  1. I have a Sony Alpha A350 and I love it. I bought the A350 twin lens kit the first week it was released last year. I agree, the image stabilisation in the body is excellent. With all due respect to those who say they would not consider anything else but a Canon or a Nikon, I find that the people who say this have never tried the latest Sony cameras, so they really don't know how far the Sony cameras have come. The Sony heritage is Minolta, which Sony bought. They have done huge amounts of research to develop their cameras, and they have won heaps of awards. They have an extensive range of excellent Carl Zeiss lenses and I am very happy with mine. I chose the A350 because I liked the 'Quick AF Live View' feature and the variable angle LCD screen. Many of the reviews say that Sony's Live View is the best in the industry and I think it is great. The A350 has won several Editor's Choice awards and it also won the EISA Award: European Camera 2008 - 2009. The EISA judging panel's comments were - I don't use Live View that often, but it is fantastic for taking a difficult shot where it is hard to look through the viewfinder. For example, I can hold the camera up above my head to take a shot, but still see what I am taking the photo of. I also love the fact that the camera is 14 megapixels. The A700 doesn't have Live View though, so that obviously isn't why you have chosen that particular model. NAO, if you have decided on a Sony, don't be put off by the Nikon/Canon brigade. Sony SLRs are great cameras and I know you will be thrilled with it when you start using it.
  2. Jed I am so sorry for your loss. Poppy sounds like she was a great little dog. Your wonderful tribute to her has made me cry. It is very obvious that you and Poppy had a very special bond. I will be thinking of you as you go through these lonely first days without her.
  3. I agree, it is probably the Wandering Jew (yes, persephone is correct, it is Jew). You need to get rid of it ASAP. Here is an information sheet about it and how to get rid of it - Wandering Jew Brianna gets dry skin if I don't look after it really well. I feed her Proplan Sensitive which has made a huge difference to her skin and coat. She also has a fish oil capsule every day (swallowed whole), and sardines once a week. I always bath her in Aloveen Shampoo and Conditioner and leave the conditioner on. Her skin is much better now, but she still bites and scratches occasionally just out of habit. You may find that Rodney will keep scratching and biting even after the cause is gone, out of habit like Brianna still does sometimes. When Brianna was a puppy I used to physically stop her from doing it by putting my hand on her muzzle and moving it away from where she was scratching, and saying, "Brianna, stop that!" or "No! Don't scratch!" She would stop. Now I just need to say either of those two things when she is biting or scratching herself and she will stop straight away.

  18. You are doing a great job Sway! More prefixes for you (all Cocker Spaniels) - Tarrendayle, Brightleaf, Bennadale Just a thought, so that you don't cop abuse from people when they have searched for a prefix, not found it and then not been given their choice by the ANKC when they apply, it might be good for you to put a disclaimer on the website to cover yourself. Something like - "Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of this list, the owners do not guarantee that every Australian prefix is listed. Nor do we guarantee that applicants will be granted their requested prefix by the ANKC simply because it is not listed as a current prefix on this site." Or words to that effect. There are some weirdos out there!
  19. Sorry Sway, just realised that you are putting breeds as well now. I already told you that my prefix is Bonnyleaf, my breed is Cocker Spaniels.
  20. I'm so sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose a childhood friend. Sounds like he lived a wonderful life though.
  21. I am so sorry for your loss. It must have been terrible for your parents, especially your mum, and for you. My thoughts are with you.
  22. Mine is Bonnyleaf. You would be able to get a lot from the breeders advertising on the DOL breed pages. Also the individual breed club advertising pages.
  23. Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this terrible news! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  24. Thank you so much everyone for your beautiful words. I knew the DOL community would understand. Your kindness and compassion has made me cry and has deeply touched the other members of my family. I am still very upset about Thomas. I have been crying again this morning. I have never had such a bond with any other bunny and I feel so guilty about what happened. He was such a beautiful boy. We have always had rabbits, for 25 years, since before we were married, but Thomas was special. Our three girl bunnies live outside in a hutch (more like a bunny condo) together, but Thomas lived in the house with us. We do have a new bunny boy now though; he arrived on Monday night. We weren't planning to get one this soon, but a friend who knew how upset I was contacted a breeder friend of hers. She had one bunny left from her latest litter and so we went to see him (I didn't want to hurt my friend's feelings). He was so gorgeous that we couldn't leave him there. He is absolutely adorable and is helping us to get over losing Thomas. He will never replace him, but he has made us smile the past couple of days. Here he is - We have called him Reilly. I am sure he and Thomas would have loved each other. Thank you again everyone for taking the time to write a comment. It means so much to me.
  25. I am absolutely devastated to have to tell you that my beautiful bunny boy Thomas died in my arms a few moments ago. I can't believe that he is gone. He was my best bunny, the most wonderful bunny I have ever had in 25 years of rabbits as pets. The worst part is that this morning he was well and happy. My husband decided to put Thomas and Cherry in the pen today out on the grass. Thomas was desexed, and the two of them loved playing together. They both had the same beautiful gentle nature. I was going out, and told him it was too hot and to bring Thomas inside. He was an inside bunny and was used to being in the cool house. He assured me he would, but by the time he brought Thomas in it was too late. When I arrived home he said Thomas wasn't well. He had heatstroke. I am always so careful with the bunnies, but I wasn't there. I am blaming myself because I should have brought him inside before I left, but I was running late. If I had he would still be alive. I rang a friend who is a bunny vet and did everything he told me to do. Cherry is fine, she is more used to the warmer days as she lives outside. We had put her back in her hutch with Lilly and Zoe before Thomas came inside. Thomas started to look a bit better this afternoon, but he was very wobbly. I was making sure he had fluids, had cooled him etc., but tonight he started to look terrible, and now he is gone. I am devastated at his loss. He was five years old, too young to die. I can't believe I will never cuddle my beautiful soft bunny boy again. My heart is breaking. My little button nose boy as a baby Goodbye my beautiful bunny boy. There will never be another bunny like you. I will never forget you!
