Triple Crown Pet Resort at Londonderry. I have used them and found them very good. As well as the outside runs they have some inside the house in a purpose built air conditioned very large room. If you have dogs that dont handle the heat or are old, have medical issues ect then the inside ones are close to staff all the time. link below TCPR

If A Dog Is Pregnant To Her Brother Is That A Problem?
Cazstaff replied to Cazstaff's topic in Breeders Community
Thanks everyone,I appreciate your input, opinions and advice. You have brought up a couple of points I hadn't considered and you are right, the responsible and right thing to do here is desex and abort asap which I will do. She is a beautiful young girl and by doing that it will enable her to find her forever family faster and get on with her new life. Thanks again, Caz... -
If A Dog Is Pregnant To Her Brother Is That A Problem?
Cazstaff replied to Cazstaff's topic in Breeders Community
I haven't been in the position of having to put to sleep a deformed pup luckily, but Im big on quality of life for dogs, just being alive isnt good enough, so I feel I could do that. Im confident I could rehome them well. We seem to raise great family pups here. She is in very good condition and Id be confident in her ability to whelp & raise the litter. I could handraise a litter if needed, but doubt Id have to with this girl. You're right there is lots to think about.... -

Anyone With A 'large, Trained' Dog Want Some Movie Work?
Cazstaff replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for posting up the request FranCQ. It was a hoot! I had no idea how much went into film making and these young creative clever people are just unbelievable. At times I just sat back and thought how can you know so much and have such a clear artistic vision of what you want, brilliant views and idea's when you are all so young??? Inspirational! Any idea of when we can all see the finished product?? I don't really know where it will be showing that public can see it? It will be entered in Short film comps & Film festivals etc....that sort of thing. -

Im hoping for some guidence from the wealth of experience in here. Im involved in rescue and have taken on a bitch thought to be in whelp to her brother. I don't want to abort the pups if they have a good chance of being ok, I just don't know how dog genetics work? Thanks in advance, Caz... -

This short film called 'DOG' was shot last week and what an eye opening fun experience it has been! My big cuddle bum Rocko enjoyed every minute of being the centre of attention and getting lots of treats ;) I'm so chuffed as Rocko is now immortalised on film Not bad for a pound pooch FF. Will(the Director) thought Rocko had the look he wanted, large (67kg), dark brindle and a boof head! The week before the shoot my daughter and I took Rocko and Lani into Fox Studio's to meet Will, main cast and some crew. Some pre film shoot photographs were taken of Rocko with the 2 main actors. They all thought he was gorgeous and Rocko lapped up the attention. Because Rocko doesn't bark on command that was Lani's part I only have to say 'What's that?' and she will bark lol. This is a pic of my daughter in at Fox Studio's with the dogs. It felt strange walking through there with the 2 largish dogs, I was waiting for security to kick me out Rocko was so good on set, I was very proud of him. He was more obedient and patient than I knew he could be. He quickly 'got' what we wanted him to do and tried hard to oblige. Rocko is so treat driven he will do anything for a spec of bacon or liver treat ;) Even the complex lighting set ups close around him, a sound guy with earphones on and a long pole putting a microphone in front of him and a camera pointing right at him didn't take his focus off that treat or my eyes waiting for the words 'good boy' that meant he could come and get it!! :D Rocko shared everyone's excitement whenever the perfect shot of him was achieved, belting everyone on the thighs with his steel whip of a tail (ouch!) while he was told what a champion boy he was!.... Will gave him lots of breaks to go and sniff around outside & snooze in the garden. He even got a lemonade ice block. The talent, dedication and patience I witnessed from Will and the crew over the 2 days Rocko and I were on set was inspirational. Will is a beautiful, very creative, talented human being, by beautiful I mean inside... he was caring and considerate to all on set, always spoke kindly, was appreciative of his cast & crew and all while he was trying to keep to a schedule and instruct the lighting and sound people for the next shot, as well as making sure we were all happy, fed and watered... a multi tasking man A rare creature indeed :p For such a young man he was amazing and I think we will see and hear lots more from him in the next decade. His great love of dogs was very obvious from his natural way with Rocko, Rocko took to him immediately. In between shots I noticed Rocko following him around or sitting at his feet getting a scratch. When we arrived on the second day Rocko couldn't wait to get inside, I dropped his lead once we were safely inside the gates and he was off to find everyone! Funny boy I can't wait to see the finished product or even some stills. Unfortunately Leah couldn't take pictures of Rocko being filmed as the flash & sound would have been a problem. I know there was some discussion and concern about how this short film presented dogs in a negative way and I completely respect and understand those views as does Will. Rocko was happy the entire time,he wasn't incited to bark or growl, he just doesnt do that! Rocko enjoyed every minute of being fussed over except maybe the late afternoon shots when he didn't really want to get up off the couch he had claimed as his own Lani, my pretty Mastiff X foster girl came with us 1 of the days for her bark, she will bark at anything so the sound guy simply recorded her barking. For the rest of the day Lani had the run of the place with Leah my daughter while I worked with Rocko.. The way I see it this film is an artwork, a short intense film to display Wills talent, skill and creativity as a film maker and script writer. The scripts somewhat cryptic message relates to male jealousy not dog breeds. Its not a documentary nor will it be seen by mainstream community. I feel privelidged to have had my precious heartdog Rocko play a part in Wills film. I was so very proud of both Lani and Rocko, such awesome dogs and both were poundies about to be PTS when they first came here. Would you believe Lani is still looking for the right forever home . -
You could always send Ruger to me if you needed to make more room at your place  LOL, he isn't going anywhere! I can't part with either of them, Thea did warn me before she sent them up Ruger and his sister are officially foster failures Something VERY special about that big boy besides his rugged good looks and Charlotte is the sweetest big loving goofball Can't believe they are 10 months old already.

