  1. Thanks DC. For those who are interested or just feel like a laugh...here is the video link Bindi & I are the first dog. Another place I got confused was, when Jazza knocked his first (& only jump) & I went back to fix it, he went over to start my bit, instead of just staying put to do the weaves. Looking back on the video, Bindi did a pretty good job except for knocking that last jump. What it all boils down to is that Adam & I were not watching each other.
  2. Thanks everyone for your input. I think we were laughing so much that honestly none of us knew what was going on. What a shame it happened all because Bindi knocked that one bar. It was the ONLY bar she knocked the whole weekend out of 8 runs. I was interested to know if there were rules regarding two dogs on the same contact obstacle, & I can see that some situations it could be deemed dangerous. So now I am without a partner for the SPDX for the upcoming Grafton Trial
  3. I wouldn't be feeding ANY food made by Diamond. If you read the forum accompanying that thread, they have had 15 large brand recalls. About time they got their act together before more pets die.
  4. We ran Strategic Pairs Excellent on the weekend & the second last obstacle was the dog walk. I have had a look at the rules & can't find what I am looking for. If the active dog runs the dog walk & the inactive dog follows after it (two dogs on at the same time), is this a penalty. Looking at the video, I can't see why the judge keeps telling us to change several times with the DW as contacts were being made. The only thing I can think of is maybe both dogs might have been on it at the same time...the video only shows part of the dog walk. We ran out of time in the end, but we got a good laugh especially as both dogs are almost identical.
  5. We had our first trial since I made this posting & I am please to say, the difference in Bindi was amazing Each morning for breakfast, a couple of hours before the trial, I gave her about 100grams mince mixed with a good amount of warm water & she scoffed the lot. At the trial, I put some of her BH Kibble in the water & she scoffed the lot each time. On Saturday she got 2 "Q"s out of 4 runs, which gave her the ADX Title & this morning she ran another "Q" in ADX & she excelled in all the other events & only brought undone by my bad handling I gave the new boy the same (he's not trialling) & the strange thing is that neither of them did much in the way of poops....maybe they were hanging on till we got home.
  6. Probably only affects overseas product but there has been a recall of some of this food because of a salmonella scare Details
  7. We will be at the Port Macquarie Agility trial this weekend & will have some samples of Adult Formula with us, if anybody wants one. We can't take any more orders with us though as we are full up, but remember we can courier it to you for $10 if you miss out. :)
  8. Drop Sherel a line at here. I am pretty sure she is still sending samples out :)
  9. Yeah...probably not a good idea to double the recommended amount because then you are doubling up on everything & that is probably one of the reasons why you were having trouble. My dogs would eat it all day long too, if I let them, they just love it so much. It's interesting how different breeds tolerate or need different feeds. My two large, very active BC's don't even get the recommended rate. What other feeds have you found that they do well on & what other dry feeds have you tried that didn't work?? It has me interested :) Have you tried Bonnie Working Dog?? Have you tried supplementing their dry with something like lamb flaps which is fairly high in fat.
  10. Alyosha. ....I am sorry the BH didn't work out for your guys, but I am a little confused because on the previous page you said quote "Found they needed far more than recommended to hold weight" & now you are saying that it put weight on them. Not all foods suit all dogs. My two Border collies have been on this food now for most of their lives & they continue to do well & look great with no itches & plenty of energy as well as a steady weight. Are your dogs the same breed...then maybe it is not suitable for your breed of dog...just a thought. For every dog that it doesn't suit, there is probably a hundred or more out there that is benefiting from BH. Unfortunately we only hear about the negatives as the people who have positives about the product have well & truly exhausted their praise :)
  11. Thanks everyone. I think my girl might get a foot trim today...she looks like she has snow shoes on. :)
  12. When grooming a border collie, what parts should be neatly trimmed. I tried googling youtubes but it only came up with grooming rough collies. Thanks in advance :)
  13. Feathering or long coat on some dogs. Ahhhh...thankyou. Do you mean like the feathers on the legs & pants on a border collie??
