  1. Hey Fran - I look the lowest price I could find into JB HiFi and they matched it - it came down by just over $200 at the time - maybe they will price match for you Good luck
  2. I've handled the D5000 as a friend bought one a little while ago .... its ok but feels odd compared to my D90 (but that may be a personal preference), its certainly smaller in size but he seems to be happy with it .... If it was me, I'd try to find the extra cash and go the D90 with the twin kit lenses ..... then hit Ebay for a 50mm later on .... I love my D90, its comfortable to hold, easy to use and I've had it since they hit the shelves in October 2008 and its brilliant (it was my first DSLR) ....
  3. From training yesterday Pixie Jazz my Morty & Archie
  4. Oh he is very very lovely and his name is fabulous! My obsessive and needy (NOT! ) GSP's send zoomies and greetings
  5. Ok Ness you got me too ..... I'm ordering an Apple and a Talc version - 1 dog wasn't so smelly, 2 dogs and I'm really noticing it .... thanks !!!!
  6. the thread is still there but the story itself has been removed by the OP thread - http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;hl=Lithuanian
  7. We have a 9yr old Oriental Shorthair ... he was a single pet for 7years so he didn't adjust to us bringing Morty home very well but he's handled having Archie home (who's now 5mths old) reasonably well.... They don't really interact as such - Talin (the cat) sticks to the high places and stays mainly in the computer room when the dogs are in the rest of the house .....
  8. The dogs don't start the night on the bed - they sleep in their crates in the bedroom ... when we take the little one out for a toilet break (around 3am) he then goes into the big one's crate for a few more hours of sleep .... then its breakfast at 530am and they are fed separately (big one out in the back room and the pup in the kitchen) - so the humans get to go back to bed for another hour before getting up for work in which time the pup usually climbs up onto the bed after his breakfast for another snooze .... At night whomever is the first into bed gets the company of 2 GSP's, the last one in gets to kick them off and into their crate Oh and the cat sleeps in the bed under the covers, usually behind my OH's knees or on my pillow (if it is warm) .....
  9. Archie 12/52 and a couple of spares
  10. Morty 11/52 (like Chester modeling a Ruthless Collar & lead) Archie - still uploading
  11. Sorry I can't answer on the poll - I feed both morning and night and I have 1 over 12mths and 1 under 12mths (poll will only allow you to make single choices)
  12. Ours arrived in Newcastle early last week (Tuesday I think it was)
  13. thanks for the opinions everyone - I just find this really interesting .....
  14. I lost a couple of weeks for poor Morty 10/52 But Archie is up to date I think considering how long we have had him for 11/52
  15. I was discussing this with my OH yesterday as he has always been in the minority (gender wise) when in Obedience or Agility classes .... I don't really understand why this is the case as sports like Agility are very active & fast paced so really should attract more men to them than they currently do? I go to Agility and Obedience trials to watch and to expose our 2 dogs to the atmosphere in preparation for trialing in the future and women outnumber men all the time .... Are dogs no longer man's best friend but woman's? (that was said tongue in cheek in case anyone didn't get the bad joke ) edited to add: we live in Newcastle and our local Obedience school is quite large - couple of hundred dogs there today on the field at a guess for basic obedience classes (it was enrollment day for the month) .... but men definitely make up less than 1/2 of the attendees and in our beginners Agility class, my OH is the only male ....
  16. Sardines are good cause the tinned version has the skin and bones still in it - so lots of calcium and other minerals ... tuna would be fine but you do need to keep an eye on the deep sea fish as they can have higher mineral levels than coastal fish (usually also cause they live longer and are larger in size) .... we feed all kinds of fish to the boys at least once a week so tuna gets its turn in the rotation but usually in fresh form rather than tinned (we really only feed sardines tinned).... If you're feeding tinned fish I'd go with the spring water as the oil they use doesn't tend to be a really good quality oil in the cheaper tins ....
  17. oh dear ..... I'd blame the possoms for the scratches and throw away the numberplate and play dumb "I don't know, when was the last time you saw it?" and pretend like it must have fallen off on his travels somewhere So Emma still has her nautiness happening then .... she's an adult isn't she? 3 or 4 years or age by now..... I don't remember if you were or had seen a trainer for some 1:1 time but maybe this is the trigger for that to happen ..... maybe contact Steve at K9Pro for a couple of sessions? (oh and yes we need photos of the dog most definitely! )
  18. if you change the original link a little bit it works try this version instead http://www.traffordphotos.com/SydRoyal2010/
  19. he is a lovely boy - I'm also voting GSP x Pointer ..... your boy and mine are about the same age (mine is 19 weeks) - so please come and share your photos on the GSP thread, we have a few babies growing up at the moment and its lovely to see them changing ..... give him a big cuddle from us all ....
  20. Yup thanks Ash - woo hoo I was hoping I was getting the gist of this challenge - although I wish I had taken the Ridgie girl one with more room to the left of the shot - I think she needs more distance to follow her eye gaze if that makes sense ... it seems a little short when I look at it ....
  21. Our older boy was 19mths old when Archie came home .... the size difference was massive so they were kept separate when we weren't around and heavily supervised when we were around but they loved each other - it took several weeks for Morty to settle down though as every morning it was like he was in heaven finding another dog living in his home, wherever Archie went Morty would follow and he was right there with him at all times ... on the good side of things - he told us when Archie needed to go to the toilet and was a great mentor showing him how to do things, he also helped get Archie used to car travel so quickly (Morty is and always was brilliant in the car and now Archie is exactly the same) .... we felt bad cause we put Morty outside a lot more once Archie arrived just to give Archie some 1:1 time with us and if the play got too energetic, Morty normally spent the evening inside on the lounge with me but he started spending more time outside or in the back room, then we put in baby gates and that solved a lot of problems ... now Archie is older they both are inside on the lounge with me of an evening Archie is now 19 weeks old and a lot bigger, still kept separately during the day as they will play rough if not stopped but they will sleep with each other (where they are now) and cuddle up with each other if given a chance we are conscious though of giving them both time with us as individuals, we train them separately and walk them both together (the 4 of us) but also alone sometimes ...
  22. Taken at the beach this morning, she was such a lovely girl & my youngest GSP on his first trip to the beach and I can't explain why his face looks like this - just that he is only 18 weeks old and he was having a ball with the other dogs (including this older GSP he just met)
  23. Thanks BF I'm know that different parts of a plant or tree can be poisonous to a dog (or cat, human etc) but just as an example if it is just the fruit that is dangerous and it fruits for 2months out of 12 every year and you can keep the dogs away from it then many would prefer to do that than cut down an tree ..... leaves, flowers and seeds are of course more difficult due to being carried by the wind but its not impossible to manage - many people who rent don't have the luxury of being able to cut down tree's or remove multiple plants in the backyard and have to make do with other strategies....and even if you don't rent, being able to section off parts of the yard using garden panels, dog runs, temporary fencing etc may be the option that many people choose over removing trees .....
  24. can you not section that area off from the dog?
