  1. My daughter & son-in-law sell it, so we do a deal...I keep them well supplied with fresh eggs & they keep me supplied with Black Hawk, so I just take whatever they have an excess of. Usually the Lamb or the Chicken, but I top their meal with with different things like fish, eggs, yogurt..to give them a bit of variety. ETA...they get a RMB or a bully stick, or chewy roo in the mornings, plus training treats..So they get plenty of different taste experiences :)
  2. How often do you play with her feet...pick them up...examine them etc while making a rewarding game out of it, to get her used to having her feet touched. Then introduce her to the nail clipper, making it a fun thing...maybe just one little snip at a time immediately followed by a treat. Good if you can have someone there to treat every time you snip. Is there any reason why you can't do her nails yourself.??
  3. I can't watch it as my download would be all used up to watch a video that long....what's happening
  4. Are they any good for border collies...I usually use a rake I clearly remember using that rake on our corgi growing up, and had and used one throughout my early years as a groomer. You would be better served with a rake with longer teeth for a BC. Would be great on a short coat BC but for the traditional coat type, longer teeth will be better. Yes the one I have has longer teeth about 1 inch long. It is an old favourite I have had for years.
  5. Not to mention the flys & crows it would attract

  7. I have just bought a worm farm & in the instruction book it says "Be careful of what you feed your worms particularly if you are unaware of the source. Manure from horses, cattle or dogs often carry vermicides intended to kill parasitic worms in the animal. These vermicides can kill all your worms in one day " I know we have to be careful when we worm the cattle as it will also kill the dung beetles.
  8. Thanks to the enabling on this thread, I have just signed up for Fenzi's online course on Precision Heeling (Bronze). The problem I have with my girl, is because I have taught her dance moves, everytime I have her in heel position & go to move my leg backwards to either heel backwards or pivot, she immediately thinks that I want her to do reverse circles around my legs Anyone else had this problem....it is very cute & SHE thinks she is being very wonderful & it is hard not to smile at her  She will never make it with obedience either, because apart from this, when she drops, she immediately crosses her front paws. I guess if I want to do heeling with her at Rally - O level then I will just have to take her back to tiny steps till I can put a different cue on it.
  9. Indonesia cracks down on dog meat over rabies fears Indonesia's dog-eating community is feeling under siege. An order by Jakarta's governor to investigate dog meat sales in a view to begin to regulate the trade has inspectors trawling through restaurants across the capital. There is no regulation on dog meat consumption in Indonesia and it is a popular cuisine among some communities around the country, particularly in Jakarta. But Jakarta's governor, Ahok, has ordered an investigation amid concern the movement of dogs across internal borders could see the spread of disease such as rabies.
  10. Just doing a bit of enabling...but Loyalty Pet Treats have some special offers on this week Special Offers on some fish products, beef puff, lamb & more. :)
  11. she doesn't need to be in perfect heel position, just on a loose lead :)
  12. Anybody know of places I can buy Trophies specifically for dog agility
  13. Susan Garret advocates the use of head halters
  14. Thahkyou...that is very kind...we enjoy it :)
  15. Willem....I have just added the Look At That Game notes to my web page....I have been meaning to do it for ages  Anyway here is the link....Look At That Game On that same site you will also find notes on Clicker Training :)
  16. I know exactly where you are coming from & playing LAT (Look At That Game) with her is your best friend. It is a counter conditioning game & if you PM me with your email address, I can send you some notes I made on LAT for my agility class's. Do you do any clicker training with her ?? I ask this, because LAT & the clicker go hand in hand. My older girl, just loves other dogs & she used to behave like a tassie devil at trials & training, before I got her into LAT. Also, I don't allow her to run with other dogs at all, unless they are ones she is very familiar with. My boy has never been a problem, but I will pull out the clicker & play LAT with him for a minute or so, if he is in a stressful or fearful situation. We have a three second rule or meet & greets :)
  17. I trained both my border collies to walk on a loose lead using a FA SenSible Harness. It gave me the opportunity to reward more often for good behaviour & when caught out without the halter, I would simply loop the lead loosely around their chest & work it a bit like a handle on a guide dog. I always take the collars off my dogs to let them run, for fear of them catching it & choking. It is a bit harder for a dog to hang itself if it is wearing a harness...but as I said, I use the Ruffwear ones & attach it at the front for my girl when we are walking in the bush. I have found collars no good for my boy, as he will slip out of them in a flash...even limited slip & I don't like the choker type. I wouldn't let my dogs run in the traditional FA harness's, but I can't see the problem with the Ruffwear ones....better than a collar IMO :)
  18. I got a bit confused with the first question ...do you prefer the company of your dogs to anyone else. I had to answer NO as I really do like the company of my partner, & together with the dogs we make a great companiable team. :)
  19. Somehow I feel a bit sorry for your dogs, if they never get treats There is no way I would go to work if I only got praise & a pat from my boss for a job well done !! I don't dispense treats at home either or on walks. Mine only get treats during formal training. They do get a cookie every night though :) BB is saying that her dogs never get treats, even in training. I always carry yummy treats on me when I go for a walk. I don't "dispense" them for nothing, but I always like to reward a great recall or for checking in without having to be recalled. They are not handed out as a bribe or a lure, but as a reward for something well done.

  21. If we are eating & the dogs approach us we just say "go away I am eating" & the dogs go away, lie down & watch...but we never pay them any attention while we are eating & they accept that. I can't stand going to places & the dogs hang around the table. If I am doing tricks with them & giving treats, then when the session is over, I just say "that'le do" & show them my empty hands. It's always good to let the dog know when a training/play session has finished & they are free to go & do whatever they like. :)
  22. I use these on my dogs whenever we are in an excitable situation...I can't see how they impact on the dogs movement. I attach the lead to the front if there is any chance of the dog getting overexcited & pulling me over like when walking through the bush. For normal walks I just attach to the back. My girl even trains for agility in hers & if it were impacting on her movement, then she would be knocking bars, which she is not.
  23. I would imagine that because they are given to the dog orally, then there is no way the cats could get in contact with them, unless they helped themselves to the tablets. Advantix & Permoxin are no no's.
