  3. Mort was harnessed for the drive home from the breeders and he was a few days short of being 8 weeks old ... he's never traveled in a small crate with us ... Forgot to add, Mort is a GSP pup so is a large breed... on top of that he is a big pup - at 7.5 weeks he was 5kg and now at 11 weeks he is 10.5kg so he is a lot bigger than many pups out there...
  4. I just bought it at the local Pet Stock store ..... it was in the section with the shampoo's, conditioners and coat enhancing products
  5. Mort uses a car harness in the back seat - I bought 2 sizes originally a Small and a Large - we had the Small one on the tightest setting when we brought him home from the breeder 3.5 weeks ago and he has grown out of the Small one and is now using the Large one (but again on its tightest setting) .... I thought the Large one should be the right size for him when he is fully grown ... right now he is just over 11 weeks old... but he is a big boy so I'm thinking he might end up in the XLarge one at some stage .... He makes a couple of grumbles at the beginning but settles quickly down and sleeps for the journey .... and he only goes on the back seat
  6. no just the bottle - I think I'm a little scared of what I might see if I use a blacklight
  7. Hey VJB - I'm just impressed you can get Heidi to recall .... Mort is of the opinion that things we say are "suggestions" rather than "commands" at the moment OT - but I think we need an update photo or to in the GSP thread, Heidi must have grown a bit recently!
  8. Much better - tooo cute! ;)
  9. I'm sure you are cleaning it very well - its just that you're probably not using the right tools for the job .... most commercial cleaners don't remove the scent and until you do that then it will always be there..... ermmmmm.......... we are almost at the end of the page and there has been a definite absence of photographs of this lovely pup!
  10. Hi Sarah (your pup is adorable BTW) - I would suggest making the crate only with bedding. I have an 11 week old pup here at home and although we bought the larger sized crate it is only his bed ... we partitioned it off so that he had enough room to stand up, turn around and lie down ... as he has grown we have increased the size of the accessible section of the crate ... this way there is no confusion for him - crate = bed only... food, drink and toilet happen elsewhere .... Are you also cleaning his "mistakes" up with a proper cleaner? - I found that the normal carpet cleaners just weren't working - he was always having accidents in the same place - last weekend we bought some "Urine off" and sprayed the area - since the spray we have had no mistakes at all ... if there is even the smallest amount of scent in that area he will be able to smell it and think thats his toilet area ... To get Mort to pee on command (which he almost has gotten down pat) we took him outside after every drink, every bit of food, every big play session, we watched him constantly for the nose down sniffing and running in circles behaviour and got him outside as soon as that started ... when he did a wee outside we stood there saying "do wee's" over and over again, when he did one he got a treat (high reward level kind of treat which for Mort is a piece of cabanossi) .. we kept doing this and now we can take him outside and its only 10-30 seconds before he will do a wee ...... We also chose not to go the newspaper path cause of any possibility with confusion, what we did though (cause Mort is inside whilst we are at work) is to buy a length of fake grass - we put that in the corner of the puppy room on a sheet of plastic and he goes there during the day when we are not home ... when we are home he goes outside - obviously there is a difference between fake and real grass but it was closer than what I thought between newspaper and grass .... Oh and more pictures please! he is soooo sweet! - oh and whats the little one's name?

