  1. Not sure if it may quell your fears at all...but did you notice that the link is to an American Examiner website & the Consumer affairs link is also American.
  2. Same here...I was just thinking this as I cleaned out our whopping big 500 ltr freezer. All the stuff in there for the dogs is healthy along with bags of rump steak. Up our end along with some good stuff, we have sausages, chicken snitzels, icecream & bread. If only someone would take control of me & take as much care of my diet & weight as much as I do with the dogs
  3. Yes...he certainly had his own unique way of handling his dogs & yeah...he certainly is an inspiration to all of us who think we are getting too old for the sport. He was the very first person OH & I met when we popped into a local trial to see what it was all about. He must have been in his late 70's then, & it certainly gave me the inspiration to take it up. I thought I would be too old, that it would be a young persons sport. :)
  4. I emailed to Sherel & this is her reply...I think that the "knockers" of this little Aussie battler & also her supporters, may be interested in her response. As I explained, she no longer comes onto DOL...she hasn't been on for months & after this I too will not be coming back onto the Black Hawk thread. I am not BH, I am a very, very small distributor on the NSW North Coast. Along with my daughter, her husband Mark we started distributing BH a couple of years ago, as there was no one closer than Sydney or Brisbane who could supply the product. So we took it on to enable people in the country to have access to this great product. Obviously, the product does not agree with everyones dogs, but hey, no product does. We actually have people buy it from us for their dogs which have skin & tummy issues, & they keep coming back for more & recommend it to other people. It's the people who come onto this forum & blame BH for ALL their dogs continuing problems that get me riled up....really....get real. Any way here is Sherel's response along with her contact details if you wish to contact her further...you wont be seeing me on here again Hi xxxxx Thankyou for contacting the office, we closed on the 21st Dec through to the 7th January, we have been extremely busy catching up with orders and everything else, I don’t run the Facebook page, Jodie does, she is currently away for the next two weeks, I have been busy with my business partner formulating a new exciting formula and our grain free cookies, and also another feline formula, plus on top of that we have the packaging to design, if people email us directly we are happy to answer their enquires, As for us selling or promote Pets Paradise whoever they are, we do not supply them directly from us, they maybe one of Rudducks customers, who are a wholesale distributor Oh and in the last week, I have been and delivered BH to the fire victims in Ballarat every household 9 in total received dog and cat food from us and we also gave to the local pound food to feed the extra pets that have ended up there, plus gave them a gallon of shampoo to wash all the animals that are covered in soot, dust and dirt, Sunday I drove and collected clothes pet bedding etc, to pack on a pallet of dog and cat food we are shipping for free to Tasmania for those affected by the fires and if they need more we will ship it, Thanks again for your support Regards Sherel BlackHawk Premium Pet Care 0400311139 www.blackhawkpetcare.com.au www.kylainknls.com ETA I have deleted the personal bit, but I still think it is important that people know that Sherel is a very, very sick person & for her to continue on with her dream of producing a great 100% Aussie product against all odds, including the fancy imports owned & produced by big multinationals. I would like to wish her all the best...& yes, I had her permission to publish the whole email.
