  1. We bought the dearer ones that they have & are very happy with them. Hubby even wears his fishing or around the farm on wet days.
  2. The problem with most of those do-nut styles is that they don't have a removable cover & you have to wash the whole damn thing
  3. I think that Jo Public would not know what weaving poles or an A frame are either. :) ETA Hope I don't sound negative. Personally I think that agility from the spectator POV is really exciting and I am sure the photos will help drag the public along. Once seen they will come back. Weave poles & A-frame are fairly self explanatary, but calling an object that is high off the ground & the dogs run full pelt along (we all hope), coming to a sudden stop at the end...calling it a dog "walk" Oh well, they will just have to come along & find out for themselves & as for dogs playing snooker  I love trials where the public come along with their kids to watch. It doesn't happen at many, but I would like it to happen in my small community, :) as nothing much ever happens out here except for the annual Timberfest (woodchop) & that attracts thousands.
  4. Now the kids don't bother & just get wet
  5. I bought some of this wet weather gear last year & it is really good quality, especially the mauve jacket Froggs Toggs
  6. This is what I finally put "Come & be entertained by xxxx handlers from all over NSW running xxxx dogs. Agility is a colourful maize of hurdles, hoops, weave poles, seesaws, A-Frames & Dog Walks. 52 Events See dogs play Snooker, Gamblers & run in Pairs " Along with all the general information & some nice colourful action photos. I am a bit unsure about using the words "Dog Walk", as to the general public this doesn't really mean what it really is I thought of things like High Planks, Balance boards but nothing really struck me
  7. My Border Collie girl sleeps in one of these. We won it at a dog show, so didn't have any choice of size, but it is 104 x 70 & she loves it. She could have probably been just as comfortable in the next size down. It has her soft matress & snuggle rugs in it. Very hard to get her out of bed in the mornings, & I imagine even harder, when her self-warming crate mat comes from Cleanrun  The cardboard box idea looks very snug & cute, but wouldn't last long with my two
  8. I've got no idea....but I bet someone is missing some gumboots
  9. That's just about it, Pers  Thanks Delta Charlie & FHRP, for all the trouble you went to for me, love all your photos. I managed to get just the ones I needed off the internet & the project is finished almost...just waiting on final approval from up above :) When all the entries are in, I might even put it up here for all to see
  10. Yes & that is why they are not that easy to get  Very few dogs at a trial will get a quallie, so don't feel bad or embarassed if you have a fault or two. It's all about having fun with your dog :) Most people are happy if they get round the course without being DQ'd (Disqualified). The vast majority of dogs in a trial will get DQ'd. Oh... What constitutes a dq? It's just hard as we have to travel 10 hours to get to any comps, a qually would be nice :) but, am looking forward to it anyways, regardless of the outcome :) A DQ is when the dog takes an off course obstacle eg. instead of taking jump 9, he takes the tunnel or he jumps 9 the wrong way (back jumps)..that is an instant DQ & even though you finish the rest of your run, no points are scored & you cannot win a place. You can be DQ'd also for things like being dangerous with equipment, touching your dog or going back to your dog after you have crossed the start line, abusing your dog. But...hey...don't worry about it, even the best handlers & dogs get more DQ's than Q's. it's all part of the fun. What ever you do, try not to show your disappointment to your dog...99% of faults are handler/training error & not the dogs fault.
  11. DC...I tried to message you my email address, but maybe your mail box is full :)
  12. Thanks guys Just wondering DC, how would I get a couple of photos from that list? & they are all copyrighted. FHRP...what if I PM you with my email address, if you have something a little different. Another question....instead of a Dog Walk, what would you call it??? Maybe High beam, or "walk the plank" I'm having fun with this :)
  13. Sorry but do you mean a papillon? Yep...I would love one, one day, but living on a farm, I would be worried the eagles would take it
  14. Too many to name but I have them listed HERE. For training I prefer to use home made, soft, easy to break apart & not too messy on the fingers. Go to that link & you will see what I mean & why different types of treats have their place.
  15. Any more adjectives from a spectators point of view Remember, You have never seen dogs do agility before & this is your first impression  I remember my first word when I saw a dog do the weave poles on a video...was WOW Wish I had more agility photos in my file besides my own two BC's.
  16. Sandgrubber :) I just purchased it online from Bookworld for $7.99 with free postage Australia wide.
  17. My small town with a population of about 300, more with surrounding areas, is about to host the NSW Northern Region three day agility trial. We have great facilities, the weather is more reliable than on the coast & of course, good food at the local pub  We had a trial here last year & I was disappointed that not many of the locals came out to watch. Feedback was that they didn't even know it was on, not even the PostMaster. So this time I want to make up some posters & distribute them around, to entice more people to come along & enjoy a good day out. Who knows, we might even pick up some new members for the dog clubs in the region I need suggestions....apart from the obvious things like Name of event & date etc.....what words would you use to describe dog agility to the general public...some of whom have never heard of it.
  18. Yes & that is why they are not that easy to get  Very few dogs at a trial will get a quallie, so don't feel bad or embarassed if you have a fault or two. 19. My daughter had a lab x border collie. She was more of a lab in structure but had the colour of a BC. My daughter couldn't resist those "give me more" Lab eyes & as a result she weighed 30 kilos at her last visit to the vet & the vet said she had to lose at least 3 kilos. Within a month she was dead of a probable heart attack, just before her fourth birthday. ETA... I think the weight for a Lab is about 30 kilos, so your dog is probably about 7 kilos overweight. Due to the fact that Labs are prone to hip & elbow problems, I would be tending to err on the lighter side if it were me. :)
  20. get your dog to walk to the shop to buy it & she may lose some weight, then you wont have to give so much :) Losing some weight would have to be better for her joints too, I would imagine.
