  1. 600mm might be the one! I would like to see a dog jump 6 metres tho :p Yeah...I keep getting my cm & mm mixed up...must be a seniors thing I still think in inches. Jules...I will be working up to sprinting. I do a bit of that each day while training the dogs, but eventually my walk becomes.....walk up the hill (1.5klm,) then jog down. Last time I took Bindi on my walk, she suddenly kept turning & looking over her shoulder & was in a hurry to get home. When I took Cricket Puppy, he got to the same spot then wouldn't go any further...so that spooked me out a bit & I now go on my own. Some wild critters (humans) around here. Havn't seen them myself, but evidentually there are a couple of pitbulls running loose ATM & the owner has told us if we see them to shoot them on sight Had the first of the Canine Club Christmas parties last night
  2. It means that for ANKC Agility he will be jumping 600cm height. I havn't seen many (if any) registered Border Collies jumping in the 600 at the trials I go to....most are in the 500. Maybe a couple of Associate Register ones with unknown parentage. So he has a long stride & I am either going to have to get faster or smarter to avoid frustrating him. Lucky you, my OH is like you, can eat what he likes...makes it hard on me cause there is always plenty of food in the house Thanks for the link, Weasels. I never go into "off topic" so I missed that one. Will have to sit down with a cuppa (no cake) & read it through. Where I go walking is out on a bush road, which is frequented by all sorts of creatures including dingos & wild dogs as well as cars & idiots on motor bikes. So if I take either or both of my dogs they have to be on leads & they are forever wanting to stop & sniff, which slows me down. Plus there is always the chance of coming across a dingo or wild dog, which would freak me out if I had my babies with me. They get walked twice a day off lead in a safer part of the farm...this is on top of that & it gives me time to myself & I can set my own pace.
  3. I hope Troy doesn't think this thread is off topic, but I thought I would start a thread for all those DOL's who think they could do with a little bit of trimming down, mainly so we can all live longer, but also give our best to our dogs in their chosen sports. I live a long way from gyms, personal trainers or weight loss groups, so I am looking for support from DOL's in reaching my personal fitness goal & hope that others can join in & we give support to each other ;) My BC girl is very kind to me & usually runs at my pace, but I would like to get quicker & not be so puffed & red in the face when I finish a run. Cricket Puppy (9 mo BC) on the other hand is definately going to be a 600 dog & superfast & for me to give him the best chance I need to get fitter,& faster (& better at distance handling ) I am 60 yo, retired & by my reckoning, 10 kilos overweight. I have started daily walking again for 45 minutes...up hill & back, without dogs, as the dogs slow me down & of course, I am going to try to eat only healthy & spend a little less time on the computer. I know I can do it, as I set the same challenge 8 years ago when I wanted to climb a certain mountain that kept beckoning me everytime I went on holidays. I also had to overcome a terrible fear of height...but I did it So I am going to bump this thread up every Saturday, & report in. So wish me luck, everybody ;)
  4. Both dogs are fed twice a day. In the mornings before breakfast, we take them for a walk & do some agility training, then they run straight back up to the house & wait eagerly for their turkey neck. At night they get their kibble about 1/2 hour before bed, then they get another 1/2 dozen bits of kibble when they get into their beds. They are real stickers for routine
  5. My goals for the start of 2012 is not for titles or Q's, but to spend a bit more time at Excellence Level Agility & use that time to improve my handling skills & experiment a little before we get up into Masters. It sure beats taking the pressure of that last Q needed. Our challenge for 2012 is to teach Cricket Puppy to ride a skateboard & to teach Miss Bindi to ride a surfboard
  6. I have the Satin Soft one in front of me & it says it is 96% natural with Coix seed extract, Witch hazel, Allantoin, Vitamin B6 & Epilobium leischeri extract (what ever that is?)It then goes on to list the ingredients...too many for me to put here, but it does have Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in it. I will have to get the Sensitive Skin one back off my daughter & see what that has in it. If that's any help. I normally use Alloveen, but have trouble getting it to lather up & usually end up using almost a whole bottle in one wash. I don't like using SLS on me or my pets If I can help it. Thanks for that sheena I had a look on the Alloveen bottle to see what that had in it & it doesn't list all it's ingredients.....I would have thought it would be law to list all ingredients on things like shampoo.
