Just one word of warning....a woman at training had a tube of liverwurst, which she was squeezing out for her dog to lick. She offered my dog some while I was not looking. GRRRRRRRRR.... I have told her before NOT TO FEED MY DOG. Anyway to cut a long story short.....Bindi grabbed the whole lot & swallowed it, 6 inch of casing, little metal clip & all. It took her 40 hours to pass it, & I was not a happy duck I have heard a similar story about these licky stick things with a larger breed dog.

I found an old thread on this, but it was 4 years old....so thought I would pop the question again. We have a fenced in part of our veranda, in which my girl spends most of her day. It is approximately 12 sq meters & has a wooden slat floor. She has a kennel & a day bed there & I use it as a transition area for her to drop all the dirt or dry off after swimming before she is allowed to come inside. I bought a couple of cheap sq meter pieces of artificial turf from Bunnings & put it down, and apart from looking good she had fun rolling on it & scratching her back after a swim this morning. I was thinking maybe of laying it over the whole area. Most concern, would be, does it give off dangerous chemicals & would she be inclined to wee on it. I am thinking that, she would not wee on it as she would think it were carpet. The area is open to the elements on ocassions, if the rain is blowing in that way & it gets the western sun.

I will probably get a 3rd (BC of course) in about 3 or 4 years time, as my girl will then be about 11. I do think that 3 will be a lot more work, with grooming etc, not to mention the cost of applying Advantix every two weeks throughout the year. OH thinks it will be a lot more difficult travelling & camping with 3 BC's....& I know he is right. I have my next breeder picked out, but we will wait & see, how we feel when the time comes. Also, I think I would like another girl, but I don't want to put Bindi's nose out of joint either.....so not a decision to take lightly.

New Blackhawk Grainfree - Available Yet?
sheena replied to seregil's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It will be interesting to compare the ingredients with the NG's. My guys don't need "grain free" & they do well on the BH Lamb & also the Fish, but lately I have been buying the odd Natures Goodness GF Wild Game when Woolies have it on special. Even at wholesale price, I don't think I will bother. I guess it is a comparable price to TOTW :) but that's not Australian & I like to feed 100% Australian product to my dogs. -

It's not cheap...the price list I have here RRP Chicken for Dogs 3kg $35.95 & $37.95 for the feline chicken one (3 kg)It would need to be mighty good to compare to the Natures Goodness Grain Free which retails for around $17 for 3 kg. -

Buy a cheap electric fence & run a hot wire around the top...they will only touch it once. If they are diggers as well, then you can run a wire around the bottom of the fence. Wow, didn't even think of that and as I have a horse I have heaps of hot wire :) I have seen on FB the PVC piping that you put on wire above gates etc - the idea is that it spins and the dog can't get a purchase on it??? I like the hot tape idea better though, I already have 2 battery run units and only use one at a time, so I don't need to buy a thing. Thanks heaps, I am getting very excited now. Most dogs only have to touch it once & they never forget. The fence around my BC's is only 90cm high, but a hot wire runs about 12 cm above this & they would never think of climbing out. The only fence that one has tried to get over is the swimming pool fence

Finally, Bindi & I have managed our Masters Agility title But it has been a long battle & I think she has worn out my wick Thinking very seriously of retiring her I am getting too loud on course & it is not a good look & I hate myself afterwards to the point of tears. She was on a role yesterday & I had her working nicely with me & about to run an absolutely beautiful course & my OH just suddenly turned up to watch. The result was not pretty & I withdrew her off the course after just a few obstacles. I apologised later to the judge when he wasn't busy, but it was all too much for me & I really considered giving up on agility there & then I only have one trial left, which is in September. I am hoping for ADO3 for Bindi & I have been deliberately holding Cricket back, so he stays in Novice Agility longer....but I think this trial I might "go for it". It would be nice for him to get his Novice Agility Title this year. :)

What Trick Are You Teaching Your Dog

I think from memory...I might have used a clothes peg on her ear to get this behaviour :) -
What a shame.....I love a well bred Staffy
-
Just found this page on Face Book. The creators, I would say are trying to do the right thing....but nearly every advertisement is for Staffy's, most of them Blue or other Bull breed dogs. Even the creators of the page themselves...make comment on the number of Staffies Edited...to remove the link....but there are many links on Facebook for these Blue Staffies

Has anyone tried their canned food. I bought a few cans today to keep handy in the cupboard.
-
Depends on what you can buy them for, But I havn't found them to be cheaper, when you factor in that one teaspoon of the powder is equiv. to 5 capsules,

Great one VM  When the kids were little & OH sometimes did the cooking, I remember he once put Bonnie Dog food in the Spagetti Spag. The kids thought it was delicious, till he told them what was in it. He also used CalfPab to thicken a curry. I don't let him cook now, unless it is a bar-b-q :)

Have you had any experience with the Ruffwear DoubleBack harness? The Web Master looks really nice but I'm worried she'd still be able to squirm backwards out of it because there's nothing stopping it from slipping forwards, if you get what I mean. I got the Webmaster Ruffwear for my Houdinni dog. I use it in the car as a car harness & it is the only one he hasn't been able to slip out of & believe me, I have spent a small fortune in trying to get the right harness for him. This one is fabulous & I got it from K9Pro. I also have to walk him in a harness as he slips collars (all sorts) as quick as a flash.

Yay for BINDI Yay for Pal dog food..... Yes...I always thought there must be some use for Pal dog food :)

I had the same problem. Maybe it works but it's hard to tell when your dog will not voluntarily ingest the stuff. And in my case, the dog in question is a filthy glutton who'll eat anything you put in front of him, which leads me to think it can't taste that good to some dogs. My dog eats it no problem, sprinkled on her dinner. I have it mixed into my cereal & I don't mind the taste :) It gets stuck in my teeth sometimes.

We have success 40 hours after it happened...out it came. You don't know how happy I was to see that poop  Thanks everyone for your moral support. :)

She has been by my side 24 hours a day since it happened. Either tethered or walking on lead & she is sleeping with me. She woke me up this morning with a beautiful sloppy kiss
