growl to Remy (but again, I'm not the best with dog body language so I'm unsure if he is being challenged by Remy or whether Remy is just being defensive) and they've never had a fight in the house. With my friend and her dogs well I suppose I don't have to take mine with me to visit her and vice versa although apart from Etienne being a grump our 'pack of five' works really well. Easily enough to take him for a walk on his own, walk on a beach where off leash dogs are allowed or move him away from any confrontations with other dogs when we are walking. Any other ideas or suggestions or advice?

Can I just ask why you think a Min Pin would be a more difficult breed?

You make a very valid point. It is still frustrating, however, only because it shows how obviously uneducated most of society is. I wouldn't consider myself an expert on dog breeds, so if I'm ever in any doubt I politely ask the owner 'what breed is he/she?' rather than crowing out my probably mistaken assumption. Actually, these comments I come across quite regularly have paled in comparison to what I'm experiencing on another forum I frequent at the moment... "I don't think ANY Pitbull is bad. Even aggressive dogs aren't bad, it's the people who made them that way. Whether it was their breeder or their owner and it isn't the dog or the breed who should be blamed, it's the humans." Edited because I am a complete numpty who can't read. Learn to read, me, you're an ADULT now. Or apparently you are. It's hard to tell sometimes. But yes I will say it particularly frustrates me when people don't even ask what my boys are, just say to their husband/friend/children; "Oh, look, Chihuahuas!"

There's negative and then there is rude, derogatory and so on. Simply Grand when you start a thread on something I doubt that you would find the type of response that Jed received acceptable. There's no need and no excuse for being obnoxious simply because you disagree with someone, argue your point sure, but don't do it in a way that belittles someone else with a different viewpoint. It's a wonder anyone posts anything these days. DOL has changed significantly in tone since I joined and not for the better. This is the most sensible thing that has been said all thread. I am honestly shocked and appalled by the animosity and self-righteousness evident in this thread, not to mention the deliberate misunderstanding of the OP. Same thing that always annoys me - that apparently I own Chihuahuas...I'm sorry they are clearly Miniature Pinschers. Also, every dog owner thread I find on the Internet is filled with these pompous know-it-alls who just want to argue about how they're right about everything. I don't even get acknowledged anymore, because forum regulars are too busy fighting with each other. Should of just stayed on dol :p

Min Pin ^^ My first grew up with a Koolie and I know someone on here has a Min Pin and Husky. They are very hardy, though stubborn. They are watch dogs, so they bark at strangers, but with training they can be stopped from becoming 'problem barkers'. Easy to groom, easy to feed. Tend to have a 'favourite' within the family but also love to spread the love around. Equally happy to chill out with you at home all day or go out on adventures!

:D Thanks I find puppy pile ups ALL of the time. They are snuggling in the dog drawer at the moment. They aren't as well trained as yours Nik, so I find it easier to take photos of them sleeping :D because they stay still that way ;)

What I'm hearing in this thread is that canine councils, the governing bodies who are meant to protect and police registered breeders, are not doing their job. This is perplexing to me because I would assume council members are themselves registered breeders with the knowledge and experience to know what they are talking about. Is this not the case? If it isn't, shouldn't well known, ethical registered breeders who have influence in the dog community be board members? Or is it too difficult/time consuming/political/expensive etc. to do this?
