Hi, My suggestion is.......it is now the start of the Pointer and Setter Trial season.......so contact VCA or look on their website for the Field Trial Clubs and contact the Secretaies as to when they are holding training days or either Club Trials or ANKC Trials. This will also give you an idea of how a trial works and puts you into contact with breeders and other trialers. PS there is a training day and field trial being held in NSW at Barmedman. This is being run by the Pointing Breeds Field Trial Club NSW. The training day is open to all Pointing breeds and the trial is a Club Trial and is also open to all Pointing breed.....ANKC trial are restricted to Setters and Pointers only.

Hi, I dont enter under friends.......if you value and have a good friendship you should already know how they feel about your dog and this shouldn't have to be backed up by a ribbon

Anyone know what the road and weather (ie ice and snow) conditions are to get to Orange show from over the Blue Mountains. Thanks

Hi, I buy lots of things from the US......with postage before you confirm the purchase....ask the seller if they can post either USPS Priority Int'l Mail (this has insurance and has to be signed for) or First Class Int'l Mail (supposedly this is slower, but never have found it to be, doesn't have insurance, but has to be signed for in some cases). Priority is about $10 cheaper than Fedex and First Class can the half the price of Priority. I always ask........if they answer is no only Fedex I find another seller or similiar product.

Hi, Give DogsSA a call to see if anyone is doing handler classes........if they aren't helpful, ring the secretary's of a few All Breed Kennnel Clubs, as there maybe someone doing handling classes privately. I'm not sure if DogsSA has a website if they do have a look at this, as there should be a section What to do. Good Luck PS Just check DogsSA website, they do have a page explaining dog shows, there is a full list of Clubs. If you have no luck with Handler classes........contact your local Obedience Club, alot of people do show and obedience, whilst you might not find someone who has your breed, the basic technique of showing is the same for most breeds

Hi, The rules that cover collars and leads for DNSW is under the Show section 12.4..........all that is said is a 'suitable collar and leash'.......no harnesses and lead to be no longer than 6ft or 183cm. No electric, spike, prong or pinch collar are allowed in the ring or during training sessions.

Anyone Use A Horse Float As A Dog Trailer?
Showpony replied to Merrirose's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, Saw a goose neck float..... VERY BIG one being used when on the central west NSW circuit last year.............it had accommodation ie, kitchen, small louge/dining area, and sleeping area in the front. The dog crates were in the horse area. The tail gate was put down so the dogs could be got out of the trailer easily. Very clean and super nice rig. Don't know if the dogs travelled in the back when on the road....crates would have to be anchored but also ride could be a bit rough. Horse floats tend to travel better when fully loaded. Cheers -
Squeaky Toy In The Ring - Show Update!
Showpony replied to Inevitablue's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, So the new outfit worked !!!!!! -
Hi, Use the agent....much easier.........but also be aware that agents can sometimes make mistakes.........so get copies of all paperwaork and read it thoroughly especially the microchip number. If you saw Border Security last week the problem with the Pointer was the microchip number........a number was left off by the Vet in the US who did the Rabies shot, testing and certificate........so when the dog was scanned when it arrived the numbers were different............lucky AQIS figured what had happened and just re ordered a Rabies Test. It was also lucky the agent also scanned the dog and made note of the number.

Hi, Sounds lovely, pink should look really nice.......just make sure you can run in your RM's on grass as they can be slippery and if so get a rubber half sole put on them and this solves the problem (speaking from experience with doing halter classes with horses)

What Makes A Show/s Popular With You?
Showpony replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, - Ring ropes that you can see - Having a Gundog........a large ring - plenty of cababna space around all rings- Kangaroo Valley is very squashy too - interstate or o/s judges - 8.30 start for Sweepstakes - 30-40 min lunch break - a cabana set up at the ring entrance for marshalling - this was done at Kangaroo Valley and was great to be able to stand in the shade -
Thinking about it (and I don't know what others do) i'd stitch over the end so it couldn't fray before sewing the end in - then making sure it wasn't poking out again when you take the needle off. You shouldn't see the end at all (it should be inside the paracord) and then you over-sew (sew down the length of the lead where you poked it in) to stop it from coming back out again. (Will also strengthen the end). Does this make sense? Anyone know where you can get snap hooks? Also looking for martingdale collars - I can make them but want a light weight jewellers link chain with small rings on the end. All the collars I have found - the rings are too big. Ebay usa Opps i knew there was something i had to do sorry!!! Ill do it when im home!!!! Yes...ebay USA....just do a world wide search for paracord 550

