I'm not exactly sure what you mean, by like a rabbit....but I thought a lot of dogs canter with their two back feet together (going forward at the same time) I can't say ALL dogs, as there are probably some out there that canter different.

My young guy was already crate trained when I got him at 9 weeks....he loves his crate

A very beautiful read :) Your Dogs Love Letter “I am your dog, and I have a little something I’d like to whisper in your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.

Got a phone call from the courier depo today to say that my goodies from Loyalty Pet Treats had arrived. I won't be able to pick them up for another 5 days....asked if the box was smelling the office out & he said it just smelt like dog treats :) So the tripe must be fairly well sealed.

This guy is 77 years old & has had knee & back surgery, but that doesn't stop him winning big time, with his BC Crush. Watching handlers like this, gives me hope :)

A little off topic...but if you are looking for somewhere to stay down there.....we thoroughly recommend this place Drumreagh at Deloraine. It is very, very reasonably priced, lovely lady & pet friendly. We have staid there often :)

I love Launceston & it's surrounding towns :) If ever I move to Tassie, that is the area I would be looking & only a couple of hours drive from Cradle Mountain. 30 minutes from Deloraine (lovely place)

I find the dried mussels & fish a bit too much, but I must be getting used to it, as I can only smell them now when I take the lid off the container. I am starting to feel sorry for the poor courier who is picking them up for me

  Just keep it in a tightly sealed jar. I use those Moccona Coffee jars because they have airtight seals. I've bought a whole kilo of it...though it would make good training treats....but I might have every dog for miles chasing me

I've got some coming from Loyalty Pet Treats...not sure if I am really looking forward to it now

Yes it is cute little fluffie crosses that he has on his web page. Are these puppy/kitten traders taking the place of Pet Shops for selling animals -

For those who missed it ...without mentioning any names...it was about a guy from Byron Bay who is advertising in a lot of newspapers around Australia, wanting to buy ALL your puppies..even without microchips or vacs. RSPCA reckon they can do nothing about it, but surely they could get him for buying puppies that are not microchipped. He is reselling them...what happens to the pups he cannot sell -

Fair enough...I also thought it might name & shame :) going by the posts on Facebook at the moment. The scum is advertising all over Australia. -
Did my post get removed that I put in about the scum that are advertising to buy all your litters...I would have thought it would have made interesting conversation A quick search shows that it seems they are advertising all over the country.

Our possum population is estimated to be around 30 million! We have a few commercial foods made with possum. And really nice possum fur gloves :)

20 to 30 minutes is WAY too much at that age, or any age if it is all in one session. I would be aiming for one to three minutes per session, then end the session on a high note while he is still enjoying himself & always have a party big time, then use your "end of training" cue & disconnect from him. This is so he can recognize when training has ended & he can relax. Several very short sessions a day would be fine IMO, but keep them short. Good idea to use his food for training, but keep sessions short. :) Even to a grown dog, 5 minutes of mental work is the equivilent to a 30 minute walk. Good on you for using the clicker As most people here on DOL know that I am a clicker nut  & Kikkopup is my favourite. Make sure that EVERY time you click that you deliver a treat...even if you make a mistake & click the wrong thing. This is the same as if you were using a marker word, like "yes" otherwise the clicker/marker word will quickly lose it's value as a "marker"

If it were a snake, then it would only be a harmless tree snake or a carpet snake. It might just be something simple like a gecko in the wall. Or maybe she hurt herself, ie. pulled a muscle one day going up the stairs & now blames the stairs or the hallway for her pain.

Before my Dad died, I went with Mum to the cemetry as she wanted to show me the plot & how lovely it was. I had Bindi with me & left her in the car under the shade of a tree, while Mum & I walked. After my Dad passed away & I went back to to the cemetry to visit. I left her in the car & only had to go about 20 feet to see Dad's grave. She was not a happy dog....barked & carried on, really stressed out. the next time I visited the grave, I took her out of the car on a lead, & she was still terribly stressed. Didn't bark but kept shaking & panted so heavily I amn not sure if she could sense all the "death" around her or if it was just because she could sense that Dad was there. She never had a very close connection to Dad as he was not a "dog" person, but she did spend a lot of time with him before he died. Have you thought that there might be a resident snake living in your wall. My girl can smell a reptile a mile away & goes all cautious :) But my first thought was a ghost.

It certainly settles them. I think the "homework" thing is a great idea...wish I could have been given homework when I first started to train. I have a really lovely BC in the class with heaps of drive & confidence, but OH just told me that they mentioned they were having trouble with him jumping on them & scratching them. Hopefully the parking will help with that, but I thought I might just send them a bit of "extra" to work on. He is a lovely dog & nice owners. We had trouble getting him through the short tunnel, but with a little bit of shaping, finally he went through all by himself. It was party, party, party So he really is a blank slate :)

Oh dear, don't you just hate it when they do that  I am not sure, but I like to keep mine out of the water for at least 24 hours after I apply it, but that is probably just me. If you do wash him, make sure it is a soap free shampoo. I don't use Advantix anymore, I give them a Nexgard tablet once a month.

And I did just as you see in the original video & along with my two helpers we went around & chatted to the students, introducing ourselves, shaking hands & completely ignoring the dogs Mrs. Rusty Bucket, if you want some homework, just PM me your email address & I can send it to you each week as I do it up for my class. I also do it for my advanced class. I have had good feedback from the first lesson & some are actually ASKING for homework I am only learning myself...always will be & I find by doing up notes on the lessons helps me to get my mind around things as well. So it's just a matter of turning my "work notes" into PDF file & sending them to my students. It is after all, very difficult for someone to take in all that is being taught in class & if they have the notes to refer to, it is a big help. Mind you, I am the only instructor at our club that does this & the other instructor is petrified that her class will want the same, as she is a one finger typist

An update on "Parking Your Dog" & the method used in my original post. My Foundation Agility Class started last night. I had eight new dogs & handlers, all keen to become superstars overnight  The first thing I did after a general introduction, without their dogs, was to get their dogs out, find a space where they & their dogs were comfortable & showed them how I wanted them to "Park" their dogs, so they could concentrate on what I was saying, instead of fiddling with their dogs. OMG, I can't believe how well it worked. They parked their dogs while waiting their turns & lined up with their dogs in park. I have never taken a Beginner class before, but I am so impressed with this lot The first week was washed out, so I sent them some homework to do, which included some basic foundation stuff they could teach in the lounge room, plus a simple trick to teach their dog. I am going to try & keep the "homework" going, for as long as I am instructing these guys. I give my Advanced guys homework too. Just thought I would like to share, just how happy I am with my new class. I have never taught a Foundation Class before & I can tell you....I was a bit nervous...strange people & strange dogs.

If you want something for his teething, then I would go frozen turkey necks..chop the larger ones in half before you freeze them. That gives him something nutritious to chew on & the cold will sooth his gums :) You can freeze them all flat on a tray (not touching each other) then pack them away in the freezer.
