  1. Oh, I thought it was already grain free. Darn It's corn, wheat & soy free
  2. I just bought one of those from Clean Run & had no problems getting it in & the dogs love it
  3. There's This One from Mandy at Callicoma Kelpies :)
  4. Based on this theory, Jazz should never make it over a bar. I have been training her with an injured shoulder - I can not hold my arm up at all or out for any period of time. Poor girl has had to learnt to work from very minimal signals on that side of my body, basically just my forearm and she has coped fine and is not a bar knocker (at this stage - yet to test it in a trial but I can only think of 3 times in training she has dropped a bar in 12 months). I'm looking forward to recovering from the shoulder surgery I had last week and finally getting out there to trial her as she is so training so well at the moment (or was, hopefully still will when we return from my enforced break). I've have never heard of that..... I have my arm extended if I want the dog to stay out & bring it in close to my body if I want her to move in to me, but it doesn't matter where I have my arm in relation to her dropping bars. I can have my arm behind my back & she will not knock bars. If you start with your arm up & then drop it, it shouldn't make her knock a bar, it will simply bring her in to you, so she might miss a jump that was further out.....if that makes sense.
  5. I use a conditioner on their pants & tails after a bath, but they don't get many baths. I use a human leave-in conditioner on them when I brush them.
  6. ..but IMO as dogs/cats do not eat the stomach contents ..this doesn't benefit them when given whole carcasses of,say ,rabbit about all that's left is the little stomach etc many years ago, in lean times when we used to feed the stomach and intestines of sheep butchered for our use, to dogs..they had to be washed well , or the dogs would not touch them ..or any other bits where stomach contents had been spilled . My dogs love kangaroo poo....the greener the better, but I think they would turn their noses up at stomach contents containing the bile. The tripe is just the stomach lining, isn't it ?

I imagine the stomach contents would be very bitter with the bile & digestive juices.
  8. whether or not there is a contract could be immaterial. Even for a pet dog, she has sold "goods" that are not fit for purpose. In they eyes of consumer law, dogs are the same as whitegoods. But they would still need a receipt or some proof of purchase... I have a gut feeling that the OP doesn't have one....I hope I am wrong Maybe the OP could enquire with their state body of ANKC to see what has been submitted if at all by the breeder.
  9. What breed is the puppy?? I can't see how mentioning it's breed would get you into any trouble but it could help someone in suggesting some kind of help. It is very sad to think that someone would breed, let alone sell, a puppy as bad as this on mains register
  10. By Borders...do you mean Border collies???? My Border collies 19 kilos & 23 kilos get one cup a day plus half a turkey neck & they are very active dogs. The amount is only a guide & it depends on what else you are feeding them, so if they are putting on weight & you dont want it, then just cut down the amount & save your money. :)
  11. Get the kitchen scales out & weigh it :)
  12. I taught over to give the jump a name & now I probably use it too often, but try to only use it if she has to discriminate between two obstacles. My commands are basically, "out" meaning move away from me & take the obstacle, "here" come towards me & take the obstacle or make a sharp turn towards me, "go" meaning go on ahead of me & take everything in your path, which is good for the run home, & "go round" meaning do a tight wrap around the upright of the jump back towards me. We also teach left & right, but don't use it very often & of course, every obstacle has its on name. We use "up" for the A frame, "walk on" for the dog walk, "tunnel", "over" for the jumps, "see saw" for the wee saw & "go weavers" for the weave poles. My girl works quite well, if I run her & don't say anything, but she is more accurate & faster if I give commands. :)
  13. Oh how embarrassing.. & I am going to be worse after the National Grand Prix in October. I have a good excuse...it's called Old Age
  14. Hi k9katz. I am not sure what happened to the thread...I havn't been on for a couple of hours, so not sure what got it deleted. It's good to be aware of what we are feeding our pets AND ourselves, I sure you would agree. I shall do some Googling for BHA & BHT...thanks for that :) ETA...I found this information on BHA & BHT which some people might find interesting (quote) What foods contain BHA and BHT? BHA is generally used to keep fats from becoming rancid. It is also used as a yeast de-foaming agent. BHA is found in butter, meats, cereals, chewing gum, baked goods, snack foods, dehydrated potatoes, and beer. It is also found in animal feed, food packaging, cosmetics, rubber products, and petroleum products. BHT also prevents oxidative rancidity of fats. It is used to preserve food odor, color, and flavor. Many packaging materials incorporate BHT. It is also added directly to shortening, cereals, and other foods containing fats and oils.(quote) Probably another good reason for avoiding foods that contain artificial preservatives. I am glad the kibble I feed my dogs does not contain this. Yep Totally agree, it is very important to read the labels of all products but even more important to understand what the statements mean or what the ingredients listed actually are. If anyone has any doubts about something rather than get bogged down with all sorts of info from the internet, go straight to the supplier and ask them outright, thats what they are there for and there shouldnt be any hesitation to answer your concerns. Yep...I agree...thats exactly what I have done & no hesitation in answering my questions either. A shame we got deleted k9katz as I thought we were having a very healthy debate on preservatives in foods, till some others came in & spoilt it for us. :) I am glad you came back cause I genuinaly think you have a lot to offer
  15. I agree with you there sheridan, Missy was on raw for 2 and half weeks before putting her on earthborn holistic grain free, When she was feed raw she seemed happier, her scratching basicly stop, her horrible farts where no longer there, her poos were smaller and they didn't smell. SO i believe Missy my whippet will do better on raw then on kibble. With Rascal my white/brown chihuahua his coat colour seems brighter, his poos are smaller and not smelly altho he still eats his poos. Shelley my golden retriever seems better on kibble even if feed 1.5% of raw to what she should weigh she still managed to gain weight, Where with kibble she seems to maintain her weight better. is anyone else as confused as me ?????? I think I need a drink.
