  1. Ok, i think i found the answer on the vic agility site MANDATORY Broad Jump Dog Walk Hoop Single Hurdle Spread Hurdle Scramble Table Flexible Tunnel Weaving poles x 12 What is a Scramble? The website says "There is no limit to the number of times an obstacle can be used, with the exception of the contact obstacles, spread hurdle, table and weaves which are not to be used more than once" So does this mean I can create my own course and do whatever I want but within the standards mentioned above? Im so confused Is this the same for every state?
  2. Hey Can someone tell me what obstales your dog has to complete when entered in NOVICE? Is it different for each state? Thanks
  3. Totally Wild did one on agility a few years ago - anyone seen that on the net anywherE?
  4. Last night Jordi went AWESOME at agility training. I showed my instructor and she was so impressed so we went up a class!! Yay!! Next class includes teaching to jump like 5 jumps in a row which he ACE'd!!!! He even went on the DW and then EVEN DID THE CONTACT AT THE END!!! I was soo impressed with him!! We have also started the 2x2 weaves, just getting him to drive through the middle of two poles! All up A FANTASTIC NIGHT! Thanks for EVERYONEs help, its been great!
  5. LOL, I will join you there! I havnt ordered from cleanrun YET (trys to keep off that site), cos i have just ordered from agilityclick and airdogs....WOOHOO i just got my tug-it in the maiL!
  6. Thanks! That makes so much more sense now! GO THE 2x2 WEAVE SYSTEM!
  7. Some great suggestions leopuppy! Thank you, I will def keep them in mind!! Hopefully I will be going up a class tonight *fingers crossed*
  8. There is only one correct way to enter the weaves: on the right side of the first pole (so color blue in your pic). That's probably the hardest thing in weave training: training the right entry from hard angles. Thanks Laffi! So if a dog enters from the left would he be faulted? or NQ?
  9. Hey Guys! I am wondeing why Susan Garrett's training method for the 2x2 weaves teaches to dog to only weave from the right entry....shouldnt a dog be able to enter weaves from both sides? Take the bottom diagram below for instance. The blue dog that had been taught 2x2 has to enter from the right side (cos thats only way he has been taught) compared to the red dog who can enter from the left therefor making a quicker time.
  10. Ok...Day 6 and here are the results: A little better than Day 3 I think, however he really didnt want to play with his toy today conpared to training on day 3.
  11. Thanks smisch! I will def have a look at your beautiful doggies!
  12. Finally got to watch it totally agree with what Laffi said - make sure you are facing in the direction your dog is facing - as this is our 'end behaviour' when running an agility course Put some non-slip stuff on the board - you should be able to find some stuff from bunnings or Kmart pretty cheap - this will make him go even faster Rev him up before letting him loose.... "readddyyyyy settt...... GO" and release him to get his 2o2o He's doing really well - you should be so proud  I have been doing as both you and Laffi said but I still dont think he really knows what he is doing. Last night i walked with him along side it and kept walking...and so did he. It seems he only stops in 2o2o just cos thats just where i stop. I am finding it very difficult working without giving him a command and my partner thinks its just stupid! He thinks I should give a command and then shape it without a command later on because he just doesnt think Jordi will understand it...Just like with obedience. When at the heel position, after a while the dog eventually sits next to you by himself... Huff...i dunno, its too hard! Would another video help?! I could try and do one this weekend with a friend of mine and her dog knows nothing except a nose touch??? That would be Great!!!!!
  13. Ooo Oooo oooo I want to order from there, but i live in gold coast! I want that sheepy octopus tug!

  15. Thanks guys for all of your advice. I have ordered one of those tug it things recommended by Susan garratt so will see how that will go. I think it's similar to what ozjen has mentioned. I have made alittle progress just by playing with him and as soon as he tugs even the tinest amount I let him have it and praise him heaps, this is starting to work so i will see how that goes aswell! Thanks Leopuppy!
  16. Is it better to teach your dog on a board that is the same width as the real DW or doesnt it matter? If so, anyone know the width?
  17. Those Cleanrun tugs look great! The other day I ordered one of those "Tug-It" things recommended by Susan Garret. Here is a you-tube video on it: I have used so many different toys from socks, teatowels, kongs, balls, rope etc EVERYTHING. He seems to like anything that squeeks and is soft on his mouth (cos he is a pansy) so I rekon those sheepy ones from cleanrun would work great! The only problem with him is he gets bored of playing.... but thats what I'm working on! Thanks again Laffi! ...I'm going to have to get one of those now to try!!!
  18. ohhh ....Maybe I should have got a Border Collie, my dog doesnt have enough drive..... I disagree :D !!! your dog looks like he has really good drive already just keep on working on it (heaps of play training) and you will have your own crazy BC LOL, thanks Laffi ....He likes to play (sometimes, LOL) but wont tug, I am now trying to teach him to tug by letting go and praising him heaps when he pulls on the toy the slightest bit...its working slowly
  19. ohhh ....Maybe I should have got a Border Collie, my dog doesnt have enough drive.....
  20. Be careful with your body language. Right now he stops on 2o2o because you physically stop him from moving by standing in front of him. Try the same exercise with him on your sides (both right and left). Or you can try shaping where you don't move at all and just C&T for going straight on the board and then C&T for putting the front paws on the ground. Also when you release him from 2o2o release him forward from the board (don't turn so fast as he still is on the board when you are walking away from it to start a new round). Other than that, it looks great! He is definitely loving his C&T Thanks Laffi! I will definitly keep that in mind!
  21. Ok, here is what I did last night: This morning I did some training again and he got 4 out of 5 times right
  22. Do you get him used to touching the target plate to begin with first and then put it in front of the board and let him do it himself or when he is on the board do you give the command of touch?...if that makes sence?
  23. if only I could have a pup like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9loOIbIU_c
  24. I too am finding that Jordi doesnt fully understand what I really want either with this 2o2o "chance" method, This is only our 3rd day of training this but i would of expected him to be alittle better at it. I have looked on youtube and can't acually find anyone training it from the begining, its just demos of how it should be done. Maybe I should video what I do tonight and post it up and get some comments. Maybe i can even try the 2o2o nose touch, but that would mean i'd have to teach him that first. *sigh*
