You can always find something else.....I'm up to $88 already & still shopping
-
Just clicked on Clean Run & they are offering Free Shipping on all orders over $100 till 16th Dec
-
It was discontinued because of a problem in supply of the key ingredient. We were at Camp Tailwaggers a few days ago & noticed they are still advertising it for sale through them.
-
I've had Cricket on it since I got him (BC) on the advice of people who know better than me. I don't think I would feed a puppy the Lite variety though.
-
Sherel has a new website http://www.blackhawkpetcare.com/ Here you will find a list of distributors...there are heaps in Victoria.
-
I have PM'd you

A soft crate wont last long with a young dog. Get a wire one & buy a canvas cover to fit....they are so handy I got my cover off Ebay. Get the cover with screened windows in it.

In the "mute" run we did at ADAA Nationals the only sound you could make was the release word, but after the dog crossed the first jump the handler had to be completely silent, no calling, no clapping, no coughing ...it was an eye opener. It got me thinking that if you could trial in silence, then when you did make a call the dog would be more responsive.
-
I thought she might. I have always found Julana very helpful
-
I naturally don't talk while clicker training, but I meant agility training...like running the courses. It's very hard not to make a call off etc.
-
At the ADAA Nationals we ran an event where we had to run the dog, but remain silent. I was amazed how well the dog's responded, including my own. OH is always telling me I am too vocal, so for the last week, I have been training every day in silence....with the older dog that is, not the puppy who is still learning. It's working well....she seems to be keeping more of an eye on my body language & I am concentrating more on giving the right signals. It is very hard though...not to do any calls Anybody else thought about training in silence??

Manners Minder - Best Place To Buy?
sheena replied to pie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks for clearing that up for me Piper. I can see how the MM would be handy for mat work etc. The only problem I have with the treat dispenser (which I have ordered) is that I will still need to have a 2nd person there to keep loading the treats. I guess I just put them in a drop stay, while I reload. -
Manners Minder - Best Place To Buy?

Yeah...but hers is $150 compared to $99. I have sometimes found with Cleanrun, if you email them re postage, they will often come back with a more realistic shipping rate. I have just ordered the treat dispenser....problem with it is that you have to load each treat. But the MM is way to big for my liking...something like 13 inches wide in their description. -
Not everybody want 20 kilos so we downbag in 1,2,3,5, & 10 kilo bags & probably most others will do the same for you. If you can't find anyone in Brisbane, we are on the NSW North Coast & can send it to you via courier. But try the Brisbane ones first especially Julana out at Ipswich, she is most helpful & she can get it to Brisbane, I am sure. Thanks for this, that's who I sent my email to last night, so I'll sit back and wait Fabulous news it comes in all those sizes, I can't wait to try it on my fussy eater :D It doesn't automatically come in all those sizes...you have to get someone who is happy to down bag it for you.

Sis has come up with some good ideas on how she is going to make the "snake trainer"...but don't hold your breath, she can be a bit slow. In the meantime she sent me this....maybe we should get ourselves a mongoose or two

Just A Heads Up. They're Back! It's Snake Season Again

Thought I might fill my yard with mongooses -
No problems here with my border collies with the size of the kibble. The puppy used to woof it down when we first got him, but now he savours every mouthful. We have repeat customers with very large breeds of dogs & obviously they have no problem or they wouldn't keep buying it
-
Hi Tic. We are starting off with a few listed on our website listed here, mainly so people can have the shampoo etc sent at the same time as their bag of food so it wont cost them anything for postage. Maybe some of the others can do the same. I can't wait to try them on my own dogs. They sound good enough to use on my own hair

An excellent book to get, if you have or are about to get a puppy is The Focused Puppy, from Clean Run The Focused Puppy It has been on Free Postage for over a year now, but unfortunately not any more, but it is still an excellent book & a "must have"
-
Everyone has their own ways of training their pups, but personally, I have found the best way is by "shaping". That way the dog learns to work it out for itself..."if I do whatever, I get whatever"...no force needed whatsoever. Some people call it the "Premack Principle". But I think I would be starting our with a physical barrier. I would never use any physical force when training a puppy...I would be keeping that for emergencies.
-
Sorry, but how does a 12 weeks old pup understand what "bad pup" means And I think the time frame would be more like 1 second not one minute. Why not put up a barrier so it can't get into the kitchen & then "train" it not to got there. It's not going to happen overnight...training a behaviour like that takes time & in the meantime keep it out of that area.
-
At her age, you are probably expecting too much & it is her way of saying she doesn't understand. Here is an interesting Youtube on teaching your dog invisible barriers, could be handy

Another cost to the distributors, maybe not in Victoria, because they have Sherel, is the 100's of kilos of free samples we hand out & donate as prizes to dog clubs & free puppy packs we provide. Everytime we post a sample it cost us at least $7.00 + a 14 klm trip to the post office. Plus we subsidise the delivery costs to try & keep it affordable & accessible for those people who don't have the benefit of living in the main cities. When you add all of the above onto the freight cost from Melbourne to Northern NSW, to still be able to sell a bag for $85, it doesn't leave much for the piggy bank. But at least we are getting it out there to people in the country & we havn't had anyone complain about the product or the service yet & their dogs love us for it. ;)

Corrections For Dogs - When Does It Become Abuse?
sheena replied to jacqui835's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would certainly like to know.....who???? If you could PM me. When I took my now 4 yo girl to Puppy preschool 4 yrs ago, the instructor there was a "little" on the "rough side" & I often blame that experience on some of the problems I have with my girl. With the new puppy, there was no way I was going to take him to Puppy School.
