  1. How do you manage cleaning it,sheena? Horrible Herbert is completing a degree in engineering. The dirt and mud that flies over the back yard finds its way into any containers. I just pull it out of it's hole, tip it out & clean it. It stands about 10 inches out of the ground, so not much rubbish gets in there. The dogs seem to like a bit of algae. If I make it too clean, they go off & drink the stinking water out of the fountain, which is usually full of camelia flowers etc. Even though I have put wire over it, they still seem to be able to get to it.
  2. I have a very large plastic bucket sunk half way into the ground...impossible to move when full
  3. Not at the moment...might wait till it comes in bigger bags :)
  4. Pretty expensive @ $10 per kilo...I think I would be sticking to BH or VIP Grain Free. Though I must say the BH Grain Free one is a bit on the expensive side. I am lucky my guys don't need "grain free" :)

    He's a BIG kelpie...what is he crossed with ???
  6. Yes....don't tell him to sit. Shape him into sitting on his own. Have you used a clicker with him?? If he were my dog, I would practice this with his crate, with his food bowl & with doors etc. Wait for him to sit at the door, then immediately click & TREAT (he is a Lab) as soon as his bum makes contact with the floor. You may have to break his sit down into small increments, if he is over excited at the door.... clicking & treating as he progresses. With my dogs, they have to wait at the door,(not necessarily sitting) but as soon as their paw or nose moves forward, before I give my release command, I shut the door. Doesn't take them long to work it out :)
  7. It's really been available for ages now...we've been selling it now for over a year. It's not entirely grain free though, it still contains rice & oats, but hasn't any of the problem grains like corn, wheat or soy :)
  8. Yes...only when she touches your hand with her nose & only put a Q on it when she is doing it reliably, then you can fade out the clicker. Use that to shape something else, which might be to lick your hand, which you would then put on Q. :)
  9. I am going to recommend the tea to someone whose dog has itchy red feet...but it's so long since I used it, I have forgotten what strength to make it. How much leaf/tea per litre :)
  10. I absolutely loath pet insurance....it just all seems a rip-off. I've never had it & never will, I just carry my own insurance for my dogs.
  11. Really lovely :) & hope you get some rain soon to turn it all green.....lucky dogs
  12. Bindi has two favourite toys, both now hardly recognisable. They are two stuffed birds that I got from Clean Run years ago & when the dog bit on them they would whistle. she loves them so much that if I bury them in the bottom of the toy basket, she will rip every tow out till she finds them. They are now almost completely destuffed. However, silly me didn't pay much attention to this till I picked up a battery off the floor. So then I had to go look for all the parts to whatever it was that made them whistle Every time I pick the grotty things up I am tempted to put them in the bin, but she loves them so much, I think she would go searching for them if they disappeared.
  13. If I were to come across a horse & rider while at the beach, I would put my dogs on a leash...simple. I think riders have just as much right to be on the beach as dogs & anyone who thinks their dog might be at risk....just slip it back on the lead till the horse has gone.
  14. I just googled Masters & I think this is the huge big store that Woolworths is building in Coffs, less than 500 meters from the new huge Bunnings store.
  15. I am not sure if there are any council rules regarding horse poo. But the difference between Horse Poo & Dog Poo, is that horses are herbivors, so there is not much else in horse poo except grass. It is also easy to see, so less likely to step in it compared to dog poo. I don't find horse poo offensive, like dog poo :) Not saying there shouldn't be any rules though.
  16. Agree...neither of my dogs have any problems whatsoever :)
  17. i don't bait anything, but we live in suburbia, so could have. We did have two very healthy blueys down the side of the shed which we blocked off from the dogs but seems that one of them maybe wandered out across the garden to visit someone else? Or another one has come onto the property. We seem to have one here permanently which we desperately try to keep safe from the dogs, but a terrier is a terrier. What symptoms would she be displaying if the lizard had eaten bait? I am not really sure, but I imagine that vomiting would be one of the symptoms
  18. You still havn't answered my question :) I shall repeat....do you health & genetic test & hip score the dogs that you breed from & sell on behalf of your family & friends. Genuine question from one who loves Border Collies (that you breed) & like to see the right thing done by them.
  19. Any chance the lizard may have had a feed of snail bait ???
  20. I would guess that a lot of wild dogs & foxes would be eating poo as a regular part of their diet. Chook & duck poo could be nutritious as poultry are omnivores
  21. 10 bitches & limit the number of litters a bitch can have to 5. I wonder how they are going to police that with unregistered backyard bogans The puppy farmers don't register their pups anyway....so how will they know if a particular unregistered bitch has had more than five litters
  22. In response to the quote from the OP, I hope you also realise that reputable breeders take back any dogs they have bred if the dogs find themselves in need, such as in a pound. If your fifteen bitches had one litter each year of five dogs that would make 75 pups a year. It's a lot of pups to be responsible for. Not saying that you are not a responsible breeder, just wondering that's all. Yes...& that's only if they have average of 5 pups per litter. That's a lot of loving homes to find. What happens to the ones that you can't find suitable & loving homes for A good breeder will go out of their way to find the "right" homes for their pups. Do you health & genetic test your breeding stock?????.....
