  1. My dogs don't pee in the pool. I leave the pool gate open & they run out onto the lawn to pee, then run back in & back into the pool. If I close the gate, they paw at it to let me know they want to get out for a pee. Pity my human swimmers wern't so considerate ;)
  2. I am going to get the vet to check out his growth plates. I think he has stopped growing as in putting on weight. He is not overweight by any means, just tall. This "thing" he has just started is very not like him & he seems to be frightened of his own feelings. At meal times, he will hide up the back of his kennel & wait until she has started eating before he will start his dinner. But we just took them for a walk before bed (we are still out camping) & he started it again as soon as we got within sight of the caravan. Maybe it's the smell of garbage cans & possums etc. If it were you, would you wait till his growth plates have closed before getting him desexed ????
  3. Maybe you could bring her along to Agility & start her agility career
  4. There is couple at Townsville & Mckay....here is the list Retailers
  5. Have you given any thought to Black Hawk Holistic. It may not be available locally as it is generally not sold in shops, but there would be a distributor not far from you that could send it by courier. Even with freight it still is a very competitive price compared to the other premium foods.
  6. I am considering getting my quite tall BC dog desexed next month @ 14 months, which is when he is due for his vaccinations. I was hoping to leave it for another couple of months, because he is a large dog, but he is wanting to pee on everything when out walking & has become a bit Food Agressive against my other girl. We are camping with the two at the moment & they both have had a chew for the last two days & he is quite posessive of his. Even at a distance of about 50 meters when returning from a walk, back towards camp, he started to snarl & had a go at her, took me by surprise He is normally a real angel, so I'm wondering if it is his hormones. I will get an opinion from my vet re: de-sexing, being a large BC, but would like to hear what others think . I might not wait till 14 months if he keeps this up
  7. I have used one, but forget which one it was a couple of times but havn't washed the dogs now for a couple of months as they are always in the pool. They did come up nice & sometimes I rub the YU conditioner into Bindi's coat after she has been swimming. I have also used it on my own hair Just a reminder to any of my people out there reading this, that I can attach the shampoo to the bag of kibble when you order it & it then cost no more for delivery :)
  8. Yep...definately a couple of water babies live here. Most days they get to play in the pool for up to one & half hours...& yes, sometimes they ask for the umbrella to be put up so they can lay around & relax by the side of the pool.