  14. Can I be a real pain in the neck & a complete idiot and ask, please......what are we talking about when referring to "Furnishings"
  15. Yeah...she is self taught & loves it, but it would be nice to be able to train with other people & dogs. Ours dogs are largely "self-taught" everything because of our demographics, but we do make the two hour trip every Monday night for Agility training, when it's not washed out. :) Thanks Ness
  16. Just check with customs first to make sure you can get them into the country. The pamphlet I have from them, simply states "no animal products" Seems OK - Link - but otherwise TSD's link should do the trick :) The pamphlet is obviously just a "summery" & a broad statement. It seems then the only risk is maybe having customs open your parcel to inspect & delay it's delivery, which has happened to me quite a few times, (without animal products contained) hence the pamphlets they send me. I buy off Clean Run all the time, but have not been game to buy any "real" fur things. I will do so in future...thanks Weasels.
  17. I would really love to do more Heel Work to Music but the opportunities for that sort of thing up near where I live is non-existent. Sometimes they have workshops at the Gold Coast, but that is over 4 hours drive away. I would also like to do sheep herding, but the only training for that is 5 hours drive away....
  18. Just check with customs first to make sure you can get them into the country. The pamphlet I have from them, simply states "no animal products"
  19. Who knows I might get hooked :) I like the Rally O because you can talk & praise your dog as you go. So far, my dog is pretty keen & obviously enjoys it.
  20. Hi I think there was a typo in one of the schedules published in which Rally O Novice A & B were offered. There is no A & B in Rally O Novice in Australia but I believe the Club in question is holding 3 Obedience & 3 Rally O Trials over the weekend so plenty of opportunities to achieve some qualifying scores. Sheena, I don't know if you noticed this post. I'm sure this is right - there is no provision in the rules for A and B at Rally Novice level. It does kick in at Advanced and Excellent. The B courses are for dogs who have already achieverd their title at that particular level. Tassie, I had a sneeking suspicion that that was the case....in other words the RN (A&B) is a misprint. You are saying that the B courses are for those dogs that have already achieved their titles at that level, but wouldn't that exclude them from competing at the same level they have already titled at Like in Agility, if you have achieved ADX, then you must go up to ADM etc. Mrs Rusty Bucket...Yeah...that is what I don't like about obedience too, & I always think the dogs don't look very happy. But in Rally O, you can praise & pat the dog through the course. I have been to a few RO workshops & have come to the conclusion that the people who judge these events all have a different interpretation of the rules. I am only doing the CCD so I don't sit around all weekend with nothing to do, waiting for my couple of minutes on the RO course. I don't expect to do any good in the CCD, but we will train for it & give it a go...it can only be good for myself & my dog. It's not really something that I want to continue with...I think I have my hands full with two dogs doing agility.
  21. The schedule says:- Saturday AM RN(A&B), RA(A&B), RE(A&B) Saturday PM (the same) CCD CD,CDX UDX, UD Sunday (the same) just different judges. There are 4 rings with the RO being in ring 4 for the whole weekend.
  22. Most produce stores sell Bonnie...take your camera along & ask them can you take some photos...tell them why.
  23. OK....so I will go with the CCD. I have been watching a few Youtubes (Australian) & the only thing she might have trouble with is distinguishing between the halt/sit & the halt/stand, so will have to work on that. Also the stand for inspection...she might be inclined to sit for the nice judge :D So will work on that too. We get three goes at it over the weekend as well as three goes at the RO. I still havn't been able to work out why they have RN(A&B), but I will just put down RN & let them work it out....meantime I will keep asking. I can't see us going any further than Novice with Obedience...it's not something that excites me...but Bindi is just wrapped in heeling, so I will do it for her  To go any further, I would have to change her very ingrained & sloppy sit & casual down position. Thanks everyone. :)
  24. Not sure if you caught my post above where I answered your question about the samples, but as far as I know, Sherel (she owns & makes BH) will still send you a sample, but you will have to email her or send her a PM. She is on DOL under Collies02. The main difference between the puppy & the adult is the protein & fat levels. They are both free of wheat, corn & soy. What sort of puppy are you getting??? When I got my Border Collie Puppy at 11 weeks, on the advice of Breeders, I put him straight onto the Adult & he has been on it ever since. I have been very happy with the result & it saved me having to have both Puppy & Adult formulas as I have another dog as well.
