Thanks for those links, they are awesome! and so is everyone's attempts at it! HDR = High Dynamic Range Wiki defines it as: "high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminances between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wider dynamic range allows HDR images to represent more accurately the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight"

Gorgeous! I have been so lucky to have had the chance to meet and photograph Huga's family. Huga is nothing but kind and charming and I am so in love with Eddie and Lola. These three have been so gracious in helping me out for my photography course, not once but twice and even getting smiles from them all as I am wasting their time standing around waiting for me to get my sh!t together with my camera and lighting. Thanks for being so patience Huga. I have so many photo's to process but I am sure Huga would not mind some Eddie pic's, because he is awesome. I love his eyes! Beautiful image! Well done Nawwww!

Thanks I am still learning myself. I have had my camera (450D) for about 6 months now. As for getting the photos I did, some involved treats... and the others just involved waiting for a photo-worthy moment, no tricks involved. I just positioned myself so that I wouldnt distract the dogs too much. It does take some patience as not every photo is going to work out. Most of my photos are taken when the girls are still and not moving around. I also get myself in different positions (eg. on the floor, angled etc) so that the it gives the photo more effect. My first photos were taken with the zoom lens, so I could be a few metres away and not distract the dogs. The best way to lean, is to practice and that is something im still doing. Also, I found all the technical terms really hard to understand at first. I dont learn by reading.. Im a visual learner. So I found these tutorials REALLY helpful! http://www1.canon.com.au/worldofeos/learn/getting-started/ Make sure you post some pics up when you take them!! JS posted some really good tips. And Shell, your photos of Zero are gorgeous!!

Im heading down to the beach tonight to try out some beachy type sunset photos... I have read about HDR. On flickr, there is this AWESOME photographer who does alot of HDR stuff.. I am just blown away! An example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/artiephotogra...57604668728100/ Has anyone experimented with it? If so, I would love to see how you went!

LOL Bec I just love the sharpness to it! All the photos are great! I told my partner that he is paying half so it can be my Christmas pressie!
-
Oh nice! thanks a lot for that Kirislin... I think im sold
-
Ok, so im thinking of buying myself this for Christmas I have heard its very versatile, excellent for portraiture as well as close up. But is it good for any other type of photography, say a person a few feet away with a nice background? If you have some photos to share, please post them!!

A good friend of mine is getting married in April and she has booked in a professional photographer. I asked if she wouldnt mind me taking some extra photos (guests, cake, wedding dance etc), nothing big if you know what I mean, just to learn more and get some more experience. She was over the moon and said sure! Its good because shes not placing any expectations on me, its purely just my own shots but in a more artistic way kind a thing. I dont think I could photograph a wedding on my own. Ash would have to pass me the zanex ETA - Your recent wedding shots on your FB page were amazing!!

Bec, I totally adored your hundreds and thousands entry. It had meaning and it was 'sweet' if you know what I mean....
