I'm not sure about that. I know we are trying to get them done in time, but are running out of time. We are about to order a new A-frame, so hopefully it will be ready by then. I'll see what I can find out for you :)

I have both my dogs running in Pairs together...only hope I can find someone willing to run one of my dogs  I am hoping the friend I am going with will do it, as she is only in about 3 events the whole time. I am not sure how it is going to work out with all the different rings & two dogs in different levels of competition.

I'm going with my two dogs. I think I am going to be pretty busy running both of them with all the rings they have  I am staying with a friend at a motel (not sure which one) but she has had it booked for twelve months. The weekend before the Nationals we have the 3 day NSW Northern Regional being held at our home town (Glenreagh)which is going to be huge this year because of the Nationals being held a few days later, so by the end of the two weeks I am really going to be knackered

Throw the treat on the floor & click just the millisecond BEFORE he picks it up. You can muffle the sound of the clicker by holding it in your pocket or putting a bit of blu tac in it. You can practice your precision without a dog. Get hubby to throw a ball into the air & you click when you think it is at it's highest point, then click again the exact moment it touches the floor & get hubby to judge how accurate you were. For more info, click on this link & follow down to the PDF file Introduction to Clicker Training& welcome to the fun world of Clicker Training, you & your dogs will have some fun.

Doesn't Want To Go To Bed
sheena replied to penstar1000's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Both my guys get a treat, usually a dried turkey cube, which I always refer to as a "cookie" & at night time I just say, "who wants a cookie" & they both race off to their respective beds...him in his crate & her to her/my bedroom.....works a charm :) -
Dancing With Dogs Freestyle & Heelwork To Music
sheena replied to kallistar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I am so not looking forward to the "putting it to music" part as I am a real dinosaur when it comes to modern ways with music. I am still back in the "tape deck" days. I know what music I want to do, but how to do it Anyway...I am a long way off that. Also, I don't know if I will ever compete as I would be too embarrassed. It probably wont progress any further than doing a performance for friends in the loungeroom, but we will have fun learning & already it has improved Bindi's focus on me for agility. -

I thought it must have been you....though I havn't seen you on here before :) I would love to see one of your dogs in action. We're not coming out to the Armidale trial as I am going down to the Easter Show to watch the agility, but will catch up someday. I havn't done much with my guys for a fortnight now as we are away caravanning, but am going home today early as it is raining so I hope to get stuck into it over the next couple of weeks & I will post a new video. -
Dancing With Dogs Freestyle & Heelwork To Music
sheena replied to kallistar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
hey Sheena, I'm hoping to run some DWD training soon, so if you ever want to come up the hill and join me in dancing, let me know :) Hi Schatzi's Mum...where is "up the hill" ??.....yes I am interested as there is nothing around where I live...nearest to me is the Gold Coast which is about 4 - 5 hours away. -
Never mind, at least you know that Coffs Harbour is a great place to live :) What sort of work are you looking for

What a crying shame the authorities have to wait till something like this happens before they do something about it I hope the boy is OK

If you get caught out without your harness & the situation is a bit too exciting for your pup do this. Take the lead about two thirds of the way down in your left hand & loop the loose end under his neck against his chest & bring it up on your right & hold it like you would a guide dog harness. You have the lead on both left & right sides of his chest with a handle at the top above his shoulders The lead is not tight against his chest, it just rest there while walking & only tightens when he pulls & he should back off. Not sure if I have explained this properly but it is very simple

Oh bugger!!!! I always go Border Collie day which is also Japanese Spitz day - 13th. And I always go on the main agility day which for me is agility & jumping, don't go much for gamblers etc. Heard through a friend that after all these years they finally put a roof over the dog stand, so what do they do, move the agility to the outdoor area way over the other side of the showground. With my bad knee I don't know if I can do 2 days in a row. eta, just had a look at the schedule & the main agility is the 12th, might be doable but all that walking just to get to the events. Might have to stay at one of the hotels on site, not likely. I would love to meet up so maybe if we PM each other with our mobile numbers, just in case you go. I am still not certain which one of those two days I will be going as I am going to have my little grandaughter with me, otherwise I would go both days :) A bummer that they have moved the agility ring & what happens now if it rains That other ring was rather cramped & dangerous though.

