Have you ever been busted........talking like an idiot to your dog? Today at the park when I took my dog for his daily run, i decided to do some off-leash training. Anyway, after a stay/recall from one side of the oval to the other I started praising him in a high pitch voice: "Good boy....you're a good a boy, whose a good boy? You areeeeee! Good boy!" Then I look up to see 2 elderly ladies looking at me like I was an idiot of epic proportions. I thought I was alone. Evidently not. Well, at least he was happy:

Generally speaking, the working lines are smaller. That said there are some big working Dobes too. But Dobes aren't meant to be too substantial. Each to their own.

There is a pittie bitch in my area that is either allowed to roam free or is a stray. She is a sweety though lol.

+1. But I don't really care if a person has a mongrel or not, a nice dog is a nice dog! It isn't the dog's fault that it is a mixed/DD breed. We need to stop cross-breeding and not punish dogs that were simply born.

I'm having the same problem. My dog has a thick bed in his kennel, I went to flip it over the other day and it was damp. Will try putting cardboard and/or newspaper underneath.

Most important post of thread. You people automatically assume that people have been around dogs, know dogs and so on. Many people have no clue, sure, it is annoying, but they simply don't know better. Just like people who buy from BYBs and Petshops simply don't know better. If they knew that their child might get attacked, what sort of (normal) parent would still allow such behaviour? It isn't like they do it on purpose. Rather then having a solid sook, put your efforts towards educating the public. Take the opportunity to speak to kids and their parents when it happens and so on.

Supply and Demand. If people want big dogs that aren't quick and agile, that is up to them. It isn't illegal to promote a certain ''look''. The 'bully' look is common in the USA, sure, it isn't a true representation of the breed, but a representation nonetheless....

Love the name Kuma, was one of the final 3 choices for my dog. (Japanese for bear for those of you who don't know).

Valid points. If you do get a security guard though, don't go through big companies. Usually you get some scrawny peasant who has just done some short course, it isn't even a deterrent. Get a bouncer type fellow.

I think how he portrays the image of his dogs are really his own choice to make.....might not be the best choice, but his choice either way. Horses for courses.

I couldn't agree more. Anyone seriously wanting to rob a place would only need to bait the dog and that is the very reason that I would never contemplate using a dog as a deterrent. Much better resort to technology. You can teach them food refusal techniques, it isn't 100% but you can achieve good results.

Flicking through more pics, some dogs seem to conform really well (I'm comparing to Mischiefmaka to get an idea of what is the ideal standard). Most of them seem too big however...... That's what I thought at first, some are fat. But man, others are built like a brick shithouse. Lean and huge. Reminds me of some of the AmStaffs you only see in the States.

Bahahaha how so very very true, we get more transmission of disease from our human counterparts mostly due to bad hygeine practices than anywhere else. this reminded me, (bit yukky sorry). many places my daughter went in the middle east, the people defecated anywhere, just dropped their pants (males) and did it. :D and didn't even cover it up. I thought, sure!! but they (kids) were so amazed that they took pics as at one time their vehicle had to stop, and a nice pile was left. No water, loo paper, washing hands etc, and this boy (about 14??) had bread in his hand at the time. So yes, hygiene is all relative isn't it? I guess kissing my dogs would turn their stomachs as much as this did to us. Like where? I've been to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iran on holiday and did not see such behaviour at all......maybe in the slums?