    Buying A Pup -

The breeder I got my BC puppy from did very similar to Delta Charlie, plus she took her pups on long car rides, camping, trials & sensitised them to all sorts of environmental noises. He is a performance pup & I couldn't be happier. Nothing fazes him & he just loves to tug, play & perform. I don't think many breeders would go to the trouble that she did, but I sure appreciate that she did.
  10. Has she had lamb & chicken before?? Have you had a lot of very wet weather (floods) out your way just recently? Is she dropping coat maybe??
  11. That's right...the Puppy no longer has any wheat :) We are primary producers too & always try to support the Ozi farmers, as we know they do it tough, compared to the overseas farmers who are heavily subsidised by their governments & don't have the OH&S, enviromental restrictions & high wages etc. It it very hard to compete. One day Australia will wake up & find that the only farms that are left are the ones owned by the Chinese, Japanese, & Multinationals & they will wonder how did we ever let it happen
  12. I guess so, if I mainly want to know where the ingredients come from I don't pay much attention to Made in Australia by itself. I like it to be nice and clear on the packaging. Hopefully Sherel will read this thread & change the wording when she has the next lot of bags printed. I like it to be nice & clear on the packaging, just where the ingredients come from, & even though I know they are all Australian, I am sure she would sell much more if it were clear on the packaging. It is a BIG selling point with BH, that it is all Oz, but she would sell more if the labeling was clearer & us distributors wouldn't have to keep explaining all the time :)
  13. Hi Skruffy & Flea, This topic was raised some time back & only Sherel can really answer it. The old bag only had 100% Australian Made on it too & I raised it with Sherel. It is 100% Oz made, produce of & owned, so maybe she feels that by saying it is 100% Oz made, that it covers the product from paddock to plate. I agree with you though, that something like 100% Australian Owned & made & 100 % product of Australia would be better, or just 100% product of Australia would probably cover it all. Even the trace elements are sourced from Australia if they are available, according to Sherel in an earlier post.
  14. If you are really going to get stressed, try & get some Proban tablets & start them at least a week before you go away. They are not being made anymore, but some places may still have stocks of them. I still have a couple of bottles left & don't know what I will do when I run out. If they are on Proban, then there is very little (but still some) chance of the ticks getting to the paralysis size, especially if they are somewhere hard to find. But really, Advantix applied to a dirty dog (not straight after a bath) & no getting wet for 48 hours, plus daily searching is pretty good. I apply the Advantix or Frontline Plus in several places along their backbone, not just in one spot like the directions say & no swimming for 2 days after.
  15. Definately factor in the amount of fat, if your dogs are inactive, but PVCO has 20% less calories than other fats. Some dogs even lose weight on it...my dogs have remained the same. It has heaps of health benefits besides giving them a lovely coat. :) Good for us too & makes lovely scones & lumberjack cake to die for
  16. Bush ticks wont make them sick, but they sure will make them itchy.....& you, if they crawl up your legs or get in your hair or down your neck We get them here & sometimes the dogs will get dozens of the little blighters, if I have been a bit overdue with their Advantix. Put some Advantix or Frontline Plus on them a couple of days before you go camping. And if they are bad, spray your legs with insect repellant. Apart from that...Enjoy your camping trip with your dogs..... I am pretty sure that where you get bush ticks you are also likely to get the bad boys as well, so daily searching/feeling is a must.
  17. My young BC does that too, till I distract him out of it. He also does it with Advantix & anything else I put on him. I think with him it is all in his imagination, but wouldn't be surprised if it might sting a bit. The other BC doesn't care.
  18. Have you thought of giving them a tablespoon of pure virgin coconut oil daily with their food?? It does wonders for their coats & you notice a difference very quickly I'd be interested to try this having a long coated dog, I'm always on the hunt for extra shine, thickness and volume for my girl, where can I get this coconut oil? You get it from the health food shops. I pay about $20 for a large jar, but make sure it is pure virgin coconut oil. The one tablespoon is the rate for a BC. My two swim daily in the family saltwater/chlorinated pool & will sometimes spend up to 1 & 1/2 hours laying in the sun & swimming when they please (good life) & I don't bother rinsing them off afterwards, so their coats were getting a little dull (lucky they didn't turn green). Someone put me onto this & I noticed a difference in about 7 to 10 days. Lately I have been alternating with a raw egg yolk & sometimes they get both. :)

  20. Both my dogs love fish, either raw, whole or tinned. I wouldn't mind buying a small bag if I could find someone up my way that sells it (Northern NSW)..it sounds like the dogs like it & all the comments I have read so far have been positives
  21. I would like to try the salmon. Thanks, I will look them up. I looked them up a while ago, but must have had the wrong site as I got the feeling it was a product of Tasmania.
  22. Given the flogging you're dishing out to an unhappy BH user, its probably just as well. ;) So quote me....what "flogging" have I dished out...you tell me????????? The poster called me a liar for saying how much my two dogs drink in a day. Donatella...where can I get a sample of TOTW. It sounds good
  23. Are you telling me jim1 that I can NEVER enter a discussion on a dry food thread. If so then no-one can mention any other brands either. I don't "promote" BH . It is what I feed my dogs & they do well on it. Why should I hide that fact. I don't advertise BH, I don't own BH, I am not out to even make money on BH. I buy a few extra bags so that people who don't live in the big cities can obtain it at a fair price. If I cover my costs (& in 6 months I have not done that yet), I am happy with that. The BIG beneficiaries in my country area have been the dog clubs that I support. Unlike you, jim1, I do not use offensive language or bad mouth other brands of Dog Food. I have on a couple of occasions suggested that certain threads have been deliberately turned into free advertising for certain products. If you are a prime example of the people who use XYP what ever, then if ever I see it in the shops, I will think of you &
  24. Especially feel & look in areas of her body where the hair is sparse as I have been told the spot on does not work real well in these areas. You don't have to walk through scrub to get ticks, my dogs get them out of the lawn. Keep an eye on your self too, especially for those pesky tiny grass ticks that get into your underwear & in your hair
  25. Agree entirely...especially turning it into a vilification of BH, thread.