  5. A wire crate would be highly recommended & train her to love it like her den. Invaluable for toilet training, quite time, sleeping, confinement etc. Lots on this forum about the benefits of crates if you do a search. Also, do you have any books or DVD's on training puppies. Both names are cute. Oh...& one thing else, not to forget....Photos, please :D
  6. This is a 'cut & paste" from Lisa Kaddatz who posted on my Facebook Page...I hope she doesn't mind I think he was about 82 & didn't take up agility till he retired. We will always remember him & his border collie "Maybe" (quote) Read some sad news on the Agility Australia group this morning that Keith Colcott has passed away after a short battle with cancer. Many won't know Keith, he was a senior handler from Sydney who apparently didn't take up agility till he retired. He had Border Collies and I met him some years ago now when he travelled up to Armidale and Coffs and I think possibly Grafton too to compete. He was a funny old bugger to watch compete and also to judge and his BC's certainly tested his patience, esp. Maybe (who we initially thought was named Baby) leaving him shaking his fists many times, but he was a great sport and no matter how frustratingly naughty his BC's were on course, he would always acknowledge the judge on the way out with smile & a wave and a thank you as he loved his dogs. I judged him at Armidale some years now and Maybe qualified in novice agility in my ring and I remember at presentation he announced to everyone that it had taken about 156 trials to get that pass and to keep trying :-) He was a funny bloke to chat too around trials too and even though I saw him a couple of times a year, he will be missed. RIP Keith and I hope you have snuck over to Rainbow Bridge to play agility once more. (quote)
  7. Same scenario here with our two - with dandruff to boot unfortunately I know when it comes down to it BH is a business, but I must admit I was a tad disappointed to see a huge promotion for it in Pets Parasites today I'd heard good things about Evo which I'm led to believe was a PP only product until recently, so there's really not much that's turning me away from giving that a try now I think I can safely say that out of all the Major brands of pet food available in Australia, Artemis is the only 1 that you will not find in a pet shop selling puppies & Kittens. Thanks for the "heads up" regarding Artemis. I was unaware of that & I am very pleased that they don't. I am dead against anything with a heartbeat being sold in a Pet Shop. I was going to give Artemis a try with my guys too as they have a new grain free variety available & see how they go as they are quite fussy at times :) I am not sure if this is true or not, but I was told once, that under the Rules of the Dept of Fair Trading, it is unlawful to refuse to sell your product to a business that has an ABN number. Something to do with with the Restrictive Trades Act. So if a certain pet shop wants to buy a certain product, legally, there is nothing the manufacturer can do.
  8. I am not the one being agressive. It has been said that why doesn't she reply to peoples on this thread....I am mearly pointing out that Sherel (BH) does not come onto this thread any more. Kayla1 cannot even tell me what her user name is, yet she condems her for not taking note of what is being said on this thread. If you have a complaint then send it to her...don't expect ther to ba a mind reader. I don't think I am being agressive at all, I think I am just making a stand for commonsense ..if you want answers, then ask her...how can that be agressive.
  9. So you tell me....when was Black Hawk last on this forum....Last I saw her on here, she was answering peoples questions. Can you even tell me what her user name was....I know what it was....but I am asking you, seeing that you believe that she frequents these pages & knows what is being said.
  10. I don't see that though. Some people have posted positive feedback and others negative feedback. I think it's important that all feedback is given. I had a bad experience with BH as it gave my dogs gurgling tummies, terrible flatulence etc. If others have good experiences then that's great. But if negative feedback is given, then what's important is how BH responds. I think it's natural for some people to feel unsatisfied or frustrated if it appears the issues raised are not being addressed. To be honest, that's part of the reason why I won't use BH again, because I am not personally satisfied with the responses (or in some cases, lack of response) to date from BH in regards to issues raised in this thread. But that's just me. :) Maybe Black Hawk doesn't come into DOL any more...I havn't seen her on here for a long, long time. If I had issues, I would be more inclined to post on their Facebook Page or contact them direct through their website, rather than expect them to be reading DOL Forums all the time. I just posted on their FB page to raise the issue of the rumour about them supporting Pets Paradise & I will expect a response. :) ETA ..Nor would I be expecting the manufacturers of the other brands of dog food to be perusing DOL Forums either. If I had a complaint with them, then I would contact them direct. I have no idea whether all the issues that others have experienced have been raised with BH outside of this forum or not. Whether or not they choose to do that is up to them. I simply explained why, in part, I haven't used BH again. I would hope this type of information, that is honest reasons why people are not using the product, is seen as constructive feedback which can be taken on board and used to improve products and services. But it is only going to be constructive if it is conveyed to Black Hawk & that is not going to happen because , to my knowlege, BH does not come into DOL anymore. So if people really thought there was a problem (& I think, like all foods, there will always be some dogs that will have problems) then they should be being constructive & contacting Black Hawk direct. Doesn't that make sense ?????

  12. Gee ...I didn't know that BH was the only brand of food that PP sold  ETA...I wonder how many other Dry Dog Food manufacturers, besides BH, made generous donations to the recent fire victims
  13. And, that poll is well over a year old. The second link I put up was just Nov. 2012 162 people took the bother to vote...40 voted for BH 7 the next best was 24 for Royal Canine
  14. This is a more recent poll What you feed your dogs If it's the most popular dry dog food for DOL's it must have something good going for it Maybe this thread only attracts those people who are not happy with it....those who are happy with it, which is the majority of users, couldn't be bothered coming into this thread, because they know, if they do, then they will get pounced on by the small, but vocal number of unhappy customers.
