  1. Where abouts in Adelaide? if you dont mind me asking? and yes it has... think the rain will stay away for a little while now
  2. Im hestiant with chicken necks these days. My last cav choked on a neck and since that day I have been very cautious giving them. She was ok after but still made me think twice about feeding them. I started feeding my two current girls necks, cut up into pieces. The eldest one would just gulp them, not chew them (so really pointless) and the other one would chew the small bits. If you are going to feed chicken necks, id try cutting them up into smaller pieces, perhaps a couple of cms long and see if he chews it (seems to me he will gulp them given he did with the whole neck, so perhaps smaller frozen bits might be better??). Some feed wings, I never did. Just make sure you supervise. Do you have a kong? Shoving the neck in a kong may make him chew at it more?? Just an idea? Kongs are great and I use them alot. ETA
  3. I use a toilet word such as 'wee wees' when I take the girls out and they usually do it on command. Also, taking them out frequently (eg. after a meal, after a nap, after play time or every couple of hours) can help with routine until they pick it up for themselves. Treating and lots of praise after a wee I found also helped. My youngest used to wee on her bed and I just gave a firm 'no' then took her straight outside to recognise that outside was the place for her business and that has worked for me. They all get there sooner or later, just lots of patience :D Its good that he is now pawing at the door when he needs to go out! He is a little cutie! However, I am a little bit bias with Cavaliers Edit cos I cant spell!
  4. Hi Lindainfa, your little man is just adorable!!! I bought two bunnings compost bins and made a pen out of it. I used cable ties instead of the metal pins that come with it. This was my little set up for when I was not home and worked really well. I still use it to this day to section off bits of the house that are no-no zones. I understand what you mean about you not wanting him to toilet inside, but personally, I would rather keep him in the laundry with his crate and perhaps get some training pads to put on the floor? Would be cheaper than the fake grass, but its entirely your call. Also, as long as you know that the cats and he will be fine for that long. Otherwise, you could set up a pen if you have a tiled area in your home? If its not going to be a regular thing (you and hubby working in the evening) then I wouldnt worry too much with the odd accident here and there. My girls were like that but they soon learn that they are to go outside and both mine are now fully toilet trained. If I have to go out and its raining outside, ill leave them inside (as they usually come back and jump on our couch with their muddy paws) and they usually hold until I get back (only a couple or so hours). Goodluck with what you decide to do! I think we need more pics of Arnie though :D ETA

  14. I had this problem too with both of my cavs and all I basically did was make the lead very short and holding treats up and rewarding after a few steps. They soon get to understand that the lead is a good thing and stop attacking it The biting of the lead stops when they become occupied on other things (such as going for a walk). However, being 10 weeks old, you are probably best trying in your backyard. When my two see their leads and harnesses now, they get excited because they know we are going somewhere. You WILL get there Be patient and persistent. Only do short practice sessions otherwise the pup will get frustrated. I think I did two or three 5 minute sessions a day and they picked it up within a week. Goodluck EFS
