I am always talking to my dogs just as if they are part of the family (which they are). I can't see the problem with that. I prefer to call my boy (am I allowed to call him that?) my sole mate. In his mind he probably calls me his "dog mum" I refer to both of them as "kids"...can't see the problem

I have been feeding my guys Supercoat True Origin as well as their usual bit of raw & they have never looked better. For a supermarket food it is not cheap. It comes in Chicken/Duck & also Salmon/Ocean Fish. $39 for 7 kilo but I nearly always buy it when it is on special & stock up. I like that the bags are smaller & therefore fresher.

Ask them what state body of the ANKC are they registered with & what is theeir breeders registration number & then check it out with the relevent Sate, ie in this state it would be Dogs NSW. I am always a bit scepticle of puppies being advertised on places like Gumtree ETA...I just checked out Dogzonline & there is only one breeder listed & they are in Perth

Calandula Tea is supposed to be good for soothing, but you would need to get to the root cause of the allergy

Questions on doing Agility or Trialling?
sheena replied to Psycho-Magnet's topic in General Dog Discussion
Any dog can be entered but if they are not on the MR or LR then they are put on the Associate Register. The level of fitness from the human is not essential because you train with the dog in front of you. My current dog is a super fast, blink & you will miss him, border collie. I am over 70, overweight, gone in the knees & back & can no longer run. So I train him accordingly, ie. train him to distance handle & as long as he is having fun out there on the course, that is all that matters to me, because he loves it. My first BC got most of her Masters titles & Open titles several times over. My second BC was impacted by Covid Lockdowns just in the prime of his agility career, so now he is 11 even though he still loves being involved, I have to retire him from competition. Jaxon is my third agility border collie & all I am aiming at is to be able to stand in the middle of a Novice Course & successfully direct him around the whole course. The oldest person in our area still doing agility is 86, runs two Masters level dogs & has just got a new pup. So go for it !! -

The breeder kept one -
Please don't get a working breed dog. And as others have said this is a site for Pure Breeds, so we can't comment on those, except to say, that I find myself cringe when I hear of someone deliberately crossing my beloved breed (border collie) with something else. With cross breeds you are not guaranteed to get what you think you are getting as you might get a pup that reverts back to one breed or the other, not just in looks, but temperament & health as well. In your situation I would go for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. ALL dogs will bark if bored or not trained properly

It doesn't look like a tick, but it could be a grass seed worked it's way into his leg. As others have said, best to see a vet

Please for the sake of the breed....don't get a border collie

We live rural as well ...200 acres with cattle & wildlife. We have a fence around our house/dog yard to stop our dogs from straying. You cannot just move to a rural area & let your dogs free range

Has anything changed? ... like his brand or type of kibble?

Is my dogs stool normal? (Picture included)
sheena replied to khoury_karina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Is she getting anything else besides the Optimum wet food? Bones? Kibble, treats?? That to me looks like blood in the stool & could mean she has a stomach ulcer. -
That was just an example. If you search amazon you will find them much cheaper & with free postage

Amazon have some, this is just one of a few https://www.amazon.com.au/IRIS-Quart-Airtight-Food-Container/dp/B07Q25113J

Or possibly a puppy farmer. If she doesn't come with ANKC Registered Pedigree papers you cannot be 100% sure of what she is, or who her father was, or what size she is likely to grown, temperament etc. You cannot be sure of what health testing her "breeder" did on the parents, if any. She is probably (I am only guessing) that she is costing you more than buying a registered puppy from a registered breeder & you are not a 100% guaranteed of what you are buying even tho she is very cute
-
To be 100% sure it is indeed what you are buying, the breeder would be registered with the Qld ANKC (assuming they are in Queensland) & it will come with ANKC (Dogs Qld) papers, either Mains Registered or Limited Registration Papers. This is the only way you can be 100% sure.

Has anyone tried this. Seems it is only available at Woolworths & is not cheap. I thought I would give it a try https://openpaddockpet.com.au/products/higher-welfare-chicken-kibble-for-dogs?variant=40514932048063

Unless the breeder doesn't live around Perth
-
Just because you are on acreage doesn't automatically give you the right to let your dogs roam where they will. Sorry. We are on acreage too (200) & we don't let our dogs roam. They have their own fenced yard with a hot wire from the electric fence running around the top & if we ever had problems with them digging out (which we don't) then we would run another hot wire around the bottom about 15cm from the ground. They will only touch it once.

ReHoming wanted request
sheena replied to Megan MOrton's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Hi Megan, welcome to Dogzonline. Sometimes breeders have adult dogs that they require rehoming. I assume you have taken into account the need for good fences to keep your new dog contained? It would surprise you, just how many people who move to the bush think that they don't need a yard to keep their dog in. They think it is OK to just let the dog free roam, which is not OK -
My dog is drinking way too much...Help needed

Sounds similar to my girl when her kidneys were on the way out. Have they checked her kidneys?
