Hi everyone Currently I'm using old bath towels for my pup to sleep with since he already ruined the past 3 beds we got him. I'm just wandering since he chews a lot on the towels that could the cloth be dangerous to him? Or is there really anything dangerous about it? It is well kept clean as well though. Instead of a bed, I'm thinking of making my own sort of pillow that would be hard covered so he cant chew through em and sleep with it. Although don't know the sort of material i could use for this purpose, does anyone know or tried this sort of thing? Also does this towel eating promote him from biting hard and not learning to bit softer like on me? I'm worried he will not learn to soften his bites on others and me Thanks for the help

Hey everyone again Thanks for all the input so far. Anther question about the fetch command and drop command. The main problem is he doesn't behave when he sees theres no treat in my hand. Whenever my pup comes back with the ball in his mouth and i ask to drop it, and if i dont have a treat in my hand, my pup would hang onto it, growl and a tug of war begins where sometimes he completely refuses to let go. Also sometimes he pretends to come close and looks to pretend to give it back then runs off again. And these usually happens when i dont have treats, how can I make him drop the ball on command without depending so much on treats? Cause i feel ive been depending too much on treats now. Usually when im angry, I'd say growl no then take all the toys away and walk away and come back few minutes later. But this problem still happens. Should i try cutting his garden space? So he can't run around away so much when he has a toy? Also in regards to bones for dogs, my vet told me to stop feeding chicken necks because it can damage/choke his throat and told me to go onto using marrow bones from the butcher. Although i'm worried he will be lacking calcium, any suggestions? Lastly, the vet said I can start feeding him 2 times per day instead of 3, what time is recommended to do so? Right now its 10am, 2pm, 7pm, should it just be 10am and 7pm? Thanks again

Hi everyone I just wanted some suggestions on what treats I should feed my japanese spitz puppy for rewards. I've mainly been giving him liver treats and some other random ones like from All natural brand and kibble. I was wandering if there were other alternatives that are more healthy for my pup, low in fat and good for him. I'm also unsure of what treats i should stay away from as I'm worried some ingredients will affect the coat of my pup and turn it yellow? I heard some pedigree products has something in it that makes the coat go unnatural. Also when it comes to toilet training, what I've tried to do is lead him in an area in the backyard and close it off and let him out until he has done the deed. But the main problem is making him learn to go there by himself as I have to use treats to lure him or toys etc. Is this a good idea to enclose him off until he has done his deed? or should i let him do it wherever in the backyard? With regards to collar training, at what age should I be trying to get him use to it? I've found that whenever i put him on a leash, he would go crazy and keep trying to bite it. I tried a bite-off product that is really bitter but it doesn't seem to work for the leash, I'm looking for a way for him to get use it and letting him drag it around himself before steering him myself. Any suggestions on stopping him from biting it and going crazy? Well generally any tips with collar training would be great.

Hmm thanks for the replies Another problem I noticed with my pup is that he has been eating his own stool. I'm currently feeding him advance puppy growth kebble, advance/optimum puppy wet food(Cans), chicken necks and also tried using pineapple. He is still eating his own stool and I'm trying to find some helpful ways in stopping him from doing so. Thanks again

Hi again I took him (My Japanese spitz) to a vet recently and the vet gave me the anti fungal treatment but I have heard otherwise from him about the situation. Well he looked at the marking under that Uv light(or something) and didn't find anything but still suspects it's a ringworm. I'm going to take my pup to another vet sometime soon to recheck the ringworm and also get his 2nd vaccination. What confuses me is that he told me ringworm wasn't such a serious issue and that I should continue normal weekly washings and not to worry so much about it spreading onto people as adults are unlikely to get it except children or those with weak immune system as he treated a lot of cases and never had any problems. I don't have any other pets around the house but I'm still kind of paranoid of getting it myself or others in the family but none have noticed any markings. Is this all true what hes told? Also just yesterday my pup has just started to chew on his bed and pretty much opened it up and started taking out the wool inside. I managed to sew it up but just this morning he already has started to open it up again and take all the wool out. Any suggestions with another type of beddings? I got those circle fabric with wool stuffing inside from ikea. Thanks again

Also how would he have got it? I dont want this happening again Thanks

Hi everyone thanks for the replies I'm just wandering how do i spot if i have them on my body? Is it itchiness? or there will be similar markings on my body as well with the ring as well. I'm going to take him to a vet today and hope it all goes well. Also is the anti fungal cream something over the counter? Any recommended products? And any you recommend to wash the beddings. Thanks again