Another dog whore here too Thats one of the lovely things fostering has given me, a love and appreciation of so many breeds I never would have known. Wolfhounds for example, not a dog I would have thought to own but now I adore them! Wonderful pooches! I have learnt about LGD's and hope one day to be in a position to own a CAS or Anatolian. I love experiencing all different dogs through fostering, its been a constant learning curve and always full of heartwarming surprises.

Thats great! Clever little dog.

CBL- It was Paul that looked after her till she went to the ARH, he was so caring He was amazed(as was I) at the generosity of the rescue people to raise the much needed funds overnight!

It has taken me over a week to be able to do this. I can't believe how much this little girl meant to us and just how deeply we loved her when we had only known her for 4 short days.. April came to us as a rescue from Hawkesbury Pound, it was instant as soon as we saw her sweet smiley face. Little did we know we only had 4 days to enjoy and indulge this darling. Sadly April was suffering from heart failure due to a severe Aortic Stenosis. She was only 1 year old . By Friday she was in the hands of a Cardiac specialist at ARH thanks to the $$ generosity of the big hearted rescue people on this forum. Bless them, I will be eternally grateful for their help in giving this beautiful deserving wee soul the very best chance at life possible. As it turned out even if we had an open cheque book we couldnt save April , knowing this didnt ease the pain of making that decision we all dread. As a result of the heart failure she was suffering from respiratory distress and wet lung by Friday afternoon. At 5.18pm on October 1 2010 my Sweet April took her last breath in my loving arms, while lying on my chest, nibbling on the crackly ear of her favorite blanky bunny toy and smiling up at me. No more would she struggle. I couldn't see through the tears and the heartache & loss I felt was huge. She was lovingly laid in a pretty white box on a soft mat for us to bring home. My daughter Leah nursed her with such care all the way home. We buried her the following day with very heavy hearts and lots of tears. Many of us will never forget this little dog, she went from being a homeless and nameless dog in the pound to a much loved family member who was spared nothing in our efforts to help her. Her family included many people from the DOL rescue forum and Hawkesbury Pound Staff and volunteers. I was privelidged to have known her, loved her, cuddled her, slept with her, watched her enjoy yummy food in abundence and experience the joy the love of a family brings. Im grateful I could fill her last days with kindness and care and give her a peaceful end to her life, feeling very much loved and safe and happy. Im glad she had so many people to cry for the injustice she sufferred in being discarded by her owner to die alone so young. Too many beautiful dogs die in pounds every day homeless, nameless and with no one to even shed a tear for them , I find that tragic. This youtube link is a collection of photo's from her last few days... Run free at the bridge my beautiful girl, you will be in my heart always

I 100% relate to what you are saying here. I often talk to my kids about how our dogs lived when I was their age. Sandy would be tied up when mum went to work and Id let her off when I got home from school, she would take off at a million miles an hour to who knows where!. No fences or leads, no obedience school or formal socialising. Sometimes she would come home with other dogs and we thought it was great! You are right pers, we knew which dogs we could pat and which ones to give space just from seeing them be dogs. You'd go to the local park and there would always be a handful of unknown dogs hanging around being dogs, it was normal, we weren't scared of them. The very tall ladder up to the steep metal slippery dip that landed you in a pile of gravel after burning your legs all the way down was more frightening  My kids laugh and can't imagine what it would be like to have dogs around 'unattended'. Dog behaviour , like a lot of human behaviour today seems to have been 'sanitised' .. so we don't see dogs doing all of which they are capable - therefore succeeding generations do not know what to look out for/manage. This is so very true One of the things I have loved about rescue is watching and learning about group dynamics with a wide cross section of dogs, the joy of seeing how the established group not only interact with each other but also how they treat newcomers. I have watched them teach manners to the unruly, nurture & protect pups, weak or sick dogs and dicipline the over the top dogs. I imagine when I was a kid these natural dog behaviours were given the freedom to work their magic in the neighbourhood, resulting in more balanced animals that co existed with people more easily.

Tammy The 19yo Kelpie X From Canterbury Pound
Cazstaff replied to Cazstaff's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Thought it was time for another update Tammy has been with us for 11 months now....how time flies. She will be 18 next month. She just gets better and better, I havn't seen any changes that might indicate she is actually getting old . She still gets straight up of a morning and trots out for a wee, no sign of stiff joints. She eats too well, I have to stop her pinching the other dogs food, she still runs up the path to me, can outwalk Rocko (and me Im ashamed to say ) and loves a swim! I am still besotted with her and can't believe how lucky we are to have had her for almost a whole year! Here are some pics of her from last week.. She loves going out. Heading to the beach, yippee! I was going 'oo ahh the water's cold!' but not Tam, she was in a hurry to get across the lake to the surf!! Mum's to slow, the surf is just there! Yay surf! Isn't she beautiful !! Home time Im just so lucky to have found her! I only wish she was turning 18 months old instead of 18 years then Id have a whole lifetime of her to look forward to. She's my girl ;) -

I always find walking the dogs together to be the best way to introduce them. Keeping a distance at first, changing who is in front, letting them get used to each others smell and presence. As their body language relaxes let them get closer to each other for short periods. Depending on the dogs this can take minutes or hours before they will comfortably walk side by side. When we get home I turn the tap on and let them drink together. I usually crate a new dog in the family room so the established dogs dont see it as competition on their turf and the new dog can relax & watch how things run from the security of his own space before being invited to join in for short periods. No matter how well things seem to be going I dont leave the new dog unattended with the established pack for quite some time. It varies so much depending on the temperament of the dog I am introducing.

6 weeks ? That already rings alarm bells. 8 weeks is the absolute minimum age a pup should be before leaving its mum. I think thats the rules for breeders....
