  1. lol! Surely those children serve the purpose of birthday snacks for that beast......
  2. Right which is why I said, IF the dog is stringently contained and so on. There are dog aggressive dogs around, they aren't evil, just have to be dealt with properly and with a degree of responsibility.
  3. with comments like that is it any wonder people don't report dog attacks? Saaaay what? I'm not having a go at your or anything, don't get so defensive. I'm just saying, yes you are personally involved in this situation, you have to determine if this is the dogs fault or the owners fault.
  4. I should have made myself clearer, you did the right thing obviously, in approaching the council and so on. Especially since the owner was nowhere to be found. And the dog might be dangerous (and no doubt is, being a DA dog). But now that it has happened, if the owner agrees to very stringent containment of the dog, perhaps neighbours, the council, owner etc can come to some sort of agreement that is in the best interests of the dog and the local area. That said if you wanted to move for having the dog put down, I can understand why. Sad situation all round.
  5. Maybe speak to the owner about better fencing etc. Try and sort it amongst yourselves? Not the fault of the dog that it was not properly contained...... Last thing you want is the dog being put down.
  6. No 2 door coupe option? This thread is racist against turbos.
  7. Both are great breeds......Dobes shed less, that is probably a plus point. Oh but if you get a GSD, you could call it Inspector Rex......so all is even again.
  8. Oh yeah those Staffies will kill you alright......be afraid of being LICKED to death!
  9. lol that pic is awesome. Are they lying down for a laugh......or are they actually hammered from their lark in the park?
  10. There are always going to be people who do not know how to train their dogs, or even consider them running free doing whatever in an off-leash park as being rude. Sure the problem needs to be fixed, but seriously, it isn't that bad. Also, sure if another dog gets in your dogs face, it is within its rights to warn the other dog to back-off. NB: My dog isn't allowed to do whatever, he is actually very disciplined off-leash, I'm just making general comments as to how the 'public' think.
  11. Man you guys whinge! Seriously. Dogs are dogs. Sometimes they behave bad, i assure you, nobody 'wants' their dog to be rude. Off-leash park= other off-leash dogs.
  12. Dog aggressive dogs are not necessarily also aggressive towards humans. Chances are the same dogs would have licked the baby. Some dogs are inherently dog aggressive, this is nature. If you have a dog aggressive dog, then it needs to be contained properly. Simple as that. maybe if the baby and mum had off been on their own with the owner the dogs would be ok, but im saying what if this baby had off been in amongst the smaller dogs and mum was somewhere else - hardly unlikely that would happen these days just a hypothetical, lots of what ifs, but the dogs on their own and baby out there amongst dogs what the outcome would have been, but like everyone else i do realise dog agressive and human agressive are completely different things. Oh okay. Your comment just implied that both are interchangeable.
  13. While it is true that the dog should be under control at times, we should also appreciate that not everyone has their dogs at a standard where the dog will not randomly approach others and recall on command. This is part and parcel of taking your dog to an off-leash park, I call it reasonable foresight. I am not saying it is right or wrong, but, it is to be expected, going to a park where a leash is compulsory is a good alternative if the above is of true concern to you.
  14. There is no guarantee, particularly when it comes to survival instincts and the fight or flight mechanism. You could go as far as saying that it is highly unlikely....and that is it.

  16. Small dog owners can be quite paranoid and you can't blame them with all the horror stories you hear. Although they shouldn't pick up their dog, this makes it more appealing for the other dog. My dog is not allowed to go up to any dog unless I either get a verbal or non-verbal sign from the other owner, he does like to play rough and is dominant. Also some dogs are scared of other dogs and if the owner is helping them overcome this fear, other dogs ''in their face'' doesn't really help the situation. Overall, I don't think you did anything wrong, neither did the small dog owner. Breakdown of communication and understanding IMO.
  17. Thanks guys, the Paw-Paw cream worked a treat, his elbows are still dry (although some fur is already growing back, must be the cooler weather I've noticed the problem is more of a summer thing...) but they aren't infected as much. You can sort of see his elbow in this pic, imagine that, but on all legs:
  18. lol. Not the sharpest tool in the shed ey? Kidding, the program is pretty mainstream these days, do not like....
  19. lol. I guess that's the 'SMS' generation in me shining through....
  20. x2. MYOB people, she was AT the Vet hence doing the right thing.
  21. I would not eat it....and I'm a dog person. Sorry to dissapoint. lol
  22. Clear sign of dominance. Show the dog who is boss, he gets in and sits in the back or he is dead. Simple.