I've often wondered this my self...as to how many eggs can they have. When my chooks are laying well, I will often feed them a raw egg every second night.
-
Well done...now you can both enjoy your walks & still train at the same time
-
Birds or rats :)

I'm going either the 12th or the 13th to watch the agility

Dancing With Dogs Freestyle & Heelwork To Music
sheena replied to kallistar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
 You're not alone there PME. I'm staring to panic a tad now - I do have music edited - and some ideas ... but choreo is still a work in progress - have ideas about costume (will be simple) - props - likewise. Why did I enter 2 dogs in 2 xlasses each??? Time is an issue - just finishing an online course - working slot - at the Fenzi academy - great!! but tine consuming - and dogs have a busy calendar - Rally and obedience trials last week, agility doubles this weekend and next weekend ... gulp! @ sheena - that course looks really interesting. Hope she offers it again. I think it's available at any time Tassie :) -
My masters dog (Bindi) did her best but handler error meant that she didn't get any Q's. But my young dog Cricket, first run back after a long break from trials & he got his first ever Q in Agility. We did it in 35 seconds including the table. We had 72 seconds to do it in, so he did it in less than half the time First place of course, by a mile. All the other events he went in we only made one mistake (mine every time). But he is such fun to run & I am very proud of them both. I had 12 runs all together on the Saturday, so I was really knakered & had a giant blister by bed time & on the Sunday we had to pull out of all our runs as both OH & I had to run the Gamblers ring & we were a bit short handed The four of us were going to run Pairs together...but ..oh well there is always a next time.

Sounds like she is having fun DTD. We didn't have our class tonight as we were all too bug***rd after the weekend trail. Did you get to come & watch ??

sheena replied to kallistar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We havn't done much now for at least a week, as I have been too busy with the agility trial. But it did give me good opportunities to practice her attention exercises in a very distracting environment. She was all eyes for me so I would say that the DWD course is also helping with her other activities :) -
Depending on where you are going to work, but the hinterland around Coramba, Nana Glen or south to Mylestom (on the beach)...all lovely places & may be easier to get pet rental. Also the further you get away from the beachie areas, the ticks seem to taper off.
-
You can tell the dog thinks she is the best  He's having a ball. But oh, all that energy, just watching her makes me feel

I have lived in the area for about 30 years, but are on a farm. I am not sure about the rentals or if it is more harder to rent with a pet, than other coastal areas. Yes we have ticks, so it's Advantix fortnightly all year round & heartworm monthly. I believe we have an outbreak of Parvo in the area at the moment & up around Grafton they have kennel cough. Ticks are not a problem provided you keep up with the Advantix & search daily. On the plus side it has the best climate on the coast along with Port Macquarie (IMO), winters are only six weeks long. We have lots of lovely beaches that are practically deserted & you can take your dog to a lot. We have Pet Friendly caravan parks & motels. Lots of lovely drives in the country with beautiful mountains, waterfalls & picnic spots. On the coast you will get sandflies, which really seem to love my blood  And the biggest PLUS of all is that we have a fabulous dog club. Both my daughters never had much trouble finding pet friendly rental, but when you do find rental, you will probably need to pay about $300 - $360 per week.

Havn't got much else to offer than what others have said, except to add, NEVER lift her in or out of the play pen over the top. If you do, then you have just taught her that the way out is over the top of the wire.

I have never tried Holistic Select but have been feeding Black Hawk for four years now & will continue to do so. I have two BC's. The young guy, on advice from others, including breeders, I raised on Black Hawk ADULT since I got him at 10 weeks...I never bothered with puppy food. For under 6 month puppies, you feed them double the adult rate, if feeding the adult food, then gradually reduce it till he is just on the normal adult rate. I am certainly glad I didn't feed him puppy food, as he grew into a tall boy. The only other food that I have tried during the last four years was a bag of TOTW Coastal Catch & my girl lost weight on it even though I was feeding her more. They get their kibble at night & turkey neck in the morning.