Hi, I just ordered off ebay from Majesctic Dreams some paracord 550.....it was US$4.69 for 50ft or 15m with $14.00 for postage, you would get a minimum of 15 leads out of this length...but this also depends on the length of the lead...........even if you got 10 leads it's still works out at $2.00 for cord per lead. Cheers

Hi, I was going to suggest gold, pumpkin, rust ....a pale/sky blue could look nice also. Is the Specialty using a local or a judge from overseas. I have had American judges stay after judging, that made the comment.........did the female exhibitors think the show was not important as they wore trousers, since that I have always worn a skirt suit. In my Breed I find the English dont seem to care..........when I look at the photos of the Specialty show in England the exhibitors are very casual in their dress, look more like they doing a spot of gardening rather than dog showing.......but they must be comfortable. Another bit of advice is.........if you are going to wear a skirt and jacket.........make sure you can run and bend down in the skirt . I have a fast running breed, I look for skirts with either a tulip hemline or some pleating. Dont go for a short skirt, there are times that you need to bend over and you dont want to flash the spectators. Shoes are important too, look for something with grip. Sketchers and Rivers are good and look nice with skirts or pants. Have a few practices in the outfit with your dog before show day. Good luck and have fun shopping

Champion Class- Should We Have A Seperate Class?
Showpony replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in General Dog Discussion
The same thing would happen if it was made that rare breeds receive no points for not beating anything. We just do not have the numbers in a whole heap of breeds for much competition here in Austalia. 6 or 7 point challenges are it the majority of the time, and not by choice for most of us! Each and every judge has to sign their name that each and every challenge winner is worthy of their champion title. Hi, Another way of looking at this question is.............if the sons and daughters of Champions and Gr Champions can't beat their parents...........then maybe this is a question of what is being produced. I like the system as it is and agree with others that have said that it's not perfect but not broken either. With Arabian Horses, there are only 4 main breed shows a year in NSW ending with the Australian Championships. At this show, in the pure bred Halter section, once you win a Champion Pure bred Mare or Stallion class you cannot compete at this show again.........they do not have a Champion class.........I think it's a shame that these horses cannot compete again and be seen at this event. Also with Dressage, you often get young riders competing in classes with Olympians............and I have regularly seen the young riders win. -
Hi, Wondering if there is a number breakdown of the entries for these shows? Intered in the Gundog Group. Cheers

Hi, There are powered sites available at EP to DNSW Members and can only be used inconjunction with a show. There is a booking form on the website, in the members section under forms. You dont have to log in to get access to this form.

Hi, The US sellers on ebay I get my paracord from are Five Star EDC and Majestic Dreams. If you also need O rings try Country Brook Design. There is some way of doing a search for sellers....but not sure how you do it. Cheers When searching on ebay I just use the local ebay and also ask for a worldwide search.......if you type paracord 550........you should get the US sellers anyway, and if not ask for the worldwide search
-
Hi, See if you can borrow one from a friend..........once you see a paracord beaded lead they are not that hard to copy.......especially if your crafty
-
Hi, You can get finer paracord on Ebay..........just look at the diameter and strand count...Cheers

Hi, There are lots of sellers on ebay that have beads with large holes.............they will list them as similiar to pandora or suit pandora. Genuine Pandora beads are expensive and it is a trade mark name.......which is why the seller list the beads to suit Pandora. Just checked ebay....you need to put into the search....beads to fit 14mm charm bracelet..........lots of large hole beads come up.........I would guess the sellers are no longer allowed to say for Pandora unless they are genuine. Also...some of the larger leather supply shops do lessons and also have books.......I know it little help to you but have a look at the Birdsall Leather & Craft site (they are in Sydney)

I too have just bought a pair from shoebuy.com which worked out to about $75 incl postage. Although it took them 14 days to actually send me the confirmation to say they were being sent, it only took from the friday to monday for them to arrive via DHL. This is my fourth pair of skechers and I love them. Funky colours and cool designs. Hi, Rivers are brilliant...........they have lots of shoes that are similiar in design to Sketchers. Very cheap, lots of colours, non slip and it doesn't matter if they get trashed with wet weather or mud...easy and inexpensive to replace.
