FWIW I believe you have made the correct decision! I presume the breeder will be having other litters in the future? If so, he / she will be even more assured of you being a keeper for a future puppy

Rain and sleet in Bungendore at the moment, has been raining most of the night. However, it is snowing in Kowen Forest, 10 minutes to the west and sitting at a higher elevation. The sled dog people meet there on a Sunday morning, so they will be very happy! My sympathies to the poor people at the show.....stay warm and dry everyone!
-
Snow highly likely in Bungendore tomorrow or at least on the escarpment to the West with falls predicted down to 600m. It's going to be windy too, so while the maximum is forecast to be 6 degrees, the apparent temperature will be struggling to climb above zero...... so be prepared! Our biggest dumps of snow usually come in from the South-east, so I am not sure that there will be a lot of snow settling.

Just wanted to bump this topic in view of debbiew's enquiry. My older girl is still on corn silk tea twice daily and remains completely dry :D

I have had great success with Indian Corn Silk for older bitch spay incontinence. I advise a vet visit to rule out UTI, but have a read of this thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/256975-older-bitch-spay-incontinence/page__p__6472717#entry6472717 My girl is still dry after all this time using the tea :D

Thank you dogs life, that is very useful information. -
How can a thread that is 5 years old be resurrected ETA By the way we have our very own transport specialist on here...... wayrod. :)

Yes, huski is right, it is a common problem, & fixable too. However, it needs time & application. Only kirty knows if she is able to manage this. Kirty, from reading your posts recently, you have a lot on your plate...... dogs including a puppy, kids, possums in care, foster kittens, pocket pets & then there is work & running a household. Time to draw breath, I think! Time to prioritise tasks, you have a couple of dogs, puppy & Toby, who need some serious one on one time. This is in no way meant as criticism but as advice. You will work it out.....just take a step back & think about the best way forward.

The RSPCA are useless. The rangers in the ACT are far more proactive about animal welfare issues, but I would talk to the neighbour first as the dog may be sick as others have suggested.

Cowanbree, Teebs and parents..... Sorry no words, but sending you all strength

Thinking of you all.....and dear Benny. It is nearly three years since we lost our big boy to mandibular osteosarcoma. It is a particularly insidious cancer and it is uplifting to hear that Benny was like his old self when the pain meds kicked in. Sending you strength at this difficult time

Quick work HW  I clicked on the link & she was already gone!

Some species of white contain thiaminase when raw, which is an enzyme that breaks down thiamine (vitamin B1). It is destroyed by cooking but when active will break down thiamine from any food. Yes, that's what I was trying to think of! Thank you Rappie! Not parasites at all!
-
I haven't got time to research at the moment, but from what I remember my holistic vet told me, steer clear of raw white fish, although it is safe to feed cooked. Salmon and other types of oily fish are fine fed raw - I think it has something to do with a certain parasite which inhabits white species of fish? I am sure someone on here will know!

Not desexing does not constitute neglect, it contravenes the laws of the Territory Government.

sars, we are lucky to have a caring ranger at Qbn pound who goes above & beyond for impounded animals. Thanks Dogmad for being there if needed.

Bump for Lucy, due today :-(
-
There is a little Mini Foxie girl in urgent need in Queanbeyan pound. Lucy is 11 years old. The link is here http://www.qcc.nsw.gov.au/Council-Services/Animals/Animals-for-Sale I have been sent some further information about her: There isn't an active Queanbeyan thread up in Urgent at the moment - but Lucy has been tested by ARF. Her temperament test details are available from bazilybazbaz on DOL.