    Angus

Oh Danois I am so very very sorry Run far, run fast and run free Angus ....
  12. I love both ranges and use both - however there are a lot more Bush Flower Essences than Bach's and as such is a lot more expensive to buy a whole kit of them .... I find that the Bush Flower Essences give a bigger "kick" for me than the Bach's but others feel the opposite ... it really does depend on the individual and sometimes I'll use some from both ranges in a mix that I make depending on the client... Easiest way though to buy a basic rescue remedy is a health food store - you should be able to buy it either as a dropper bottle or as a spray
  13. Is it wrong that I want those shoes? The photos are beautiful everyone but I really love those shoes
  14. Maybe I can help, I'm a Herbalist and as part of studying for our qualifications (its a 3-4yr full time process) we did some subjects on Homeopathy (personally I wasn't much of a fan but many in my class at the time were and continue to be) .... I don't practice it myself (my preferred method of treatment is with herbal tinctures rather than homeopathic preparations - thus the reason I studies herbalism ) but I would suggest that Homeopaths are like Herbalists - we cannot state that we "cure" anything - the word "cure" is carefully guarded by the mainstream Medical community, we can "treat" "support" and "work" with clients but we can not state that we can "cure" something .... semantics really but the word "cure" is like "diagnose" are are technically off limits to us...
  15. Oh Goodness Harminee - thank you thank you thank you so very much! ... we've been away for a week on holidays so thats why I didn't thank you earlier! Off now to get my picture sorted!

  18. We are picking up our new puppy next weekend, we've not been asked for a deposit but have provided the breeder with a lot of information about us before she decided that we could give a home to one of her puppies.... I was asked to provide information on things like - yard size and security, plans for when the pup first comes home, family situation, pet ownership history, training and future goals for the pup ... I ended up writing out almost like a resume of us and our family and sending it down and it was a great experience to go through cause it just cemented the fact that we really did want this pup and we really could provide it with the home it deserves.... Our breeder had more requests than what she had pups for so its quite a thrill for us to be offered one.... (and 1 week to go!)
  19. I am so sorry, 4 is so young! .....
  20. here is that link http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...mp;hl=Newcastle I forgot to add that we'll be doing the puppy pre-school with our Vet in Hamilton, I went in and spoke at length to the girl that runs the classes and was very happy with what she told me ...
  21. Hi! There was a thread a while back about puppy preschools and classes in the Newcastle area and there was some discussion around vets in it as well... I'll try to dig up the link for you ... I paid quite an amount of attention to that as we are waiting for our new pup to arrive and I'm in Newcastle - so it was good timing... There are Obedience classes are at Hillsborough every Sunday, I think from memory you enroll on the first Sunday of the month then classes are every weekend after that (someone correct me if I'm wrong) You must be so excited to finally get your Frenchie! - how long have you been waiting? I've heard that they have some seriously long waiting lists for them Ok off to find that link for you Fiona
  22. The standard directions for humans clients (ie what we write on the bottles) is for it to be taken with water or juice - it needs to be diluted so that people will take it (otherwise it just often tastes toooo strong! and tinctures are more often than not on an alcohol base).... its done this way so that absorption into the body can easily begin to occur through the mouth right from the start.... The way were were trained is that yes there is always an "ideal" way of doing things however the most important thing is that the patient (4 legs or 2) complies and actually takes the tincture to begin with, When I'm treating those with 4 legs I either dilute it into their drinking water (if the flavour is mild enough) or mix into food - it makes compliance sooo much higher..... If there is something that I want to directly administer I make sure I have a high flavour treat on hand and pop that in right after the mixture is administered..... Fiona edited for spelling and cause I sounded wayyy too formal in the first paragraph
  23. I'm a Herbalist for humans (at the moment but I'm building up my experience with animals) and I would still use the pharmaceutical treatments for things like heartworm... I know I can get good results for a lot of holistic treatments (in both animals and humans) but there are just some things I would want to be certain of... Personally, I believe that the holistic treatments I use work really well in conjunction with mainstream intervention, I treat naturally for some things but have regular vet checks, vaccinations and pharmaceutical intervention where its required... I just make sure I keep my vet in the loop especially when I'm treating something long-term - I look at it like my relationship with my Dr, she knows what I do and take so what she can do works together with what I am doing and that's what I recommend my clients do as well.... Edited: to add a bit more
  24. When I was at the vets on Tuesday night with my cat there was a dog waiting to be seen that the staff had commented on as having Kennel Cough....his owners said that he had been boarded locally for a few days when they had been away the week before - poor boy sounded terrible ...... edited - for clarification cause my brain wasn't working properly the first time
