Rose Hip Vital Canine powder....I buy 500 grams off Ebay usually for about $95 including postage.
-
It is now over 36 hours & still no sign. She has just done a large "Pal" poo, but nothing. Still showing no signs of being ill.
-
I buy the Rose Hip Canine powder on Ebay & I use it for myself & also give it to my girl dog. I can't see any difference in the powder whether it is human or canine. The Rose Hip Vital people themselves have told me there is no difference & people can use the canine one & vice a versa. You can also use the one put out for horses, but it has a small amount of molasses added. A spoon full of the canine one is still the same as a spoonful of the human one.

Yes...the woman who gave it to her. Apparantly it all happened so quickly that by the time my OH noticed that something was wrong, it was too late. Only a matter of seconds...the woman had her fingers in Bindi's mouth trying to retrieve it. I would have thought that she would have had the decency to contact me today & ask how she is Others have ....

One more poo....firm & normal colour..still no packaging. Must be still a bit early. I will give her some more Pal for dinner.
-
Thanks everybody for the reassurance . I was lucky to find a can of Pal (I had a choice of Pal or Pal ) at the local little store & have given her a feed of that. That stuff would make anyone poop Now to wait & see. My young guy just did a poop too, & it was black & tarry like hers was this morning, so I suspect she must have fed him some too.

What happened last night was an accident, but one waiting to happen. What concerns me most about people giving their treats to other people's dogs is that these training treats are usually pretty strong stuff & some dogs cannot tolerate certain foods. There is also the risk of choking, apart from teaching the dogs bad habits. I am going to ram it home to my class next week & have asked the other instructor to do the same. Hopefully, this woman has learnt something, but I doubt it...how can you learn something when you already know everything

Trying To Find The Breeder With Herizon Prefix
sheena replied to SoCares Wyong ACF's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm too late...I missed it Now I can only imagine -
Thanks everyone...she is fine & bouncy this morning & OH has just taken them for a walk on the beach. She has to stay on lead till she passes it, so we can examine every poop. Unfortunately, we are camping ATM, so the only oil I have in the cupboard is olive oil. But all these suggestions are good, as I should have a few things on hand back home. She didn't steal the liverwurst. This woman holds it in her hand & squeezes it out to treat her dogs. OH was standing next to her holding our two dogs while he was watching the instruction of the class going on, which I was instructing. This woman just must have thought it would be nice to give Bindi some, without asking first & the first my OH realised something was wrong was the woman was trying to wrestle something out of Bindi's mouth. All she had to do, was tell her to "drop it" & Bindi would most probably have spat it out, but she panicked & it disappeared. As no-body could really agree on exactly what size this thing was that she swallowed, I was reluctant to get her to vomit (not that I would know how) in case she choked. It's not the first time this person has tried to give my dogs things....she produced this sausage on the weekend & I told her "NO".... I think I should make a point of this & tell my class that they are not to give treats to other people's dogs without asking first. When Bindi does pass it, I am going to take a photo & post it on FB & tag her in it. ETA...Just an update...OH has come back from the beach. She did a poo & he disected it carefully & couldn't find anything in it. It was quite normal (firm) but quite dark, which could be because of the liver content.
-
I only gave her half a meal, because I wasn't too sure if I should feed her anything. I gave her half her normal kibble plus a raw egg, some olive oil & beef stock. I really didn't think that making her vomit would be the right thing to do,in case she brought it only half way up & choked on it. If I knew all the RIGHT things to do, then I wouldn't be on here asking the DOL Brains trust
-
I saw her feeding it to her dog on the weekend. She was squeezing it out of its casing into the dogs mouth. The plastic is pink & is the plastic casing of the liverwurst sausage. I would imagine the metal bit is the little metal clip that holds those type of sausages together.
-
Some well meaning person at training tonight fed my dog some liverwurst while I was instructing the class Would not have been so bad, but my dog ate the whole lot including about 5 inches of the plastic wrapper & the little metal bit that holds the roll together. Needless to say, she is going to sleep with me tonight so I can keep an eye on her & I have given her about a tablespoon of olive oil with only half her normal dinner plus some home made beef stock. How long does it take for something like this to either pass through or show signs of obstruction etc. It happened about two hours ago & ATM she is fine. I really do wish people would ask before they give someone else's dog something to eat I did not leave her unattended, OH was holding her lead, while busy watching the class & didn't notice the other person giving her the treat.

Finally, Bindi & I have managed our Masters Agility title But it has been a long battle & I think she has worn out my wick Thinking very seriously of retiring her I am getting too loud on course & it is not a good look & I hate myself afterwards to the point of tears. She was on a role yesterday & I had her working nicely with me & about to run an absolutely beautiful course & my OH just suddenly turned up to watch. The result was not pretty & I withdrew her off the course after just a few obstacles. I apologised later to the judge when he wasn't busy, but it was all too much for me & I really considered giving up on agility there & then

Feeding Coconut In Non Oil Form
sheena replied to Ivory & Beau's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The only one to use is the virgin cold pressed coconut oil, which is mainly sold in health food shops. When I feed it to my dogs, I just scrape it out of the jar & feed it as is, on top of their food. In summer time, I store the jar in a warm spot, so that it is nearly always in a soft or melted state. We use it for cooking & also use it on my face. I find it is the ONLY thing to relieve dry lips :) -
Best Agility Dvds Or Online Courses

I just love the "Dial up The Distance" :) -
Twice a day...around 9am they get their 1/2 turkey neck & 8pm they get their cup of kibble, topped with yogurt and a raw egg or 1/2 dozen sardines. I get 2 poops a day, nice & firm.

What Trick Are You Teaching Your Dog

How did you get him to just sit pretty & not go up on his back legs???? -
I thought it was just my imagination, but my two go through a lot of water when they are being fed this too. I wouldn't say it was excessive, but certainly a lot more than when they are eating their regular dry.

The only cattle dogs I have known have been aggressive. We have one at agility training & when he is running, all other dogs have to be put well away & she gets it around the course by holding a treat in front of its nose to keep it from running off & having a go at the other dogs. The owner has recently bought a second one from the same breeder & I believe that it has a very similar temperament They can also quite often be deaf.

What about "toes" or "silly walk" ?? I will have to try that one. I was having trouble with "beg" as they kept jumping up. I found I had more control over it if I put my hand close to the top of the head & slightly back. No lure, just a hand target. But I think I will just use "beg" when they get it all together. I use "dance" for up on hind legs. -
Bindi loves a cuddle & a kiss. She is always trying to get as close to me as she can. The boy dog only just tolerates it & you can see on his face that he really wishes that I would go away, cause he thinks it's only for sissies  Not sure about the talking thing I talk a lot to them & never thought it could do any harm. A lot of the time, the things I say to them & think they probably understand, not really what I am saying but by the tone of my voice. The boy dog, when he stuffs up the weaves or misses a contact, we always mark it with an "whoops", now he gets in before we can say it & says "Wooooooooops" I don't "pat" on the head, but I will gently rub around their ears & elsewhere. I think some people are a little heavy handed with the pat. Good points to keep in mind when engaging with other people's dogs, though.

Not only in this a good read for us grown ups but also something we can tell our kids 11 Things that humans do that dogs hate
-
Me too....the dog is probably getting more worked up because it thinks it's owner is distressed
-
Nah we'll probably keep to vic as their school hols will be finished by then and everywhere (hopefully) will be more peaceful. Oh and for anyone wondering...we are allowed to take the dogs in the motorhome, it's dog friendly. Who are you hiring through, if you are allowed to say...being dog friendly sounds good :)