  15. It definately suits my two...they look wonderful on it one has been on it now for over two years & the other since I got him as a pup. No problems with skin & absolutely no smell at all in my camp. They have maintained the perfect weight, tho I do have to keep an eye on it & if it starts to creep up, I cut down the kibble a bit. I bought my girl a 6.7 kilo bag of Earthborn Coastal Catch to give her a bit of a change. I had to give her 25% more & she lost almost 3 kilos by the time the bag was finished So now she is back on BH. When this bag of Lamb is finished I am going to start them on the Chicken. Just goes to show, that not all foods suit all dogs, but a DOLer did a poll just recently on "what dry food do you use" & the majority of DOL's voted for Black Hawk. ETA Link to Poll on Dry Dog Food
  16. If it wern't for the "doggers"...what would happen to these thousands of unwanted horses ??? OK...so stop the horse sales...then what happens to the unwanted horses??? Turned out in National Parks maybe to become ferel....left in paddocks without any medical/foot treatment till they die a slow & painful death from worms & footrot. We sent a horse off to the sales once. He was a lovely palamino colt, but he had already tried to kill two very experienced people that tried to handle him. I certainly hope that he went to the doggers & that some poor person didn't buy him & try to take him home. We did inform the auctioner of his problems.
  17. Good point Showdog. Apart from the laundry being hot, stuffy & uninviting, she more than likely now associates it with being yelled at. "If I go into the laundry, I will be growled & yelled at"...she most likely thinks this, rather than knowing that she is being yelled at for not settling.
  18. Apart from what others have said, maybe she is too hot in the crate ATM & she associates going into the laundry with being made to sleep in a hot, less ventilated area/crate. My two have always slept in their crates, but for the last few weeks have preferred to sleep on the floorboards, because it's cooler...their choice, if that's where they want to sleep.
  19. I never run out of their main food which is Black Hawk Kibble, but I like to top it with something, like a piece of rump steak. If I have been forgetful & don't have any out of the freezer, then they get a raw egg yolk or canned fish instead of the steak.
  20. It will have to be yesterday... Before breakfast both my BC's had home made training treats, then they had a lovely long swim in the pool, at which time the younger guy filled his tummy with pool water, as usual. After morning swim they had a piece of lamb brisket (usually its a turkey neck). During the day they laid around in the airconditioning & chewed their deer antlers. Then for dinner they both had their Black Hawk Kibble, topped with a juicy piece of rump steak. At bed time they got their dried turkey cube as a reward for putting themselves to bed. :)
  21. I'm not knocking your idea of the coloured collars....but really the average Mr Joe Public wouldn't know that they meant anything & by the time they got up close enough to read whats on the dogs collar it would be too late.
  22. All I can add, is to string a low electric fence wire up around the chook pen. They usually only need to touch this once while looking at a chook & it makes them look at chooks in a different light. Also you could string a hot wire up a bit away from the chook pen, so that the chooks have a place of refuge to go to, if chased...but really, once a killer, always a killer & I would never fully trust a dog who has killed, anywhere near my chooks unsupervised...especially a pack of dogs.
  23. I bought a plastic muzzle for my young guy, to stop him chewing everything while in the car or house & also so I could groom him properly & search for ticks without him snapping at me. I just put a really yummy treat inside evertime I wanted to put it on & it took no time at all for him to relax with it on & accept it. Now he doesn't need it, which is just as well because he managed to get it off his head & chewed the buckle.
  24. This is what my dogs do on hot days :) They just stay around the pool till they have had enough & sometimes if the morning is hot I will put the umbrella up for them. The girl then gets locked up while she dries off, then she comes inside for the rest of the day & the young fellow has some lovely cool holes dug around the garden that he prefers to lie in. We havn't had to use our air con. this year, just the ceiling fans & shut all the doors to keep the heat out. But if the days get so hot that we need the air con, then both dogs will be inside for the day.
  25. So cute & what a well trained "stay". Dog looks like he is a bit concerned about traffic
