Fevah, another thing that might be helpful is REALLY RELIABLE RECALL with Leslie Nelson - it's a DVD I got from "Dogwise" website. I'm in Adelaide & can lend it to you. Send me a message if you're interested.

I tried the method on my husband - scolding the floor (after he walked on it with dirty shoes) as I was mopping it - didn't work - he did it again the next day. I also tried scolding the 'stupid doors' which he keeps leaving open (he is from New Zealand & I've been told that people over there like big open spaces - I'm from Europe & I don't) - didn't work either.

Yes, I've got a thief at home as well. Rosie has one of those carry crates with windows that makes private little den - & if I'm missing something, like a sock, slipper or my son's teddy, I first check the crate.

You sound very much like what I'm looking for. Where can I find you?

Thank you so much for the recommendations... I didn't know where to turn... and for some reason, the groomer closest to me, called Laundromutt, didn't appeal...

I've never in my life used a groomer. I had a Doberman before - I used to wash him & brush him myself & he never needed nail clipping... Now I have a puppy that will be long haired (Tibetan terrier) & once she gets her undercoat I'll need to brush her a few times a week. This is fine - I enjoy brushing her but I'd like a professional groomer to teach me how to look after the hairy feet & clip nails - maybe also give me advice on the sort of combs & brushes I'll need. I think it would be good to introduce Rosie to a groomer early... Could someone please recommend a good groomer - sort of between Hallet Cove & Torrens Park. Thank you.

Sorry, the link didn't work for me Cashew.

Thank you Cavandra & DeltaCharlie - it's so encouraging that there are alternatives. I'd just like to add that in my opinion Delta managed to stay flea free although she was around infested dogs because she is healthy - with good imunity - and not because "fleas are attracted to the preservatives in processed food".

I have a three & 1/2 month old puppy & I haven't done anything yet about flea control. At our 12 week visit the vet gave me a sample of Frontline Plus - one of those pipetts you squeeze onto your dog's skin between shoulderblades. The vet wants me to administer this every couple of weeks. After reading safety instructions for the pesticide - which warns that it will irritate eyes & skin & to wash hands immediately - I couldn't bring myself to use it. My understanding is that anything vets will recommend for flea control is one kind of poison or another. I've read the pinned thread: "What your vet said about fleas" - now I'd like to start a thread about natural flea control. Apart from Erny's lemon & rosemary concoction are there any other experiences with natural flea control? Anybody? Somebody? Pleeeeese?! I've heard that if you feed your dog natural, preservative free diet, include right supplements, provide all around healthy lifestyle - you don't need any flea controlling chemicals.

To Clicker Or Not To Clicker?
Shoshana replied to Tatelina's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I started using the clicker only 2 weeks ago with my now 12 week old pup & it took the training to a new level. It's great. My Rosie is not a big eater otherwise (only weighs 3 kilos), so I use her meal worth of dog bisquits for rewarding. She prefers cheese, & swalows little bits more quickly but I don't want her to fill her tummy with cheese. Rosie loves clicker training & just seeing the clicker makes her COME to me, SIT & LIE DOWN, SIT & LIE DOWN over & over - thats all she knows for now. I'm surprised she doesn't add the WEE to the SIT & LIE DOWN show. :D -
The pup is Tibetan terrier & here is a photo: It's so difficult to take a good photo of a black dog. I hope I'll get better at it. Noodle seems to take good photos - he's so cute. Thanks for all the input everyone :D . I think I better take it serioiusly & not walk with Rosie until she's 16 weeks. By then she'll lget some obedience training at home & probably in the local Kennel club. I love the idea to use the "walks" to school for training...

My 7 year old son & 11 week old puppy play chasie very often - around the house, around the yard & on the way to school. We walk to school with 2 other children & the children love running & the puppy loves chasing after them. I heve the puppy on lead & run with her. Is this going to create problems for the future? I'm thinking - teaching Rosie to heel & walk nicely on the lead. She is due for her 2nd vaccination in a week & we'll start taking her to parks then. I'd appreciate advice from people more experienced then myself.
