  1. I put her outside for a pee about 3am & then tried to go back to sleep. Finally I went into a deep sleep & at 7am, she encouraged the younger dog to open the door for her (he's good at that) & she came flying into my bedroom & jumped up on me with lovely muddy paws & then proceeded to do zoomies around the room & carry on like a 2 month old. So still plenty of energy left in the old girl. Her appetite is good. She is eating the Hills which I pour some water over the top. She is not drinking much water. She is wanting more & more milk added. I tried her again this morning with the milk in the water, but she wouldn't touch it, till I poured it into her feed bowl. I thought I might get her some Brunswick Sardines No Salt Added, & just top her kibble with one or two as a treat. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences & advice. It is all being taken on board. Not sure if I would like to go totally down the holistic path as there is no-one local that I could see. & I really don't want to experiment with my precious girl. I have faith in this new vet I have been taking her to....just want to make her meals a little more exciting without upsetting the balance. I am about to order some RC dry plus cans.
  2. It is not a very nice smell...at first I thought it might be bad breath from the Hill kibble she is on
  3. Sardines come in Spring Water. Most brands have them I just get the Woolies home brand ones.
  4. Bindi will only drink water from the bowls that are inside the house
  5. She hasn't drunk much to day that I have noticed, probably because we have had visitors, & her breath stank, so I put a teaspoon of milk in a bowl of water & she drank the lot. Hope I have done the right thing,
  6. Bindi was on Carprofen (anti-inflammatory) which gave her a bleeding stomach ulcer. I found this out when I changed Vets. She had her last blood test for that on 1st November & everything was fine & all back to normal. So it has come up really quickly. The vet said that the dose she was on with the AI would not have caused it, but higher doses can. At the moment she is as bright as a button & I am going to be positive & order her the biggest bag of Royal Canine plus some cans. She is missing not getting her daily egg, sardines or yogurt
  7. She has now gone 3 nights without wetting her bed. Definately doesn't seem to be drinking as much water...I assume that is a good sign and that the food is making a difference.
  8. Is this the one ?? https://www.budgetpetproducts.com.au/new/product/royal-canin-veterinary-diet-canine-renal-7kg-for-dog-dry-21666/4792/?refs=9&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjZLhBRCAARIsAFHWpbF0161zrJoUQaokFc1DnnMAs7DqpaRmyCj1lhrBMxklJQoSrDy3k-QaApsbEALw_wcB
  9. Thanks Crazeydoglady for posting that. Interesting that she can still have an egg & sardines & the vet said that her 1/2 turkey neck a day should be fine. she also said to introduce the new food gradually over a week.
  10. Bindi has just turned 11& still has heaps of energy. I took her to the vet because she has started to pee in her sleep & at first we were pretty confident that it was a treatable old lady thing, until she did the tests
  11. Bindi has just been diagnosed with Stage 3 Renal Failure...all this since her last blood test on 1st November which didn't show up any problem. So it has happened quite quickly. The vet could not offer me any info on just how much time we may have left, but has put her on the Hills diet both wet & dry & she will go on medication but had to order that in. Any one know of any alternative to Hills or anything else I should know? She has always loved an egg on her dinner, sardines & Yogurt but not sure if she can still have these things. I asked the vet, but her answer was a little inconclusive.
  12. Thanks...I was wondering what size to get, so that is interesting. I will get some & give them a try. She only needs it on while in the house, especially when sleeping
  13. I have just looked at the vast array of baby nappies in the supermarket & was wondering if anyone has used any of a particular type on their bitch for incontinence?? Of course a hole would have to be cut for her tail.
  14. I've just been to town & went to Pet Stock. They didn't have any diapers, but they sold me some pee pads to put on her bed. If I had known I would have popped down to Pet Barn, but now I am not going any where near town till after Christmas. I did look at the many assorted types of baby nappies in the supermarket & wondered how they would go if a hole was cut for the tail?? Maybe someone here has tried it & could guide me towards the right type. By the way, TBD...what medication did your dog go on?
  15. OK..so I have been doing some googling & these are actually pads that they lie on. I am looking more for some sort of panti that will hold a pad
  16. Thanks Dogsfevr. We have been away for two weeks & the first time I noticed it was the day that we left & now again on our first day back. Both times it has been when she has come out of the outdoor kennel. But I just had a feel of her bed, which is in my bedroom & it was damp & reeks or pee. Poor old thing, she has been in the wars a bit lately. Can I get these pee pads from any pet store or only online?? I will get her tested as soon as I can at the vets.
  17. How do you keep these conni pads on a bitch? Lately my girl will sometimes get up from sleeping & one hip will be dripping wet as if she may have peed herself. It doesn't smell, but I think my sense of smell is not as good as it used to be
  18. I would just like to add....when someone is greeting the dog, ask them to get down to the dog's level. It can be quite confronting for a dog if you lean over it.
  19. Sorry, I don't know why it came up with that...I was trying to share the link to an old post...will try again https://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/259906-panacur-25/
  20. Yes Maisie was a lovely natured dog, but one day she just got up from a sleep & dropped dead..have no idea why but probably a heart attack
  21. She looks identical to a dog that my daughter used to have, also from Tamworth. It was from a lady that crossed border collies with labradors. Unfortunately the dog died suddenly at the age of 4.
  22. It is good for dogs too, but forget the catnip. Same goes tho...you buy it as a plant in Bunnings Herb section
