Someone I know went into our local Bunnings & was told she would have to carry her dog & couldn't put it on the floor or in a trolly...small breed dog luckily. I would have a hard time carrying one of mine

I would just like to add to that...put him on a "long line"..so he can't self reward

It is very sad when they lose their enthusiasm for something that WE love doing She didn't even enjoy training night last week & she usually loves that....could have been because there was thunder around though. We are going to try swapping dogs & see if that might perk her up a little...new handler..new dog...maybe :) I know, its hard because I still love agility but I can tell she doesn't. Mindy is the opposite- she is usually slow at training but perks up for a trial. But lately she's been a bit flat at trials as well. Hopefully the summer break will be good for her. We will give retrieving a go because she shows more enthusiasm for that. Does bindi like herding? Does she ever  If I let the chooks out she will watch them all day & we no longer let her near the cows. Poor Cricket gets herded all the time...& I think that is part of the problem...she would rather herd him than play on her own, that is why she does so well in Strategic Pairs, if I can keep her under control. Unfortunately the nearest sheep herding to me is about 5 hours away.

Does Anyone Know What This Meant Look Like?
sheena replied to WildatHeart's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nor me..you might have to upload it to Youtube first -
Just saw this & thought it was a good idea & easy to make out of poly pipe. I think I would modify it somehow so the top dog didn't roll out of bed though. Any one got a double bunk for their dogs. ??

Bojak Bindi Dreaming ADM ADO4 JDX JDO SD GDX SPDX She is now 8 years old & as hard as we try, she just doesn't quite make the time for Masters Jumping and she seems to have lost what drive she had, especially in hot weather, so I am seriously thinking about retiring her & maybe just running her in Open Agilty & Masters Pairs. A bit sad really. I might get her into Rally O instead. Dunwurkn Howz That AD JDX GD SPD Certainly no lack of drive with this one, so will put all my efforts into him...I would like to achieve in 2016 JDM. ADX GDX SPDX SD ADO JDO I am going to the 4th border Collie Nationals next June, with both dogs...so that should be fun :)

I've had similar balls from Clean Run & they were great, but unfortunately once the battery ran out I couldn't find a way to replace it. You would have to make sure this one was indestructable so that the dog couldn't get to the battery inside, if he pulled it to bits. Probably best to be used under supervision.

Mischief written all over his face  Just remember that he doesn't have to mix/play with all other dogs to be well socialised & letting him run nilly willy with strange dogs could come back to haunt you later on with his training when he decides that other dogs are far more exciting than you. A well socialised dog in my mind is one that tolerates all other dogs without reaction. Read the link to Willem's thread. If he gets a bad experience with another dog when he is young he may carry that fear throughout his life. Have you had a read of this pinned topic Puppy Development Calendar ?? Oh...& I have a 3 second rule when meeting new dogs on lead....3 seconds & then we separate. It only takes three seconds to meet, sniff & then they want to play/react or whatever. Dogs on lead are far more likely to be reactive than loose dogs because they feel vulnerable/restricted. A dog straining on a lead presents a far more bigger picture than one that is loose. ETA...if you never buy another book in your entire life...this book is a must The Focused Puppy by Deborah Jones

Not sure why the trainer would not like you to crate train him ?? A crate trained puppy has many benefits..it speeds up toilet training..it gives you somewhere for the pup to chill out when you get visitors..it gives him a lovely secure place to sleep (it becomes his den)..you can use it when travelling/camping (he sleeps in it)..if you are going to do any dog sports with him he will need to be crated etc etc. Lots of other benefits too...too many to list. But we have just had a terrific noisy thunderstorm...my guys who are storm phobic, go into their crates, snuggle up & go to sleep. If ever he needs to sleep over at the vets, it is handy. Have a read of my page on Clicker Training. First thing with puppy is that he gets NOTHING unless he has all four feet on the ground...no food...no pats...no attention. But as soon as his bum hits the floor, then deliver him a treat or his food bowl. Gradually work on duration. Make sure his treats are healthy ones & you don't have to spend a lot of money buying commercial treats..you can use his kibble if he likes his food. Just remember that a BC puppy at that age has the attention span of a grasshopper...so make his formal training sessions really short. Always have something in your pocket when you are with him, so you never miss an opportunity to reward good behaviour. If you have him in a puppy pen, don't lift him out over the top..open the door to take him out, otherwise he will quickly learn that the way out is over the top. Oh....& one more thing...we need photos :)

Hmmmm....where to start  What training have you done already?? Did the pup's breeder give you any idea of just what you might be in for being a first time puppy owner & getting a BC?? I am a bit surprised the breeder didn't pick out a calmer pup for you, seeing you had no BC experience. Have you heard of Crate Training ?? Have a look here, there may be a few bits that could help you My link

I know of a pig hunter who uses similar things on his pig dogs. Got expensive when one of his dogs lost its collar & he almost lost his dog as well

Then the dog could "phone home"

Interesting...I wonder if it just another of those "scare" campaigns about eating anything "meat" ...seems to be a lot of them these days. -

Toilet Problems - 1 Year Old Cocker Spaniel

So how many times a day does he poo ??? If it were just pees, then a belly band works really well. If he is doing more than two, or three poos at the most, in 24 hours, then maybe it is his food doesn't agree with him. Just out of curiosity, what do you feed him?? -
Hmmm...well yes...I guess. Pizzles are just that ....pizzles (boy bits) I will admit to wincing when I see Ernie enjoying them. Mmmm...me too, especially when we have these boys in our paddocks The dogs don't care though...they love them & why waste it ??
-
I know that their pizzles are imported & have heard that they stink a little. Other things from time to time are imported but most people don’t read further down the page. They have this written under so many of their products “Special note: Here at the Australian Pet Treat Company we make every effort to source this product from Australia. Unfortunately this is not always possible due to supply, so at times it may be sourced internationally.” At least when I buy from LPT I am assured that they are locally sourced (except for the NZ Mussels) & are fresh, as often I have to wait for them to fill a big order for me.

Some people use these, but not sure where you would attach it to a scooter Dog/Bike Trainer
