  1. No problems...glad it could help someone. I too like Kikopup, but did I give a link to Karen Pryor on that page?? If not, here is the link....I call her "the Queen of Clicker Training" Karen Pryor Clicker Training :)
  2. Great work PAX With Bindi I am now getting 3 legs in & with Cricket..well...most of the time he tries everything else including a lovely "bow" in the box  but we are getting there. I agree it would be a lot easier to have someone watching the back legs & doing the clicking. It is very hard to see what's going on behind
  3. My two BC's have always had bones, mainly turkey necks with no problem. Lately I have been freezing them to make the chewing experience last longer & they seem to love them frozen. If I can't get Turkey necks, then I freeze 3 or 4 chicken necks in a lump or a chicken wing or half a carcass frozen. Also, IMO if you have more than one dog, if you separate them while eating, then they are less likely to bolt the food/bone down & will take their time to chew it up. My guys have lovely teeth & gums :) I always supervise till the bone is gone.
  4. That's all I have got...a half size trestle table ( 1m x 1m & it folds in half) with a large non slip mat on top. Because the mat is not glued down, I can take it outside & shake it :) The size is perfect & fits the dog plus all my grooming stuff on it as well. Cost me about $50 all up.
  5. I have just got a very strong folding table 1m x 1m which I bought from Bunnings & I have a large non-slip mat on it. It seems to be just the right height for me & when I am not using it to groom the dogs I can take it camping
  6. Mine have yogurt made with cows milk, & my daughter's maltese X has had a cup of milky tea every morning for 14 years...& she's fine :)
  7. Left OH at home with Cricket last night while Bindi & I went to a party. Got home to this....Not sure what happened, but they were playing "101 Things to do With a Box" & either OH ran out of treats or Cricket got to number 101  Boys !!!!!
  8. They loved it Even had to lick each others bowls  The coconut oil made it a bit lumpy, but they didn't care.
  9. Loving the pictures of the oldies Love their old grey faces. I have my fingers crossed that my two will get to grow old too, but not too soon
  10. No problem here with my two...now onto about the fourth bag of F & P. They will still do tricks for it. I will shortly be opening a new bag, so I will see how they go.
  11. Thanks everybody. I just corrected my original post as it is Calcium Chloride I use to thicken my yogurt, not calcium sulphate. In any case, it is just added calcium. I also put more powdered milk into the mixture as well. It turned out well. I added the coconut oil while it was still warm then gave it an occasional stir while it was cooling in the fridge. Looks good enough to eat & smells divine. Will see how it goes tonight on their dinner :)
  12. I have always made my own yogurt & I usually add a few drops of Calcium Chloride which helps to thicken it. I thought I would start making it also for my dogs as it has all the good stuff in it like probiotic culture. Do you think it is OK to add the Calcium drops to it...can you overdo the calcium fed to dogs? I thought I would mix a cup of coconut oil into it once it has set (1 & 1/2 litres of yogurt). Also, those who feed yogurt, how much would you give them a day...I was thinking about 2 tablespoons each. Both BC's. Edited to correct..its Calcium Chloride, not Calcium Sulphate
  13. What's to stop the pup getting to & swallowing the battery
  14. no spraying for ticks in the house? is it because they don't tend to live in there if it's empty? Just wondering... I am new to it.. from memory as we went to inspect only once, the garden seems flat with grass (well maintain), it's small because it's townhouse. But I think it has hedging. As Kelpiecuddles says...ticks don't generally live in houses unless you have bandicoots in your loungeroom :) Are you moving into a tick area & do you really know that the house has fleas ??
  15. I think I had a tear in my eye when I first saw the painting...just the look on that little dog's face
  16. Sorry, I don't have anything to add to what others have said...but I was just wondering if you could tell me what an ambull puppy is
  17. I wrote an article recently on clicker training for beginners for a session I did for the dog club, & posted it on my web site for anyone to read. It probably covers just about everything you need to know about CT & answers most questions :) You are quite welcome to have a read, just click on this link Introduction to Clicker Training & then click on the PDF file. There are also some recommendations for further reading. Have fun...your dog sure will & welcome to the magical world of Clicker Training.
  18. This was too beautiful not to share I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew... In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me. Author ~ unknown
  19. I'm shaping that with both of mine at the moment. Larger box with low sides seems to help understanding. I am having some success. We now have three feet in the box & after I formally ended the session & walked away, I turned around & there she was standing back in the box with three feet...I couldn't click as I had no treats left, so it was just a "good dog" & a play. Also just had some success with boofhead with his criss/cross(paws). Previously I have been trying to get him to foot target, but he just keeps smashing it with his big paw. Just then I tried using my hand for him to foot target, half expecting to get a sore hand out of it, but he was really gently & caught on real quick. Isn't it great when the light bulb goes on  Leah...I am trying to imagine a "boot camp" training session with dogs...I bet you get a few licks on the face
  20. While googling for an answer to my above question, I came across this site Trick my Pup. Very simple instructions on how to teach your dog tricks from the very basics through to the difficult, based on clicker training.
  21. I have never heard of a tick bomb....what do you do with it :)
  22. How to teach a dog to stand with all four paws in or on a small object I have tried shaping with a bigger box, but all I can get is either front feet or back feet in at the one time. Others who have taught this, have you shaped it or lured it. She hasn't forgotten her "bow" & offers me a lovely bow in the box
  23. The only commercial treat I give my dogs is the occasional dried liver, but this is very rarely. I prefer to make my own healthy treats & keep them in the freezer. Here is a link to My Ideas & RecipesThe only chews my dogs get are a daily frozen turkey neck (1/2 if they are large). They have had deer antlers in the past & cow hooves, but I found both of these got very smelly when they were wet.
  24. I prefer to train a pure breed with good eyesight if that helps :D
  25. I think this was what I was getting at !!
