Both mine were probably miffed that we didn't take them to the foreshore with us. They usually come out the front with me I'm the evening when there are fireworks going off at the football stadium or the showground (all within easy walking distance of our place) and watch them together.... They seem to write enjoy them.

Thinking about doing it this year with Morty .... if not this year then 2012 ....

just an aside (no advice on dog breeds from me) I think whatever dog you bring home is going to have an awesome life with your kids if that is what your family is wanting from the dog in fact my two boys want to know if they can come and visit

Yes that's him. He saved my dog, literally! Archie was diagnosed at under six months of age with very rare especially due to his age and highly aggressive iris melanoma. We expected him to at the very least loose his eye from it (and it was possible had it spread that we could have lost him) but Cameron not only saved the eye but my boy actually has vision in that eye. Considering the melanoma took more than half the iris in one eye so the lasers had to be very aggressive it wad nothing short of a miracle in skill that Cameron did. Cannot sing the praises of him any more if I tried! and the staff there are brilliant.

Lol we will be there on Friday for Archie s appointment with Cameron (hoping for the all clear on his iris melanoma) I can't wait to see the place after visiting the Sth Strathfield one quite a few times this year

The calendars are for sale at cost - there is/was no profit made. There are a few on that site that are raising money for rescue that were added more recently. There is one done by the members of the GSP thread that raises money for breed rescue - look for the seller dolgsplovers and you will find our calender there.

my boys sleep inside so they go out early for a run around the back yard, then breakfast then maybe a 15minute walk each depending on the time and if we are running late for work - otherwise they are back inside on the bed whilst we get ready to head off to work ... during the day they are in the sunroom aka dog room with some toys, beds and pretty much they sleep and lounge all day (this has been their routine since they come home) - I work an 8-9hr day usually so when I get home they go out to toilet then they are with us till bedtime (they sleep in the bedroom in crates) - they may go for an evening walk, we may hit the dog beach (10 minutes from home and a fabulous trip out during summer), agility or obedience training for Morty or obedience for Archie ... depends on the evening ... Weekends they are with us unless we have to go somewhere they can't come - ie shopping or restaurant ... we may visit family (they come along to play with the other dogs), go to the beach again, we may go to training or the markets ....

I wouldn't be too concerned about that... most fish oil tablets are made from small fish (anchovies or sardines etc) - these guys are at the start of the foodchain in terms that they are the smaller species that everything eats .. its the larger fish like tuna, swordfish and shark (so fish that eat other fish and swim in deeper waters) that tend to have the higher mercury levels that you need to be careful of .... whilst smaller fish do have mercury levels (fish oil tablets that are derived from salmon are farmed salmon unless specified as wild salmon and they are generally the most expensive ones on the market) but again unless you are consuming a bucket load of tablets there is little to be concerned about unless you are a small child or pregnant and then you would just need to be cautious about how much and what type of fresh or canned or fish oils you were taking and where it comes from (fresh fish from around Australia is generally fine across the board as we have fairly low mercury levels in our oceans) ....... my boys are on 2 Fish Oil capsule every day and 1 Vit E every day with it and a tin of sardines (in brine) every 3 days with their chicken frames for dinner .... seems to keep them in good coat and I'm giving it to them for longer preventative reasons being large breed dogs

hmmm let me see .... puchase kitten 11yrs ago - bring kitten home and kitten sleeps in own area in amazing crate with toys and bedding etc for the first 2 nights - I got to work a night shift and come home to find kitten in bed with OH all night and has continued every night since then ... jump forward 9yrs to Morty and 10mths ago with Archie - both boys sleep in their crates/beds in our bedroom ... in the early morning Morty usually gets up onto the bed for a sneaky snuggle and after breakfast Archie joins in with whomever is still left in the bed ..... Yeah it means we wash our sheets every couple of days rather than weekly, yeah it means that I vaccum more often than if they were outside but the benefits outway the problems a gazillion times over

My two GSP boys live with a cat, the dogs love the cat but the cat wishes the ground would open up and swallow the dogs so he can go back to being the only animal in the house . lol the boys are ok with each other until Talin runs them they will chase but never catch and they will all sleep together if the have to. My boys are affectionate and a joy to be around they are fast learners and real sookie la las I really like the Vis as well but the GSP has stolen my heart

She's just making excuses as to her dogs poor recall - don't worry about it, as long as you're not throwing them about, trying to have a picnic in the centre of the designated dog park or feeding other people's dogs then you're fine

I'm another happy Petplan customer - my oldest boy (2.5yrs) has been insure with them since he came home with the free 8 week breeders cover they offer which we just continued with - so far (touch wood) we've not had to make as single claim for him My youngest boy (almost 12mths old) has been insured since he came home to us as well and 1 week after the waiting period was over he was diagnosed with an Iris Melanoma and he has since had almost $3000 in claims (CT scans, x-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests all prior to the Diode Laser treatment) - they paid for everything, quickly, easily, no fuss - at the time we were really stressed as it seemed at the very least our boy would be blind after the treeatment, worst case was that he would be put down as the cancer had spread... I couldn't have stood for any added stress and they didn't add any at all - they were brilliant (end result is that he still is with us, still has his eye and amazingly enough (due to the phenomenal skill of his Opthamologist) has vision still remaining in that eye and he got the first all clear 10 weeks after surgery and is going for his 6mthly checkup in December) I was going to change to PIA before we got Archie home as they offered a discount for 2 dogs together - I contacted them 8 times, each time I got the answering machine, left them a message and I only got 1 returned phone call - when she called me back she left the general switch number again and when I called back I once again got the answering machine - this went on for a week with only that single returned call... I tried emailing them - sent 3 emails, got 1 back - a very curt and (I felt) rude response, it didn't answer any of my questions in the body of the email just attached me the policy document and basically told me to read that and if I had any questions to call them to discuss it over the phone (even though I'd written that I'd already tried that and appreciated that they must be busy and thought that corresponding via email may work better for them) - so I gave up and kept Petplan and took it out for Archie when he came home ... best decision I ever made!

at 9 weeks of age mine were falling all about the place and getting those huge paws caught up left right and centre! - heck at 9mths of age my youngest GSP will still go butt over head and tangle his paws every now and again .... if the vet says there is nothing wrong I'd just keep him off running hard on slippery surfaces and stop comparing him to his litter mates - its just more stress for you if another one is maturing faster than yours is ... although a nearly complete adult coat at 9 weeks of age seems (and keeping in mind I don't know your breed at all really) surprising?

that's exactly what I first thought of when reading the OP ..... Morty, Archie and Talin would be with us either way We had this situation in the Newcastle floods on the July long weekend a few years back - at the time it was just the OH, I and Talin (they boys hadn't joined us by that stage) - every house down the street to the left of us was under water, the road was flooded to 1m above the ground and water was lapping at the front door and the underside of the floor boards of our (on piers) home - everyone to the left had been evacuated to higher ground and we were about to go ourselves - so we had Talin in a crate with extra food and body harness and lead (just in case) along with a bag of spare clothing for us .... luckily the flood waters didn't get any higher and our house didn't go under like all our neighbours places did .... but Talin was the first thing we packed that night when we got our orders to get ready to go ....
