  1. My 4yo 18 kilo BC girl gets 1/2 a turkey neck for breakfast every day, & at night she gets 1 metric cup Black Hawk with either, 1/2 can sardines, or an egg, or a couple of tablespoons of mince or diced beef. The 6 month old BC 18.5 kilo BC Puppy gets the same, but an extra 1/2 cup Black Hawk. They are very, very active dogs. The raw component including turkey necks would'nt cost me more than about $10 per week. They also get training treats which I cook up myself.
  2. We are in powered sites 134 & 135 but are probably staying O/N Thursday at Armidale on the way down. Too long a trip for the dogs & driver, so will get there early Friday morning.
  3. Thanks Casima...I will do that right now. She only has one more to get to get her title so it would be a shame to waste the others. It's the only ADAA event we go to & I would like to be able to enter her in the games & team events next year. We did go to the Nationals this year, but it was a bit beyond us. The only thing I don't like about the Grand Prix or the National, is some events you seem to be walking the course with a hundred other people, then it may be 2 hours before you get to run it & in the meantime, you have run other courses. It is a bit much for my senior's brain, I'm afraid
  4. I have made myself notes & hope to catch up with as many as possible. I think I know Tony & will keep an eye out for the others. If I can, I am going to write DOL on my ID card. I guess it will mainly be those running in the same events as me & Bindi. She still has to get one more pass for her title so we are still in Reg/starters & the 24 weave pole challenge. Does anybody know, if she gets her title on Saturday, can she move up for the rest of the weekend, or is it too much hassle for the organisers.
  5. Thanks Smisch, but we wont have camping stuff with us but maybe we can get a cabin at a local park or something. We might just have to drive back to Noosa for the night. Think we might do it just for fun & Cricket will be able to catch up with his breeder, Allison. Entries don't have to be in till 5th Nov, so we have plenty of time to think about it.
  6. I looked up the trial schedule at Dogs Qld, but it didn't say exactly what events are on. How do I know what to enter It's a bit different to the way Dogs NSW set out their schedules. An hours drive is maybe a bit far, but we might be able to get accomodation up at Gympie for the night. (hate driving in the dark)
  7. Oodles could never become a recognized breed, cause if you breed a labradoodle with a labradoodle you are not necessarily going to get a labradoodle. A good friend of mine, against my advice, just bought an oodle, cause it was so cute, & she was assured by the place she bought it that they do not buy from puppy farms. They only buy from reputable breeders
  8. There is really only two.....Redlands/Birkdale on 5th Nov & Gympie on 19th Nov. Which one would be closest to Noosa??
  9. Thankyou Delta Charlie & Tailwag.... I am writing this all down So smisch, who is your dog...is it Denver??? I have the list in front of me & can't find a Den.
  10. Looked up the entry list & there is someone running a Delta & a Charlie. Is that you & if so, which one is Delta Charlie ????
  11. We are planning a trip up to Noosa sometime between end of October & early Dec to visit friends & would like to tie it in with a dog trial up that way. I have looked up the schedules, but the names of clubs & areas mean nothing to me.....Queensland is a BIG place. Any suggestions from you Queenslanders :D
  12. I have just purchased a Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 DG Macro. Any tips on how to get the best out of it
  13. It can be quick in some circumstances. I had Erik flipping out over children doing strange things a few months ago. Once I got my head around exactly how to use LAT, it only took a few weeks before he first offered a LAT when he saw some kids hitting the ground with a stick. No barking, no lunging, just looked calmly and looked back to me. When you've read it, go join the CU_Dogs Yahoo list. Leslie McDevitt answers questions along with some other very experienced trainers that have been using CU. It has really added depth to my understanding of the whole program. I want to buy the foundation dvds, now. Thanks for that Corvus...I will certainly join. What are the foundation DVD's you mentioned. I have the Foundation Fundamentals by Mary Ellen Barry. I have been mainly doing my LAT training while at trials as I get jeered at by some people at training as they don't understand & don't want to learn what I am doing. Fortunately my instructor understands & she is doing it with her JRT. At the last trial, I was hard pressed to get her to take her eyes off me...so I think I am having good success with her It will be interesting to see how she goes next week with the Grand Prix...at the Nationals I had trouble keeping her in her own ring
  14. I would really try the LAT...not a quick fix, but I have my dog on it ATM because she is reactive to motion (she's a border collie) & SWF's & I am over the top with joy the way she has improved. It also teaches your dog how to relax & take deep breaths. I have just bought Leslie's book & DVD "Control Unleashed" and am waiting impatiently for it to arrive Can't wait to see what else she has to offer with helping my girl.
  15. I would be making sure he is not getting food from elsewhere & trying to stop him eating chicken poo, which, I think, is quite high in protein. He may have got his tummy upset from the chicken poo in the form of coccidiodosis, which is common to chooks & appears as blood in the poos of other animals. A shame he is not a swimmer as this is a great non load bearing exercise. Who ever is sneaking treats to your dog is killing him. Not sure if they make muzzels small enough, but if they did that might be a help to stop him eating outside of mealtimes.

    Afraid Of Men

We have one man (brother in law) who loves dogs, but he gets them really riled up & while my older BC will jump all over him, because, to a dog, he is excitement plus, Cricket stands his distance & barks at him (about the only time I ever hear him bark) & I am sure it is to do with some sort of vibrations given off by Chris. Maybe your Uncle gives off some sort of vibes when he arrives & dogs are very sensitive to vibes...something we just cannot even start to understand.
  17. If your dog is clicker trained, I think a bit of Lesley McDevitt's LAT (Look At That) would be useful. It's not an overnight fix but it is a good one for reactive dogs. A bit long & lengthy to explain here, but a lot has been talked about it on the training thread. Or if you google it, you may find out more. Do you currently play any clicker games with your dog??

    Afraid Of Men

He might be going through his second fear period. My nearly 7 month old BC pup is going through this at the moment. Fortunately not a lot scares him, but certain people do especially if they are sitting in the shade/hats/ sunglasses etc & he can't really recognize them as "people" in his mind.
  19. It sounds like the OP is hell bent on using the Advance, no matter what others say about it I would like to ask the OP, why she/he has chosen Advance , just out of interest Does it matter?? Or does it just cheese you off that they haven't jumped on the BH bandwagon. Not sure that Sheena said "bloody idiots not buying BH"???? Or maybe I read it wrong???????? Maybe you did ;) I was simply asking the OP why she chose Advance...is there something wrong with that?? There were a lot of brands suggested by lots of posters & I was curious as to how she came to her decision, to feed Advance when everyone was saying "don't feed Advance"..doesn't matter now as she chose Nutro, which makes more sense.
  20. Who else is going to the Grand Prix at Tamworth next weekend. My dog number is RC730...if that means anything. Maybe we could write DOL on our cards, so we can all say hi
  21. When I get back from the Grand Prix, I might have a look at what else I might have
  22. At least your petstore doesn't sell pets except for fish. Last time I was in "that" pet store, there was a poor cattle dog cross in a glass cage continuously chasing it's own tail. I only went in there to get some weed for my fish...I ended up in your store ;)
  23. I can't believe how quick you lot all were. The only ones left are Tug More & the book, How Many Dogs. Thanks everyone, now I can get on the net & buy some new ones. Hubby said I couldn't buy any more till I got rid of what I have. I kept a couple of Greg Derrett ones...not sure if I can part with them just yet .
  24. I have decided that I need to be strong & part with some of my Training DVD's, so that I can go buy some new ones ;) If anybody is interested they are listed Here
