Hi, It just been reported on ABC News the dog is to be put down
-
In which case, it might be quite useful from a medical perspective. Poor dog's probably wondering what hit it. My thoughts too, I can't understand why they can't use this to their advantage In learning more on this disease, rather than just kill the dog and be done with It Hi, The dog has tested for anti bodies not virus....which means the dog's immune system has dealt with the virus.......I agree, the dog should not be PTS but investigated a bit more.........unfortunately the one and only horse that recovered from Hendra was PTS, could have learnt alot more from this.......but it was deemed too dangerous at the time.

Does Anyone Know Where This Lead Came From?
Showpony replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
 Hi, There is a seller on ebay called elitegreyhound who is in Victoria. He hand makes Greyhound leads and collar. I recently purchased a lead set for my Pointer........I used the wide collar when I have my dog on a 20m cord.......the lead is similiar to what you have, but with a buckle........they will make to measure and to special requirements......the quality of the leather and work is fantasic. -
Hi, One thing to remember eventingpony........we all start at the same place....we were all once newbies. You actually have a slight advantage having shown horses, you already understand about judging, training, preparation, dealing with other exhibitors etc. There are alot of horse people that also show dogs, so dont be surprised if you bump into some that you either know or recognise. Really all you have to get use to is a different species, and after showing horses..........you will do ok and be fine.

Hi, Have you thought of going direct to Oztrail.....as you can buy mail order from them.....I have been able to get spare parts from them, just send them an email. Their website is www.oztrail.com.au

Hi, My special area is show suits and have a wardrobe full to prove it..LOL... I buy all my suits on line from America......I have never gone wrong with the sizing but what you have to do...is if you have a skirt and jacket that fits you nicely........lay the skirt on a table and measure across the waist, hips and length. With the jacket do the buttons up and measure the bust, waist, length. These are the 'Laying Flat' measurements and the most reliable, use these are your base and have them in cm and inches. The US sizes are smaller than ours so if your an Aust 10 there is a good chance you'll be a US 8. Now just go to ebay and search for eg 'skirt suit 8' then do a worldwide search, this brings up the US and English suits. Most of the sellers put the 'Laying Flat' measurements if they haven't send them a message......now with postage always ask if they will sent First Class instead of Priority.....it gets here in the same amount of time and is half the price. I never pay anymore than $60.00 inc postage for a suit. I have even pick up some high end designer labels which had been worn once and only paid $15.00 plus $15.00 postage. Good Luck

Hi, I had similiar problem with trying get into the online member section......it wouldn't let me register, so I could use it.......the problem was my email address wasn't noted through the system........so all I did was send an email to DNSW telling them the problem and it was fixed. With transferring your puppy into your name....you either have to take the paperwork to the office or post it in.

Private Conformation Trainers Wgtn? Advice?
Showpony replied to Maddy27's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, Also the surface you stand on is important.......make sure her feet cant slip.....so train her on grass or a cement path....not on lino or carpet. Lots of praiseand treats.....make it fun. -
Hi, Go to www.cedia.fr..........at the top of the page is 3 flags, click of the English/Union Jack flag to translate to English.........there is a blue heading INFORMATION....under this is a menu click on Live Results.....when this page comes up click on Mondiale this is the WDS results, then at the side of the next page is a list of Groups, click on the Group then a menu comes up listing the breeds...click on this for the results.......bear in mind the Group numbers are not the same as ours.....the reults are also there for the French Championship Show held at the same time

Hi, I know this is slightly off topic.......but with the travelling that Gundog trialers have to do.....just to do a training day let alone compete (I travelled 6 hours for a club training day).......does that make them petrol Champions too !!
-
Hi SC, Depending what ring you ae in......get there the day before and stake a claim on a spot, with ropes and pegs...LOL......though I have noticed that spaces are usually available around most rings or within veiwing distance.......space is always at a premium around the Gundog and Terrier ring being in the middle of the complex. I am one of those that goes the day defore and puts up my gazebo frame.......when I arrive in the morning of the show I leave the dogs in the car, pack all my stuff in my trolley, set up mt gazebo, mat, chairs, crates etc, I get the dogs and take them for a walk, put them in the crates and trolley, get a cuppa tea, get the catalogue, being at the end of my Group I usually get changed mid morning. Then just sit or go and talk to people I know. My dogs are usually walked 2-3 times and definately during the luch break. Cheers PS. Though my dogs are on 3rd last breed in my Group......I am always there 30min to hour before the start of the show........I just can't relax if I get there late

