  1. I noticed K9 Pro have them, but not in red....think I might order mine from them...always get good service & like to support a DOL'er :) They have them in a dark pink. I planned on getting it from k9pro too, but they didn't have the colour and size I need... And I'm too impatient for a back order, haha. The pink is gorgeous! I'm going for orange :) Which size were you after? I just had a shipment arrive this afternoon and you will be able to use the DOL discount too (if you haven't already ordered). I sent you a PM :)
  2. Stacy Richards is running on-line courses at the moment...for those who know Stacy. I like to support our home-grown trainers where possible & her courses are VERY affordable. I am doing one at the moment & really enjoying it. It cost me $100 for an 8 week course. She can be found here Cutedogs Agility

  4. Oh dear...I feel that I am being "enabled" But what do I do with all my other harnesses....is there a market for 2nd hand harnesses I can really identify with the person who wrote that article
  5. I have been doing quite a bit of reading on this Scalibor& other technical data on the collar. Many times I have read reference to how the active ingredient works & keep coming up with this:- Under normal conditions, deltamethrin is continuously released by friction between the collar and the hair coat after it is fitted correctly to a dog. Since deltamethrin is highly lipophilic, it gradually spreads over the total body surface of the dog through the lipid layer on the skin surface. Scalibor exerts optimal control of paralysis and brown dog ticks commencing 2-3 weeks after it is applied to a dog that has not been treated previously with Scalibor. Also: Water resistant protection • Can be worn even when swimming • Wet conditions do not alter deltamethrin release Degreasing or antiseborrheic shampoos remove lipid film from skin and temporarily reduce efficacy of topical ectoparasiticides, including the SCALIBOR Protector Band. Unlike monthly-applied ectoparasiticides, however, the SCALIBOR Protector Band can start re-delivering the active ingredient, deltamethrin, as soon as bath time is over
  6. Put a light lead on him & let him drag it around (supervised of course). What are you using for treats & is he hungry when he is doing lead training??? If not do the training before he is fed. Does he understand the clicker ???? Definately don't try & pull him along, this will only make him more stubborn. Another thing you could try is have his lead on him at dinner time & lead him to his food. Starting out a short distance away & gradually increase the distance. :) There are a few things I would try, but I think, that you need to make sure he is hungry & keen to work for his treats & use really yummy treats...not that salty stuff you buy in supermarkets. My guys turn up their noses at that & would rather work for cardboard
  7. If Scalibor collars work in the same fashion as topicals, then swimming would no more reduce the effectiveness of the Scalibor, than it does with Advantix, & we all know that swimming has no effect on the effectiveness of Advantix, except where the swimming or bathing occurs directly either side of applying the Advantix. Shampooing with a degreasing shampoo, I can understand would reduce it's effectiveness, just like it does with Advantix where it is advised to use a soap free shampoo. Seems like it is no use to me though, as I would need to keep Advantix on my dogs for the first few weeks. I might try them at the beginning of next summer.
  8. How easy are they to take on & off ?? What do you do while you are waiting the 2 - 3 weeks for the collar to take effect?? Can you use them with Advantix for this period ??? Sorry about all the questions :)
  9. So in effect, what you are saying is that if your dog swims with or without the scalibor collar, then the dog is unprotected for 1 to 3 weeks ?? Then how do all the above posters claim that their dogs are protected ...I am very confused
  10. So if the dogs were wearing them swimming a few times a week, how often would you change to a new collar to remain protected from ticks.?
  11. Do you take it off to swim, and then put it back on a wet dog ? & does it take a while to become effective again. My guys swim daily, so I would have to be on & off with the collar, or can you leave it on, apart from it being no good for aquatic life, which I don't have in my pool
  12. With my two, I found it impossible to attach them to the seat belt buckle. The girl is a spinner & would be tangled up within the first couple of minutes & the boy learnt to free himself by stepping on the buckle. I attach my harnesses either to the cargo barrier behind the seat or to one of the child anchors.
  13. When I am shopping for food (human) I always try to buy Australian produce/Australian Owned, but if this is not available, & there is a NZ one available I will always go for that, 2nd to Australian. I posted above BH's response to peoples queries over whether or not it is still Aus. owned & you have all read the response. It is probably a bit of a fine line between whether Masterpet Aust is Australian seeing it is listed on the Aust. stock exchange etc. But even if it were now NZ owned, I would still buy it over everything else that is available, as long as it continued to be made from Austrlian Ingredients & manufactured here providing jobs for Australians. I am sure if someone offered me over $57 million for my homegrown business ...it would be very hard to knock back. I think BH have done a great job in securing the future of BH here in Australia, keeping Aussie farmers & Aussie workers in a job. :)
  14. I ticked the "only Oz" box, but I would like to point out to you that you have your facts wrong.... Here is a copy & paste from Black Hawk...hope this clears things up a bit :) We would like to take the time to officially announce some changes that have occurred over the last two weeks and also address some concerns people have about Black Hawk the brand. An announcement was made on 31st October 2014 that Black Hawk had been sold to Masterpet Australia (part of the EBOS group of companies). This was a difficult decision to make, but one that we feel is a positive step forward for Black Hawk. We are still proudly Australian made and owned. Masterpet Australia has a sister company called Masterpet NZ, which is also where Masterpet originally began their amazing journey. We understand there is some confusion about Black Hawk being made or owned “off shore”. We can assure you this information is from an uninformed source, who may have had only half the story. All Black Hawk products will continue to be manufactured here in Australia, in the same factory as before the sale. All our recipes will remain unchanged and we will continue to deliver new product extensions as needed. The same team will be managing the brand from our Victorian head office and we will still have the same passion for the brand as always. Our sales team will remain the same and will now have an added support structure from Masterpet Australia’s sales teams. All our distributors will remain the same and they will still have direct access to our office as needed, so business as usual there. So, apart from ownership, nothing has really changed, but we will have an opportunity to give our customers more benefits moving forward. We would like to thank our loyal customers for their support and understanding during this period and we look forward to an exciting future for Black Hawk. Kindest Regards, The Black Hawk Team
  15. Does it need to be a toy?? Not all dogs are toy motivated...maybe food might be his thing
  16. I started this thread in General, but got no response to my question :) I have ordered a Belly Band for my BC & am going to town today & need to get an idea of what the best type of pad is to put inside it. It's a long, long time since I had any need for them  He is a large dog & I have ordered the 50 to 60 cm size.
  17. They have the same main ingredient so its strange the dog is okay with Permoxin. Usually dogs can't tolerate either if they react. Maybe it is the carrier in the Advantix that her dog can't tolerate
  18. Sometimes good quality food can be expensive for some. Some buy dog food when they buy livestock food. I know stock feeders here sell the cheaper dog food, though one does actually sell BH. I would give the company a call and let them know and if you still have the bag, they might allow you to change it? Never smelt it myself as I don't think we get it here. There must be lots of better quality foods available, than Barkos, that are not expensive. Bonnie is sold at produce stores & that is not what you would consider expensive & lots of dogs do well on Bonnie, if premium food is not affordable.
  19. No problems.... We learn something new every day, or at least, I know I do :)
  20. Is there any reason why you can't use a better quality food
  21. I've ordered a belly band...what size pad would I put inside ??? It's that long since I have had any use of them  so not sure what size to buy for a dog :)
  22. My dogs are both sporting dogs, but to me that's just part of having fun with your pet...doing a sport together...they are still pets, or I should say, members of our family :)