  7. What are you feeding her??? What do her meals consist of ?????
  8. I buy the largest one possible & squeeze it into a very small container. Then get a small syringe from the chemist & measure out how much for that dog & that way you get more bang for your buck. For a 12 kilo dog, you would administer 1.2mls but I would go maybe to 1.5mls. So if you buy the 4ml size then you will get a lot more treatments from it for the same price.
  9. Piper....condsider yourself SHOT I still have 15 days left to make up another order.
  10. 11. Yeah....but they're probably not having as much fun as yours.
  12. I just got the Satin Soft & the Soothing Formula plus the leave-in-cond. I havn't tried the soothing one yet, but it reads like it is fairly much suitable for all dogs regardless.
  13. It's sold by Black Hawk but isn't made by them, Not sure but I think it might be exclusive to them. It's about $16 for 400ml & you can dilute it 1:5, so it's very economical. At that rate with two border collies, I will be still using my bottle in 12 months. Smells nice & not overpowering.
  14. I have just used the YU All Natural shampoo for the first time. I didn't do a full wash, just her legs & tail ....I was very impressed with it. I diluted it down 1:3 but I think next time I will dilute it 1:5 like Sherel advises. Only the smallest amount gives a good lather. I can also vouch for the YU Leave In Conditioner too....I used it on my own hair last night. I also rubbed a bit of it into her tail & the tangles just came straight out. Anyone else used the YU yet???
  15. Any possibility of crate training him. He could then sleep next to your bed in his crate & let you know when he wants to go outside.
  16. All of the above......plus try to present the treat to her with a flat hand. The exercise where you hold the treat in her hand till she backs off & waits is a good one, but when you open your hand, take the treat & treat her with your other hand. You can extend this to putting her in a drop...put a treat on the floor just out of her reach & when she goes to get it, cover it with your hand. When she stops trying to get it & waits, pick it up & give it to her or alternate it with releasing her to it. My dogs love this game.
  17. Yep....I've had a couple. I think you get use of them for 14 days. I don't have a really fast internet & they still worked well.
  18. I love my dogs, but they know that if we are eating or preparing food, they can sit at a distance & watch, but that's all. We just ignore them & they get the hint & go away pretty quick. Most of the time, if they want something from me, they have to do something first, usually a sit or drop. Of course pats & cuddles are free if I am not busy & I don't put sheets on their beds either.....geee...wouldn't my BC pup have fun with those. As it is I have to make sure all matresses are removed from the beds each morning, or he would have them all pulled out around the yard in the mud & disembowled.
  19. I'm going to my first Rally- O workshop at Grafton next Sunday. I have printed off the rules & given it a read....looks like fun. I am going to do it with Mr.Cricket Puppy seeing he is still too young to go to formal agility lessons. Problem is, by the time he starts beginners agility lessons, he is already going to be up to trialing stage (minus jump heights). Maybe the instructor can use him as a "demo" dog So doing Rally-O will be good for him & me, seeing we know absolutely nothing about it.
  20. Stop it!!....Stop it!!!!!!......Stop it!!! I have already put two orders in & I am B-R-O-K-E. So stop tempting me. OH has already seen a book that he reckons we should have
  21. I've been wondering what these are..This One Comes with "pedigree papers" & was bred by REGISTERED BREEDERS OF THE AUSTRALASIAN SNOW SHEPHERD SOCIETY AND THE INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER CANINE REGISTRY And is just in time for Christmas So now we have an "International Designer Canine Registry"
  22. I wonder what happens to the pig when he grows & is no longer cute & agile
  23. I used to feed Livamol but havn't done so for a while as I find their food is keeping their coats nice. The older BC started to get a bit bleached, but I stripped her coat with a Mars comb & got out all the dead stuff & she came up nice again. They both swim a lot in the pool, & lay around in the sun, so I expect a bit of bleaching. A friend of mine breeds beautiful Kelpies & she uses Livamol & her dogs are exceptional.
