  1. Wow, just gorgeous, mim. They are so expressive!
  2. Could you not twist her arm about getting a male, persephone  BSD rescue NSW has Burt & Rex in care. They both fit the bill :D Sally is happy to do interstate adoptions. Unfortunately there are no females fitting the criteria in care at the moment.
  3. Out of office until middle of next week, so don't hold your breath! Have managed to contact this couple, they are returning on Monday & plan to give Andrew a call. :)

  5. I know of a couple looking for a bonded pair of low maintenance dogs. It is an excellent home - Max & Lucy may well suit, so I will forward the advertisement :)
  6. gillbear, hopefully someone has PMed you by now, but Lab rescue NSW/ACT are here on DOL. http://www.dolforums.com.au/user/26579-lab-rescue-nswact/
  7. dogmad, Emeraldcity Cairns are located in Queanbeyan. If you need any assistance I am sure Ginette would be open to you contacting her. I think Ginette was with ARF a very long time ago; Raelene or baz would probably remember. :) ETA Contact details for Emeraldcity in breeders listings on DOL.
  8. I have to agree about Joe, this one is exquisite! http://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/151531955/let-me-draw-portrait-of-your-pet-custom?ref=listing-shop-header-0 ETA Have a look at the last view, where the photograph of the model is shown.
  9. lLoks like Abbey will be reacquainting herself with the Lodge
  10. You have hit the nail on the head, Sheilaheel! Jan is the only community vet left in Canberra since Peter Burgess retired; charging & advocating treatment in acknowledgement of an owner's income, recognising the value of a companion animal to someone who is down on their luck or homeless. You know with horses here in the Canberra area we are literally held to ransom. I used to work at the big practice on the Barton Hwy & I know how they operate. The only other option is fast becoming like them.
  11. Maybe they were legit & marking underground cables? If anyone parks outside our property or along the lane, I make a point of noting down the details of the vehicle including rego & politely ask them if they need help.
  12. Frontline won't work. You need to administer Ivomec. You can buy the liquid horse drench & dose orally 1ml per 50kg, ie 0.5 ml per 25kg. The product has a wide safety margin so don't get too panicky about overdosing, you can use an insulin syringe to measure smaller volumes. Dose once per week for four weeks. This works quicker & more effectively than Revolution.

    Raiden

I too stalked the puppy thread. Raiden bought so much joy to many in such a short life. Too beautiful to stay in this world, eternally young at the bridge Take care of yourself Lhok, my thoughts are with you.
  14. I have found an etsy link too: http://www.etsy.com/shop/HoundsofBath?ref=seller_info_count featuring more whippets, a saluki & a flying Afghan :)
  15. You don't need to soak VAN for 24 hours. 10 hours is heaps of time, & if you forget, you can soak in warm to hot water to expedite the process & leave for just a couple of hours.
  16. Thanks for that link, Kirislin! My niece in UK has a Beddie/ Whippet/ Collie lurcher, I might get her one for Christmas :)
  17. Maree, why don't you put Zipp on the poster network & put available for cost of desexing?
  18. I would diasgree with this having had a dog with a long term, persistent cough. We tried different ABs, they would work for a while, then the cough would return. Having bitten the bullet for a chest X ray to have a look at the heart & lungs, the tube when withdrawn after the anaesthetic had some mucous attached. We sent this away for a culture & when put on the specific antibiotic to which the bacteria was sensitive, the dog fully recovered & the cough was banished forever!
  19. Hope someone has taken advantage of your kind offer
  20. Lukius, Andrea from Companions for Life is a Maremma rescuer. If these people need help finding a home, put them in touch with Andrea, she is in the Blue Mountains area. companionsforlife.com.au
  21. It must have been a great relief to have secured her freedom It was an even greater relief when her behavioural assessment showed she was perfectly rehomeable & hadn't gone stark raving mad. Naturally she was very territorial, but she found a home with a knowledgeable family & became a best mate to a blind dog. I cried when she was diagnosed with mammary tumours at the age of 10, but she is still hanging in there, she is a tough old bird
  22. This is a subject close to my heart. A few years ago I negotiated the rescue of an 8yo kelpie bitch who had been chained without respite for 6 years & 7 months. Her 'home' was a wooden crate in a paddock, about 50 metres from a shearing shed & 100 metres from a little travelled road. She had no bedding, while her water & food were topped up a couple of days a week
  23. What about adding one of the supplements from k9Pro to a home cooked stew? Maybe there is something suitable here?