  16. Here is the page from the website that has photos of all the judges...is this any help National Judges
  17. I have a cheap one for my two border collies...probably cost about $20 from the produce shop & it is still going strong many years later. But I only have two dogs.
  18. Nothing compared to the number of posters who continuously attack anybody who dares to mention BH  Talk about belittling someones product??....you take the cake Donatella :)
  19. A gentle guide is punishment for my girl But they are all different :) Eye contact is all well and good until you get to out of sight stays  Once I'm out of sight she's generally ok - it's while I'm in sight that I have issues. We're only giving CCD a try, so wont have to worry about out of sight stays I will be interested to see if you can find a solution.
  20. It`s recommended to only put two drops in the food daily, so buying a lot of capsules would last a long time and go beyond the use by date at that rate. Actually, i just found Evening Primrose Oil liquid on Ebay in a 125ml bottle for $19.95. Cheers :) How much Evening Primrose in a dose daily? :) I've got no idea...sorry I am no help terrace I've have never given it. Maybe google it & see what you come up with.
  21. I dont do a collar grab...when she drops down from a sit, I just gently take the collar in two hands...one on each side & gently raise her back into a sit, repeating my command in a friendly voice. I don't collar grab, as in punishment, just as a gentle guide so she knows what I want. I think I am going to have the same problem as you in the ring, cause she is highly sensitive to "correcting" voices & also the other dogs are going to be nervous. I am going to try, keeping eye contact with her the whole time & keep smiling as if to say "you are such a good girl, dont' take any notice of the others" If I don't stay relaxed & looking happy, she will shut down for sure.

  23. I guess the question I need to ask is....do you think she knows what stay means? I think she used to, but something has happened to lessen her understanding. Maybe I should do some individual exercises to strengthen that? Last night we trained with a group. She did the sit stay no problems. In the down stay, she stood up when I got about 10m away. I released then reset her and she was ok for the full 5 minutes. I could tell she was nervous for the first 30 seconds or so - sniffed the ground a bit and was looking around. After that she settled and even put her head down. We then did a few more quick stays just with a trusted and steady dog, with no problems. I tried short distance as well as long distance but I can't quite work out what her threshold is. My guess is that she is nervous about staying when with other dogs...she probably feels vulnerable...but you've probably already thought of that. I teach my stays, using their food. I am currently training my girl for her first ever CCD & have been working on this. If I put her in a sit, I don't add "stay" as "sit" should mean, "sit there until you are released", then put the food down away from her & time her with a stop watch. If she drops I just say woops, & go back & gently pull her on the collar to reposition her....I never release her when she breaks as this could be seen as a reward for breaking her sit. I watch her very carefully, for signs of impatience & try & release her before she decides to break...if you know what I mean. She is very good & we are up to 1 minute sits where she will move nothing but her head I also practice it at agility training with all the distractions around her, but I don't ask for a whole minute, cause I don't believe in setting her up to fail. However....I fear it is going to be a different story in the competition with other dogs sitting near her.
  24. Welcome to the world of Agility....& a warning.....it is very addictive. I have a mountain of training DVD's (as I said...it is addictive) here is a link to the page on my web site where I have most of them listed...I have added to them since but have not updated :D Recommended viewing What breed of dog are you training ??
  25. I only have one word to say .......WOW...... great effort, you must be so proud of her.
