  1. Go away! I am not buying a kindle! Aww...go on now...you know that you would really like one  To be fair, though they don't have a real lot available yet. They do have Control Unleashed on E Book & a few others.
  2. Clean Run now have books you can download to your Kindle etc. I just bought this one Fired up, Frantic & Freaked Out
  3. Agree with the others....LAT has been my saviour That & lots & lots of recall training with very high reinforcement levels. I am now teaching my motion reactive girl to come to a whistle & it is working well. A sports whistle that is, which I carry around my neck when we go for walks.
  4. I've got them, & have never noticed a smell even though my two are swimming every day. Just chuck them in with the washing every now & then
  5. I had a look at that video, & interestingly, I have been using my leash like that for a long, long, time not realising that the method had a name. It works well on my guys & I can controll them with my little finger, if I make sure both loops are very loose & low down on their chest, almost lapping on the top of their legs. That is until, they stop suddenly for a sniff or a pee, then it comes off over their head. Havn't tried it with the leash under one leg though. Would it be inclined to rub under their arm
  6. I have two of these...I just bought a second one for OH & have had the first one for three years now & LOVE them. My Black Dog one died within a couple of uses (hinges)
  7. Do you have access to a normal chlorine swimming pool ?? Could help, not sure what it would do to the pool.
  8. From all the searching I have done, they are not toxic to either dogs or humans. Maybe they have a sweet nectar & this is why your dogs like to eat them.
  9. Correct...it is upside down :) This is the shot as he was taking off, unfortunately I missed the one in between. But will try again tomorrow if its not windy. I only get one go at it, as soon as he hits the water, reflections are all gone
  10. Its a Dietes, not an iris. SCIENTIFIC NAME: Dietes spp. (D. bicolor and D. grandiflora). Not sure about the toxity, maybe try a Google .
  11. I was trying to get a shot of my BC guy when he jumps off the jetty on the dam, just as he touches the water. Missed that but got this one. I have turned it around a few times & now have to look twice to see it it is the right way up. What do you think
  12. No one could say these guys don't get enough excercise every morning  This is just a small part of what they get.
  13. I will keep that in mind when my chook fence needs replacing. ATM I just have a couple of hot wires running around the fence low to the ground to keep foxes & dogs away. I din't know you could get a mesh :)
  14. You can apply for more than one on the form. I always get the sash as I am so proud of my dog having achieved it. I have them all up on my office wall You get a new pedigree certificate back with your dogs title added to his name.
  15. Well said...I know the frustration :) Some people just love to ruin your day, especially if you are a sensitive person. I think somewhere in your account you can block certain people from posting to you if they continue to upset you, but now I just ignore them & don't even bother reading what they have to say.
  16. Janba...can you tell me the name of the product you are on please :)
  17. In extremely rare cases, identical twins have been born with opposite sexes (one male, one female). In these cases, identical twin boys are conceived, but, during the twinning process, one twin loses a Y chromosome (boys have chromosome type XY while girls have XX). Without a Y chromosome to trigger the production of male sex hormones , this fetus develops as a girl by default, but a girl with only one X chromosome (chromosome type XO). The co-twin is unaffected, and develops as a boy as normal.I read this about humans but i haven't been able to find any thing about it with dogs Just a little but someone close to me was born a twin, both boys, & the other boy died a few days later. The surviving twin grew up & had a family of his own. In his late fifties, he announced that all his life he had thought he was a girl & consequently had a sex change & is now a girl. We had twin calves born once...a boy & a girl. The heifer turned out to be sterile & evidently this is quite common in twin calves...wonder if it is the same with identical twin pups.
  18. Electric fences don't electocute things they give them a zap which if they are smart, they will never forget. We live on a farm so have electric fences all around us & they are very useful tools for stopping animals either getting in or getting out. We have been zapped several times & have lived to tell the tale. We trapped all the stray moggies around here & havn't had any trouble for years. I am glad I don't live in the suburbs & have to put up with everyone's cat pissing & pooping in my yard. By nature cats prefer not to do their business in their own yard if there is an alternative. Maybe you could put something along on top of your brick fence that will deter him....like rose branches with thorns..or something really sticky. eg. sticky fly paper.
  19. There is a good DVD for beginners on CleanRun at the moment. It is on special for $12.95 & includes free shipping from US. Here is the link to Starting Off Right
  20. You could try feeding her some cooked rolled oats porridge...the real stuff, not the instant, in addition to what she is getting at the moment. It has been known to put weight on. The Black Hawk Lamb & Rice has a higher fat content than the chicken. I think the chicken is really meant for dogs that are trying to lose weight.
  21. Cute photos Mooblar  You are going to have to watch him with sunburn, I would think.
  22. Probably wouldn't be legal in the suburbs...some kid might touch it or an older person & they have a heart attack. So I would say, No, not in the suburbs.
  23. At our club we generally require them to do "Canine College" which is basic obedience & an introduction to agility. He would need to have a good solid stay & be able to be around other dogs in an exciting environment & be off lead.
  24. Until you have taught (shaped) him to know what position "heel" is using POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT, not correcting with assertivness, he has no idea what "heel" means. In fact to him, "Heel" probably now means, "I am going to be put in pain & yanked around & scolded...so it must be something bad & to be avoided" Get rid of the choker chain & the assertiveness & read up or Google articles on "shaping" a pup to do certain behaviors. It should be fun for him, or he is not going to enjoy it & yes he will start to fight back.
