Still havn't got my first order yet...it was posted on the 22nd Nov I have just put my 3rd & final order in....I took a punt & ordered the shoes (2 pairs)...got a 1/2 size bigger just to be sure.
-
My older BC doesn't like either pigs or sheep ears, but the younger boy prefers the sheeps ears. I think the pigs ears are too fatty. What he prefers above all is beef tendons...Mandy sells those as well. They are cheaper & last longer.
-
Contact Julana at .... mailto:[email protected] She sells them up there & does a regular run to Brisbane
-
These ones are from New Zealand Sheeps Ears

If he's going over the top then the best solution is to buy a small electric fence from the produce store & run a wire around the fence/enclosure about a metre up....& put it on the low setting if it has one. I wouldn't put it at the top cause you don't want him to fall back. So about a metre high so that he touches it before he starts to climb. He wont forget it in a hurry. We have one running around the top & bottom of our house yard & the dogs only try to escape once then they don't even think about it again. You may think it sounds a bit cruel, but letting him escape could be crueler for him in the long run. IMO the only solution for a dog which wants to get out (or unwanted ones who want to get in)

Help My Dog Has Forgotten Her Recall
sheena replied to lilmisssascha83's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If she used to be good at recalls & is not now, then maybe your rate of reinforcement has not been great enough. Always carry treats or favourite toy when you are out with her & have a big party when she comes to you. Also if you have been calling her to you & putting her on the lead...end of fun time....dog no longer comes. Do some calling to you, treat, then release straight away to play again. Don't put the lead on her straight away, hold her by the collar & make a real happy fuss over her, then put the lead on...then treat again...good dog. Maybe take the lead off & let her go play again...mix it up. -
The same size as the poles...1 inch, I think.
-
Yep....that's the ones...12 for $47 & get the jump cups to go with them ;)

i.e. they don't try to hold out that their dogs will be suitable as 'professional' working dogs. It really depends what you want the dog for. An owner of a Callicoma dog at our dog club said that he got a bench Kelpie because he thought that it would be calmer than a working line dog and was afraid that a working line dog would be too crazy for the suburbs. In the end, he found himself with a dog that was crazy about sheep and probably just as energetic as a working line dog. Similarly, all good WKC breeders will tell you that a well-bred working Kelpie has an offswitch and is just as happy chilling out as it is working sheep. You will find good and bad dogs in both lines and if you want an agility/obedience/flyball/recreational herding/pet dog you can get excellent dogs from both lines. You will also get chunky monkeys in both lines. You'll get more choice of colouring in the working lines, though. In the working lines, colouring is irrelevant and appearance is irrelevant except to the extent that it impedes working ability. Callicoma Kelpies are georgous & very versatile & have lovely temperaments. If ever I was to switch breeds...that's where I would go

Yeah I know, I'm just jealous No no I'm just going to have to buy more stuff I'm afraid I keep adding in the stick in the ground weave poles, then taking them out, then adding them back in, then taking them out.... Anyone here had them arrive yet and how are they? I have ordered the weave poles, but they havn't arrived yet. I also ordered some of the jump cups to fit them so I can convert them to jumps. I am still keen to try buying a new pair of agility shoes, just trying to decide what my size would be in USA. I have a pair of woman's Keens which have a label inside saying US 10 (27cm) but I am not sure if I can trust that. I have emailed CR my foot measurements & hope they can help me.
-
Yep...but hope customs sniffer dogs don't detect it. Oh, & I got some Isqueaks too Has anybody ever bought a pair of shoes of CR....I would love a pair of those Bogz...just not sure what I would do if they didn't fit
-
Just about to push the "send" button on my 3rd order....anything else I should add to it I wish my first order would hurry up. Has anybody had theirs opened by customs yet???
-
Where's mine Its not fair....I was the one who started this thread & none of mine has arrived yet Maybe they are trying to work out my commission
-
I still don't have mine.....Customs must have chosen it to search...just my luck...they wont find anything, but it just delays it & last time they searched my package, they didn't even bother to reseal it Arrived at the post office with the side ripped open...everything was just "sitting" there.

That might be so, but if that is the case, then they are also designed to then go & sleep under a tree for days until they get hungry & need to go & find another meal. Not exactly what we expect of our modern dogs. To me, my dogs are my family, & I wouldn't expect my family to miss out on a days food every so often, so why should my dogs. Maybe us humans should go back to prehistoric times as well & eat like cavemen did ;)
-
Why surprised? Our adult dogs have always been fed twice a day. I eat three times a day, so I think it only natural that my furkids get fed twice a day (plus healthy training treats) Same amount of food, just divided in two. If I ate the same amount of food in just one meal, I don't think it would do me any good.
-
Was thinking that, cheers. On the advice of breeders etc. I have raised my BC puppy on the Adult BH since I got him at 11 weeks. Took him for a check up last week @ 8 months & the vet gave him 100% thumbs up. The adult one is 25% protein.