Hi everyone Just today I noticed these two marks on his body, one around his chest and lower body. The one on the lower body is a faint red line that looks like a shape in an oval. The other one though was more pimple like though. I'm really worried it may be ring worms or something like that. I haven't had time to get it checked with a vet and wanted some opinions for now. What should I do? I've read around and its contagious where I have touched it and left it for like 10mins because I didn't know what it was but I did wash my hands afterwards, so does that mean I caught it? How does it affect my puppy health? Cures? I have used other things already like hand cream etc and say I did catch it would I have affected these things? How does it spread so much and where? Sorry really paranoid after reading so much.. Also some other unrelated things I have to ask as well. I noticed while he eats that hes legs are wide apart and one time I noticed that he actually almost fell from spreading it too much as if it was weak standing on his back legs. Is this a problem? Also I wanted some tips on keeping him still for checking him up and brushing or anything that needs to keep him still. The main problem is that he keeps trying to bite my fingers/hands when I try to pat or look around him and even brushing. I know I need to stop and ignore him and say bad etc but is there anything else i should be trying or its just normal puppy behavior and he'll learn eventually? Lastly about training him, when should i try to teach stay? Its like he'll never learn to haha and also collar training since it seems he keeps trying to bite it off or since hes small still he would squeeze out of it. Thank you

Hi everyone thanks for all the input so far. I haven't really left my puppy locked in the cage yet, instead its just his area in the room and the cage where he would usually sleep in the cage anyway. Just some other questions i got I've been trying to teach him his name but he gets confused with sit and his name now. I never really taught him to sit, all i would do is call him by his name and he would come to me and automatically sit. But also sometimes when i just say his name he will sit. How should i go about teaching his name and sitting? Also hes got a problem with biting my pants. Whats the most efficent way to make him stop? By distracting him away from my pants with a toy of his? One minutes he is obedient then 5 seconds later he would just grab hold onto my foot. I try to say off and try distract him from biting my pants with a toy but he keeps holding on. Does he think its a game? or does he think he dominates me? Also when i do actually distract him away with a toy he could come back 5seconds later and start again with my pants. thanks again

Hi thanks for all the replies so far. About the tiolet training. He is kept in the spare room at the back of the house for now, but we plan to move him to the laundry once its cleaned up. I'm just worried what my pup would be up to at night in my garden as there would be spiders and sort outside. Once headed out the room, he'll be on a balcony where i would need to place him down the garden (1m high) for him to tiolet there. Also theres so many places he can hide that I'm also worried he will simply run off somewhere and wont come back at my call at all. This is the main reason i would like to train him inside or i suppose the balcony. I just think if i left him inside and if he does the deed like hes not suppose to, he would get confused that he can do it either inside or going out the balcony? Also im worried from the balcony, that he will jump off this height or head for the long stairs to the backyard. Unless i set up the pen i have on the balcony and place him in there or lead him through the door in it? I tried this this afternoon but he kept jumping around trying to get out but he did eventually pee but not on the tray i had in there with him. Also I'm not very comfortable with going out at night or even leaving the door open for him. Also about the laundry room, its really tight and it would be like half a metre we can place the tray there for him to do the deed. I will try to convince my family to allow him to stay in my room, reason being they dont like the thought he would do it in the cage without warning. Hence i would like to try prove to them by the above options i have. Unless this is really all the wrong way around this and that i have to hope in the future he'll learn to hold it in when im not there? or even while left in the cage? I was thinking as a routine, after feeding him, taking him or enclose him with the pen in an area with the tray, playing with him if he can do it then locking him in the cage? Problem is id think hed be too scared in the small area in the pen to do anything. Also feeding areas, I have been feeding him in the same room, should i keep to this? or move this outside like the tiolet thing? And about nail clipping, I have tried to do so but he just keeps moving around so much that i just cant. Ive been trying to calm him down with treats but as soon i start to hold his paw to try cut hed just wiggle too much and even with another person to help im too worried ill cut him. I've also noticed with brushing, I try to brush him daily but he keeps trying to bite either my hand or the brush, i cant tell if he likes the brushing or not. Any tips about brushing as well or direct me to some posts? Sorry if these issues have been discussed else where but its just getting confusing for me with so much information and variations. And thanks again

Hi i just recently got my puppy (japanese spitz) and just wanted some help with training him. He's 9weeks old and he stays in the house for now. What we have been trying for the past few days is toilet training him. What we did was divide the room and laid out a newspaper on a rectangular pad in the corner for him to use He has used this like half the time but the other half is any random places in the area. We have been praising him every time we see that he has done it at the right place. We tried to restrict the place even more so where he can only got out to the pad from his crate where he sleeps. But this didn’t work at all as he somehow hit the fence around him and got out and did the deed somewhere else. Also I was thinking of locking him up in the crate I got him during the night but I was worried he'd do the deed in his bed area. Is this a good idea? I was thinking of getting some fake grass and use that instead and hope that works out better any thoughts on this? Also how much per day should I be spending time with him? I know the first couple of days I spent too much time and a friend of mine told me to lay it off because he was getting aggressive when I was around. Also the main reason I haven’t let him use the backyard(its small though) for the toilet cause I'm waiting on the advocate to use but really when I'm not there he'll be in the same area and will need to learn to do it on that mat. Are there any natural remedies for protection from fleas or anything harmful to my puppy to apply in the gardens around? Also I have noticed that he wakes up every 2 hrs every night i think, am i feeding too much to him? Or is he too young to hold it in for now?