Dogs Nsw,is It About Time They Owned Their Own Ground
Showpony replied to klink's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, There are moves afoot to have Erskine Park as Sydney's permanent home.....with representations in the progress of being made to the body who controls the ground and State Government as well local members of Parliment. I think this is probably a good starting point, would be silly not to try and get the grounds that our money has been 'wasted' on first......either way doesn't matter if the grounds stay where they are or a new ground has to be purchaed.....money will be levied anyway no doubt, and there is stuff all that can be done about it -
Hi, Yes, will be going......but another thing I am curious about with regard to this show.......how does the general public find out about it......has anyone seen or heard any advertisement for the show. My curiosity was peaked with this on Tuesday as I was listening to ABC Radio and the DNSW Vet Representative had a 30min segment......the discussion came around to selecting suitable breeds and I was a bit surprised that not one mention was made of the Open Day in the conversation by the DogsNSW Vet.......I know your probably thinking it's the ABC and no advertising is allowed.......but the name DogsNSW comes up all the time in this segment along with the website........so a quick mention of the Open day would have be a great free advertisement.

Why Enter A Young Dog In State Bred, aussie Bred Or Open
Showpony replied to scolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, I agree with everyone else it's mainly done to separate exhibits if you have dogs clashing in the same class........but in the case of Junior and Intermediate, these classes are not interchangeable.....Junior is for 9 months and under 18 months.........Intermediate is for 18 months and under 36 months -
Hi, There is John Monroe (Chelmsford Lodge Greyhounds) in the Morisett are and in Syndey Gary Barnsley at Greendale/Luddenham area

Hi, This is my opinion on Breeder Contract, I personally wouldn't want a dog under these/any conditions IF I was PAYING a FULL PRICE for said puppy. I'm all for half, triple or whatever number of people in a co ownership..........but only if all parties are going to contribute financially to the dogs care.........and this is where I find contracts to be totally unfair.......as most of ones I have seen are worded that the Breeder has all the say and the new owner all the expense. With desexing pet puppies have have seen where a breeder sell her pups for all the same price....but makes an offer to the pet puppy owners to refund the cost of desexing give a pet price discount on presentation of a vet certicate and receipt, that the desexing has been done.
-
Hi, This is a how long is a piece of string questions.........Ive seen plenty of 'show' dogs that necessarily shouldn't be around the ring. Guess it depends on how capable the owner is at reading dogs and keeping theirs under some sort of control.......though don't really know how you can keep Joe public and his dog off a public ground or away from a public exhibition.
-
Hi, Sorry cant remember the name.......but there is a caravan/cabin park that allows dogs in the cabin, well it did 12 months ago......have used it as our overnight base for the Tullamore/Trundle weekend......very basic but clean and warm. PS it's the Parkes Overnighter Caravan Park....book early it's not very big......Good Luck

This is the answer sent to me by the RTA NSW:- Thank you for your email. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act Rule 7, states that a person must not carry or convey a dog (other than a dog being used to work livestock), on the open back of a moving vehicle on a public street unless the dog is restrained or enclosed in such a way as to prevent the dog falling from the vehicle. Dogs should not ride unrestrained in either the front or back seats of any vehicle as the police may fine you if they deem that you do not have proper control of the vehicle due to the animal interfering with your control. Specially designed animal boxes and harnesses are available and should be used. A pet harness can be attached to the vehicle's seat belt allowing the dog to sit or lie on the seat. These harness and boxes can be purchased in a variety or sizes from the RSPCA or from pet supply stores. It is stated in legislation that a driver must not drive with a person or animal in the driver's lap. This is Road Rule 297 (1A) Drive motor vehicle with person or animal in lap. Dogs riding on the back of an open vehicle must be restrained or enclosed in such a way that they cannot fall off. If tethered, this should be to a short chain attached by a swivel to a central anchor point on the floor behind the cabin. The other end of the chain should be attached to the dog's collar by another swivel to prevent tangling. A driver must not drive with a person or animal in the driver's lap. The rider of a motorbike must not ride with an animal on the fuel tank. This does not apply to a person who travels less than 500 metres for the purposes of farming. To view the complete road rule please click on the below link to find Road Rule 297 which relates to your enquiry: http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/viewtop/inforce/subordleg+179+2008+fn+0+N Regards Amanda

I am not a terrier person and even I have noticed this when watching the terrier group. I've also noticed that some judges make it clear what their views on Tenterfields are while judging the breed too. Stuff like shrugging shoulders and disdainfully pointing with half their back turned. I assume it must annoy the Westie people too because they are stuck behind you in the age classes! Hi, Unfortuately not every judge has a 'poker face' ......... BUT......I think this comes down to just plain bad manners, superior attitude and/or poor judges training when it comes to how you conduct yourself in the show ring. If alot more judges made an effort to judge every dog with a pleasant attitude towards both the Breed, the dog in front of them and handler, I think you would re-enter under these people even if the result wasn't totally all your way.

Hi, I have checked the NSWRTA site and the only rules I can find are about not driving with a dog in your lap........they do have a contact email where you can ask questions.......maybe try that. Cheers