Maybe I'm lucky then.... I placed my order on the 24/11, it was shipped 29/11 and I received it today! Now I wish I ordered more There's still time for another order ;)
-
Your in ....good luck I always think with the rogue dogs & dingos around here, they are more likely to attack if you have a dog with you...they are after the dog, not you. Most of the ones I have run into back off if I stand my ground with a stick...only once have I had to quickly climb a fence post & fortunately that one gave up when its mate ran off. So far, since Saturday, I have trimmed four minutes off my walk & cut my wine intake by half. Instead of having two glasses of wine, I have one glass of wine & one glass of water, taking alternate sips from each. Oh....and I have lost 1/2 kilo

For the people who get their BH from us, I have spoken to the couriers & been told that if you want your BH before Christmas then you should have your order in by Monday 19th at the latest. There wont be any deliveries between 24th December & 3rd January. ;)

My first packaage I ordered on the 20/11 was shipped 22/11 & still hasn't arrived yet My second package oredered on the 28/11 wasn't shipped till yesterday but maybe they might have been waiting on something. OH has suggested I need to order in a couple of dozen clickers @ 95c each, for the club, so I have put them on my list for a 3rd order & added to it...almost up to the $100 again...how did I do that & I still havn't included the book he wanted.

If you've requested it through Sherel, then give her another buzz, as sometimes her's go astray

600mm might be the one! I would like to see a dog jump 6 metres tho :p Yeah...I keep getting my cm & mm mixed up...must be a seniors thing I still think in inches. Jules...I will be working up to sprinting. I do a bit of that each day while training the dogs, but eventually my walk becomes.....walk up the hill (1.5klm,) then jog down. Last time I took Bindi on my walk, she suddenly kept turning & looking over her shoulder & was in a hurry to get home. When I took Cricket Puppy, he got to the same spot then wouldn't go any further...so that spooked me out a bit & I now go on my own. Some wild critters (humans) around here. Havn't seen them myself, but evidentually there are a couple of pitbulls running loose ATM & the owner has told us if we see them to shoot them on sight Had the first of the Canine Club Christmas parties last night

It means that for ANKC Agility he will be jumping 600cm height. I havn't seen many (if any) registered Border Collies jumping in the 600 at the trials I go to....most are in the 500. Maybe a couple of Associate Register ones with unknown parentage. So he has a long stride & I am either going to have to get faster or smarter to avoid frustrating him. Lucky you, my OH is like you, can eat what he likes...makes it hard on me cause there is always plenty of food in the house Thanks for the link, Weasels. I never go into "off topic" so I missed that one. Will have to sit down with a cuppa (no cake) & read it through. Where I go walking is out on a bush road, which is frequented by all sorts of creatures including dingos & wild dogs as well as cars & idiots on motor bikes. So if I take either or both of my dogs they have to be on leads & they are forever wanting to stop & sniff, which slows me down. Plus there is always the chance of coming across a dingo or wild dog, which would freak me out if I had my babies with me. They get walked twice a day off lead in a safer part of the farm...this is on top of that & it gives me time to myself & I can set my own pace.

I hope Troy doesn't think this thread is off topic, but I thought I would start a thread for all those DOL's who think they could do with a little bit of trimming down, mainly so we can all live longer, but also give our best to our dogs in their chosen sports. I live a long way from gyms, personal trainers or weight loss groups, so I am looking for support from DOL's in reaching my personal fitness goal & hope that others can join in & we give support to each other ;) My BC girl is very kind to me & usually runs at my pace, but I would like to get quicker & not be so puffed & red in the face when I finish a run. Cricket Puppy (9 mo BC) on the other hand is definately going to be a 600 dog & superfast & for me to give him the best chance I need to get fitter,& faster (& better at distance handling ) I am 60 yo, retired & by my reckoning, 10 kilos overweight. I have started daily walking again for 45 minutes...up hill & back, without dogs, as the dogs slow me down & of course, I am going to try to eat only healthy & spend a little less time on the computer. I know I can do it, as I set the same challenge 8 years ago when I wanted to climb a certain mountain that kept beckoning me everytime I went on holidays. I also had to overcome a terrible fear of height...but I did it So I am going to bump this thread up every Saturday, & report in. So wish me luck, everybody ;)
