Thanks for sharing Kirislin, Silver Chief was a prepotent sire, he always stamped his mark on his get. Did you breed anymore foals from Lady Cynthia?
-
He is a Thoroughbred. His sire is Dream Ballad, a non-commercial stallion whose progeny are doing exceptionally well. Dream Ballad is a half brother to Tie The Knot, a champion racehorse trained by the late Guy Walter. The dam is unraced & has not yet had any progeny to race. We have her second & third foals, 2yo & yearling respectively.

I'll join in, gapvic :D Admittedly it does get quite arduous in the depths of Winter & I must admit I think I missed four weeks over the whole year, but it has made me get the camera out & do more photography. I will probably choose the same theme as this year - whatever life throws at me! Week 1 29/12 - 04/01 Week 2 05/01 - 11/01 Week 3 12/01 - 18/01 Week 4 19/01 - 25/01 Week 5 26/01 - 01/02 Week 6 02/02 - 08/02 Week 7 09/02 - 15/02 Week 8 16/02 - 22/02 Week 9 23/02 - 01/03 Week 10 02/03 - 08/03 Week 11 09/03 - 15/03 Week 12 16/03 - 22/03 Week 13 23/03 - 29/03 Week 14 30/03 - 05/04 Week 15 06/04 - 12/04 Week 16 13/04 - 19/04 Week 17 20/04 - 26/04 Week 18 27/04 - 03/05 Week 19 04/05 - 10/05 Week 20 11/05 - 17/05 Week 21 18/05 - 24/05 Week 22 25/05 - 31/05 Week 23 01/06 - 07/06 Week 24 08/06 - 14/06 Week 25 15/06 - 21/06 Week 26 22/06 - 28/06 Week 27 29/06 - 05/07 Week 28 06/07 - 12/07 Week 29 13/07 - 19/07 Week 30 20/07 - 26/07 Week 31 27/07 - 02/08 Week 32 03/08 - 09/08 Week 33 10/08 - 16/08 Week 34 17/08 - 23/08 Week 35 24/08 - 30/08 Week 36 31/08 - 06/09 Week 37 07/09 - 13/09 Week 38 14/09 - 20/09 Week 39 21/09 - 27/09 Week 40 28/09 - 04/10 Week 41 05/10 - 11/10 Week 42 12/10 - 18/10 Week 43 19/10 - 25/10 Week 44 26/10 - 01/11 Week 45 02/11 - 08/11 Week 46 09/11 - 15/11 Week 47 16/11 - 22/11 Week 48 23/11 - 29/11 Week 49 30/11 - 06/12 Week 50 07/12 - 13/12 Week 51 14/12 - 20/12 Week 52 21/12 - 27/12 Interestingly, according to my diary, there is a week 53 in 2015 ..... so if any remaining participants are super keen there is Week 53 28/12 - 03/01/16 :)

I am ashamed to say this little colt hasn't got a proper name yet - OH & I can't agree  Of course, being male he was late - took the full 365 days before he ventured into the world!

Old Male Foster Dog - Urinary Incontinence
trifecta replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Dogmad, I would give corn silk a go..... it is beneficial for urinary problems & I see no reason why it wouldn't work on males. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/256975-older-bitch-spay-incontinence/ -
DeltaCharlie, do you not remember Dimmitrol? This was the first heartworm preventative before the monthly ones came out.
-
Wow, BC Crazy, thanks for reporting back It is awesome that we now have three out of three as a success rate in this thread - I know it's such a small number but maybe it will enourage others to try it & report back :D

Bumping for Dame Danny's Darling: Still on the corn silk & still dry....... 7 months now

I know your cases are different being males, but have a look at this topic: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/256975-older-bitch-spay-incontinence/page__p__6472717#entry6472717 Indian corn silk (zea mays) is a herbal remedy for bladder infections, inflammation of the urinary system, inflammation of the prostate, kidney stones, and bedwetting. It may be worth a shot, especially as it is only $7.50 a packet, which lasts for two or three months. ETA Just realised that one of your dogs is a female. I buy the tea from a health store, it is this brand Hilde Hemmes Herbal Teas. I would try it on both of them, it can't hurt :)

I must admit I am confounded by the health of the dogs owned by one of our clients..... all three are fed a vegetarian diet save for a marrow bone enjoyed on a Saturday morning. Apparently our local vet commented upon their health & vitality at their last annual check up & asked what they were being fed.... he was shocked to learn that they are principally vegetarian Two of the dogs are in their early teens, the third is only just out of puppyhood but has been supplemented with additional meaty bones.

This is exactly what I've been telling myself and am so very grateful that someone else would echo the same sentiment. Thank you so much

Raw Feeding Meat And Bones Only?
trifecta replied to CrazyCresties's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Garlic is anti-fungal, antiviral & antibiotic without affecting the good bacteria in the gut. Parsley is a rich source of antioxidants, folic acid & vitamin C. It also contains vitamin A. It helps the body to eliminate toxins & stimulates appetite. The rolled oats in VAN are not cooked, you just soak them. You know, if you really want to replicate VAN you could buy whole oats (fed to horses) from a stock feed place & soak as they are the harder grains in VAN which pass through the digestive tract whole. -
Raw Feeding Meat And Bones Only?

juice, I agree with soaked rolled oats before flaxseed meal, or alternatively what I am doing now is adding some cooked green lentils with some grated, juiced or even lightly microwaved vegies. I cook up the lentils on the weekend, divide into portions & freeze. A friend of mine buys bags of frozen diced carrots & peas adding some to the diet of her dog a couple of times a week. If you feel the dogs are missing out on vitamins & minerals then add the VAN Health Booster as a supplement - this is basically the powder contents of the bag of dry VAN mix. As regards your dally, the hard nuggets of faeces he is passing in his sleep indicates too much bone content in the diet. I have found with all my old dogs I had to back off bones a bit & feed more meat & softer foods. -
Hugs to you Pheebs, this insidious disease is a heartbreaker. As others have said you had no option, the cancer was already rampant. I would like to quote a paragraph from your opening post Pheebs, you have given Lucy freedom from pain & in return she has given her blessing for you to start a family. When you hold your newborn in the months to come, I have no doubt you will think of Lucy with the deepest love & affection..... those thoughts will be free of guilt & agony, although tinged with sadness. Rest easy dear Lucy
