  1. Picture 2 is Rhoea (Sp)(Moses in the Cradle) definately, it is not wandering jew but it is poisonous to dogs. Not sure if the first one is a cycad which is also poisonous & 5 is also a no no :)
  2. I think I'll give the Gummy Bears a miss. Wonder why they call them "Gummy" Bears
  3. Yes I was thinking that myself...Shame when an OP can't comment on her own post & go slightly off topic...if that's what it is I must remember that in future...when I start a thread on Coriander for eg I must make a note to myself not to start talking about parsley or mint in case it offends someone
  4. I have these for my dogs Self Warming Heat Mats. I bought mine from Clean Run, so can't guarantee these are the same, though they look like it. There is no electricity & the pets own heat is trapped & heats the mat. My dogs love them & my Mum has one for her cat.
  5. My goodness....it looks like a giant blanket is descending....lovely :)
  6. It's not just peanut butter that we need to check for xylitol...it is ANY processed human food that we might give our dogs
  7. For those who give peanut butter to their dogs apart from the fact that too much can spark pancreatitis .... some products contain the artificial sweetener Xylitol which can be deadly for dogs even in small quantities.....so it pays to check the ingredients Is Peanut Butter Harmful
  8. One I took recently in Tasmania. It was near Fentonbury (Mt Field area)
  9. Yes ...Katrina & Kelly were running the online puppy school. I think they still have the puppy one, but this looks like it might be the next step from the puppy school. I have been to workshops with Kelly & her lovely Wonderdogs & she is a great instructor
  10. Just a little one this week as we have been trialing for the last three days & only a couple of us are going to be turning up for training tonight. Biggest challenge will be distance handling the whole speed circle from just the square in the middle, disregarding numbers...just a full circle starting wherever you wish :)
  11. I don't use la la etc, I just keep it simple & have trained my dog to go to the back of the jump with a simple verbal "push". What I did was a push behind on RHS at 10, followed by a blind cross on the landing side close to the left upright, picking my dog up with my left as she landed, then put her over 11 on my left rotating my shoulders (& calling) to go over 12, then send into lower end of tunnel, while I got into position behind 14 & out from the wing near the 12, picking my dog up with my right hand & flicking it over 14 with my right hand then putting it into the weaves with my left. This last bit is called a "forced front cross". The first bit is a German Turn, except that normally a GT would bring the dog around the wing after the Blind cross. In this case I extended after the blind & put her over the jump, with my shoulders continuing to rotate, so she would go over 12. I did have to call though, as a lot of dogs were not taking 12, but running straight to the tunnel. With the exclusion bit, its not any easy one, but I never make things easy for my class  I did a similiar one on the weekend but where the tunnel is, there were the weave poles instead. It wasn't an exclusion zone, but I was running my fast dog & there was no way I could have kept up with him running around the arc, so I took a chance & layered him with the weaves between us & we did it I just kept my arm up & telling him to get out till I wanted him to turn back to me.
  12. When the number is in the middle of the tunnel, it means you can decide to take it from either end. The trap a lot fell into, was when & if they got 10 & 11 right, the dogs headed straight for the end of the tunnel, without taking 12.
  13. If it's a boy, you could get one of these Pee Post & embed it in a post of sand.
  14. I havn't done one for a while, but have just made up the one that my class will be doing tomorrow night....lucky guys :D Part of it, 9 through to 13 (AF to Tunnel) is from an Open Agility course that we ran at a trial on the weekend. Out of 70 dogs entered, only three finished clear & one of them was me with Bindi..2nd place with 18 seconds to spare. No-one was more surprised than me  We attempted a German turn on 10, 11 & 12 & it paid off. For those who are wondering what a GT is, it is basically a push to the back followed by a blind cross on the landing side at the far wing..in this case bringing the dog over 11. Jumps 10 & 11 were quite close together.
  15. Please reconsider your purchase if you can't handle these twelve BC traits :) 12 reasons why you should never buy a border collie
  16. Aww....look at the face on that dog..it says it all. I am sure that the dogs suffering from PTSD must be getting mutual benefit by the interaction with the patients :)
  17. OMG...how cute...go & get him, he looks like he would love cuddles :)
  18. I know this is not new, but it's nice to have a good news story every now & then. I live with a PTSD sufferer (Ex Veteran)& have seen first hand the benefits of getting involved with a dog & it's training :) Post-traumatic stress disorder: Dogs provide new hope for patients overwhelmed by medical treatment
  19. Stupid...not only putting the dogs in danger if the air bags go off....but highly distractive
  20. I thought it was NO...the same as a small child & it has to do with what happens if the airbags are activated. I am not real sure about the legalities of a dog though, just common sense, really.
  21. A great day out - well done Do you have your masters titles?? We have Masters Agility & Open Agility three times, plus Open Jumping, but still need three more for our Jumping Masters...we just seem to miss out by a fraction of a second or two most times...she rarely knocks bars or misses contacts
  22. Finally I get to post in the Brags Topic :D At an Agility Trial this weekend, there were over 70 dogs entered in the Open Agility & out of the 70, only 3 dogs got clear rounds. One of them was my usually "as slow as a wet weekend, Bindi". We ran 18 seconds under time, clear, & second place. The dog that came first was a Pap. I am so proud of her beating all the other dogs including, all the Kerodens, that were there in force. She also Q'd in Masters Agility, just knocked one bar in Masters Jumping & missed a bar in Open Jumping.
  23. Well I have just turned 64 & have been thinking that if I get another BC in about 4 years time & train it up, then that will probably see me out as far as agility goes.....but seeing that old lady still competing at 92, has made me re-think
