  1. Geography of things. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  2. Looks like there is a broader interest in dog-dog aggression, then.
  3. Rotty: We could see if K9 could get our dogs could walk past each other without acting up!
  4. I don't know if what I want to know is of any use to anyone else but addressing fear based dog-dog aggression, other than the approach of 'he needs to trust in you as leader' etc. If there is another approach! Maybe that's the the only and 'right' answer, I don't know. On that note, I'd also like some tips on staying calm and not a nervous wreck while your dog is being very naughty because as another dog is near. I can't assert calmness and leadership if I'm terrified that he's going to hurt a dog. Anyway, as I said this kind of stuff may not be of any use to anyone else and I can certainly pursue other ways of finding out the answers to my issues.
  5. The treat is a reward for after you've done it thing. Considering they just pretend to do the reward bit I'm sure George won't mind if he doesn't have to pretend to eat a treat after he has done something. They're up to 'class three' now so they must be doing something right.
  6. No worries Shoemonster. I think the not saying 'no' might be balanced with the philosophy of ignore the dog if it is doing the wrong thing, but that's just a guess. And that certainly wouldn't work for all things. My friend was rather miffed about having to sit out that time, but he stuck with it. Now John and George just fake that part-John holds the treats out and George sniffs them. Sneaky buggers!
  7. I'm in Melbourne for a non-dog related student conference. I am fearing the cold!
  8. Nothing specific. I know they (the club) do use them and he doesn't have a problem with it. He says the dog would probably prefer something around his neck than over his mouth though.
  9. We await your PM... Ironically Erny I will be in Melbourne the following week, don't suppose you can warm up the place a bit for me?
  10. My friend was a bit cautious about the club at first because they don't let you tell the dog "no" and he and his dog had to sit out one lesson because George (dog) didn't eat his reward treats. However he now can "see what the club is doing" and has stuck with them. He also said he would recommend the club because "they show you a huge variety of techniques because every dog is different. So as a student you need to learn to take what works and go for the outcomes". Your choice is up to you, but I thought some direct feedback may be useful.
  11. And I may be good for lunch/dinner, but preferably in the city.
  12. Valby, I think I have a friend who actually goes to that club. Would you like me to find out their thoughts on it?
  13. Great thread. What is a snood? That A-frame is worth further consideration.
  14. I'd also be interested in any report back of success with the therapist. The one mentioned is near me, but I'd be interested to hear feedback before investigating further.
