Hi, Put pup in the car and go nowhere, give it a treat, do this a few times........short trips with a empty stomach........and what I've done with my new pup, who is VERY food driven, I put him in hin crate in the car with a large bone, which keeps him busy for at least 20mins, so I can get to Erskine Park and Castle Hill with no vomitting

Hi, Something I forgot to add to my OP is, dont trim the end of the tail for showing........I keep the hair natural, which also helps to protect the tip.

Hi, Pointers do this all the time........I had one which had the last joint removed, this still looked like a tipped tail......but didn't hinder her in the ring at all, she was a multi class in Group, Royal CC and Speciality winner. One other dog I had that would continually whack the end of his tail and would then open it up and spray blood everywhere........I taped a hard plastic hair roller onto the end of his tail......this meant it wasn't enclosed in a moist bandage which made the skin soft.......he did try to chew the roller off, so I smeared chilli paste on it.......I had to to this for about 4 weeks but the tail healed well and I also stop the over the top greetings I would get when he came inside by teaching him to sit

many breeds have "lists" on Yahoo and members post results regularly .... in my breed results are posted every weekend from all over the country ... it's a great resource... Hi That they do......but there is no search on a judges name as to what they have awarded and where......the info goes to the controlling bodies, if the info was recorded and made available...it would be a one stop shop.....and a even better, easier to use resource

Hi, This has also made me think....... that as the results of each show do get sent to the controlling body (in NSW they do) it would be great if the results were available on their website. I would love to see both CC's and all the group awards for each show be it AB, Group or Specialty with also a search facility where you can enter a judges name and see what shows they judged and their results. I know this will never happen.....as they would say too much work.

Hi, I do exactly the same as SSM......with puppies I'll give the judge a second go with the same dog as an adult.....though if they were clearly off the mark I wont bother......I also troll the DOL results for my breed and keep a note as to the dogs and judges that have gone through group.....sometimes this helps with whether a judge is user friendly to the breed or only putting up a particular type

Hi, I'll answer your question and keep it simple......but suggest you read through the Show Regulations that can be downloaded off the DogsVic website Championship Show - offer Challenges, which award points toward a Championship title Open Show - No Challenges Sweepstakes - a class where dogs and bitches compete together under a certain description eg 3 - 6 months Sweepstakes held at an All Breed Show....is for any dog/bitch of any Breed that is between 3 - 6 months old. There is also 6-12months Sweepstakes Shows can be All Breeds - open to any ANKC reg breed.......Group, eg Gundog Show, Only Gundogs can enter........or Breed Shows eg Labrador Club, only Labradors can enter Most ppl enter their dogs age class and if a pup Sweepstakes.....its totally up to you......but I would suggest you go and have some handling lessons, that way you will also learn hown to train your dog for the ring.
