  1. And may I add, you don't run the dog in them, as you would in a fly ball harness. You take the harness off if the dog is running or doing agility etc. That is just common sense.
  2. Will do....I promise I will save them up for you. Send me a PM so I have a record of you, otherwise you will get lost. :) Awesome, will PM you. Thanks! S Parcel coming your way...posted today..enjoy :)
  3. A flat collar is just a tool too & can cause all sorts of damage to a dogs throat as it pulls or lunges on it. Not to mention the shoulders of the handler So for those who don't want to use "a Tool", then throw away the leash & flat collar & use nothing on your dog. I have had great success with the front attached harness & my dogs now can be walked in a flat collar quite nicely, but I have to put my young guy into his harness if we are walking along the road, for example, because he is very clever & quick at slipping his collar, even his limited slip collar.
  4. Our routine basically is this, (we are on lots of acres)....in the mornings we take them for an on lead walk down to our agility park, where they do a bit of training, then we go to another paddock where we play with the frisby. We then come back to the agility park, where we line them up, take off their collars & ready, set, go...they race off to the dam, launch themselves off the jetty & swim. We then recall & send them back down..we do this a couple of times. Then they run back up to the house, where we let them into the pool for another swim for about 1/2 hour. Then it's rest time before they have their turkey neck. In the afternoon they just get taken for a walk. It's very routine as they seem to like it this way & if things change they get very confused.
  5. Yeah... I've got the sense-ible one & it has been great & I really only need it now in exciting situations, but I thought this one looked a little bit more comfortable. I walked my two along the road tonight with him just in a flat, limited slip collar & really decided that he should be walked in his harness as he can slip his collar really easily, even the limited slip. RidgieMal, that harness looks awesome :)
  6. Thats interesting, Giraffez, I was told something similiar by someone just recently. They said that proteins can build up in the body (in some dogs) & cause all sorts of skin issues & that sometimes it can help to go onto a lower & different protein food. But when I Googled it I came up with no reference to it.
  7. I think they work for some dogs and not others. I have tried just about every harness on the market and NONE of them work with Ziggy. He might be a bit unsure the first day or so but after that he goes right back to pulling like a steam train (if I give him free walking) - there is simply no such thing as loose leash with him.. We have the Lupi harness, the sporn harness (halter), a head halti, a front clip harness and a couple of other standard type harnesses just for luck (one of these is used to clip him in a seat belt in the car). We spend most of our walks changing direction to get a loose leash or walking against a wall (he is between me and the wall/fence and I use my leg to block him so he can't walk past).. He isn't as bad as he was and with obedience training he is improving heaps but he will still pull if given even an inch of leash. My young guy is a real Houdini when it comes to car seat harnesses. He has the really nice one that Clean Run have on FS, but he just slips out of it. I then resorted to an old one of Bindi's, like you get in the pet shops & I thought he was going great till last ride in the car, I turned around & he was laying quitely on the back seat with the seat belt next to him. No idea how he does it
  8. Clean Run have on free shipping the Freedom No Pull Dog Harness & the double lead that goes with it. I don't need it, but it looks a much more comfortable harness than the other front attached ones which I have used successfully with my dogs, & it clips on both front & back like a double rein. Looks interesting :) And it comes in some nice colours.
  9. A pity you're not in Tasmania, as my housesitters are looking for a sit in Tassie. They are pretty much booked out though, so would have to have heaps of notice. :)
  10. My guys love the Flippy Floppy & you can fold it up & stick it in your pocket
  11. Is it just me or did that thread get a heavy pruning from Troy? The discussion about the odd, abusive private messages appears to be gone. Not sure about that HA....I didn't re-read the whole thread, just found the link for the OP :)
  12. My two border collies get 1/2 a large turkey neck for breakfast & for dinner they get Black Hawk kibble. They love it & are doing well on it. Have been feeding them this for two years now. :) They also get either some steak, a raw egg yolk or tinned or fresh fish.
  13. Our border collies have one from Clean Run. It used to be called Flippy Floppy & is soft, flys well, floats & can be used as a tug toy. It is also tough.
  14. This is my boy (another BC) enjoying himself in the water...launching himself superman style off the jetty...he would do this all day if we let him, then he comes up to the house & starts doing the whole thing all over again in the family pool. So definately going to put the timer on him from now on
  15. I perspire very very heavily and when I was doing bootcamp last year, asked the instructor as to whether or not I should take any electrolytic drinks. I am not in favour of so called replacement drinks. He suggested just some pure sea salt, a pinch in a litre of water. I've found the link, but it is PDF document. Anyone know how to load, please? Interesting this...maybe this is what saves my guy from WT..the fact that the pool water has salt in it. When I am at trials etc. I try to remember to take some pure organic coconut water with me as it is a natural rehydrator.
  16. I assume this is a "blue" staffy. There has been a few threads lately on this forum about the skin problems of blue staffies, if you do a search...probably more likey in the health forum.
  17. Here's the link Meals for mutts Not sure why you would want to change from BH to this though. It is not grain free as it contains rice like the BH.
  18. Thanks for sharing your story & I have my fingers crossed for your lovely dog. I can't believe that my vet said that there was no problem with Cricket consuming large amounts of pool or dam water. I told him that he drinks so much that he rattles & pees for hours after
  19. We've been worried about this with our young guy. They both love the water & swim at least twice a day. The young guy "eats" the water & before long, he has swallowed so much that he starts to rattle. I asked the vet if it was harmful & he said "no worries, he will just chuck it back up", but maybe he was only referring to the chlorine content as not being harmful...it's the amount he drinks that worries me. So now we have started only letting him into the water for 10 min. at a time. I must try putting a muzzle on him to try & stop him swallowing so much,as it is a worry, but the exercise & the fun they have is just too great
  20. Sheena, any chance you can link to one? Not sure what they are but they sound like a good idea. I have a new pup coming home in 2 weeks and might come in handy. Jo Hi, If you just go into Ebay & type in Ultrasonic Dog it will come up. The collars are no good, you want a hand held one.
  21. I've booked my fare Chezy...are you competing in the agility ?? Smisch..I will keep an eye out for you & Luvsdogs..that's a shame, we might have been able to meet up
  22. Competing, showing or just looking ? :)
  23. My guys only get them for about 1/2 hour a day, as a special treat in the lounge room before going to bed, then they get put away. :)
