Anyone would think the dog had to run the whole distance. Likely slept in a crate or trailer and jumped off, fresh as a daisy. I know he was bouncing around and bright eyed when I saw him yesterday. The travelling would be far harder on the humans than the dogs.

Caulfield Pet Expo Aka Lydnhurst & Metropolitan Ca
TessnSean replied to LizT's topic in General Dog Discussion
We went yesterday and raided the ATM before we went. Not a single thing that we could not buy from Petstock. Four Paws and more or Seb and Gloria. We were told all about the products and great deals and did not buy a thing except a coffee. -

That is a really lousy thing to do -
Boating Camping Fishing but they advertise as BCF. Took over JB Marine and rebranded their stores.

You would need to find out the gage on the Diamantina frame as it is nor in any product specs that I can find. The canopy is certainly heavier duty. 300D compared to 150D.

We have travelled up to 4 hours when there have been 3 shows and we could take extra time for a break. Our closest venue is Bulla and that is only 20 mins away.

Weren't the pointscores originally about increasing entries at dog shows? How does limiting the scoring to a certain number of shows help increase show entry? I do understand what you are trying to achieve but can see what the others are saying about less shows/lower numbers.

Thoughts On Campaigning Show Dogs...
TessnSean replied to Missymoo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I started at the very bottom in the horse world and am doing the same with my dogs. I bought my heart breed as a pet and was encouraged by her breeder to show her. 12 months later, I am waiting for her Australian Champion cert to arrive ;) The interesting thing that I have found is that it is harder to win under judges from my own state. Not that we have never won but when an interstate or overseas judge is handing out the awards, my heart dog is rarely beaten. When you see the judge in the gazebo of the winning dog straight after their ring finishes, it is a bit difficult to keep faith that it was not about friends putting up friends. Us horse people were more cunning. We rang each other - lol To be honest, I don't care either way. We have our weekends away, we camp, we meet new people and it keeps us away from the pokies Best of all, we have our little mates. The dogs we have ((yes, the number has grown) share the house and won't be going anywhere. Would I have started down the path of dog showing if I had read this post 12 months ago? Probably. Not because of any prizes. Because I enjoy doing something more than just work, home, work. -

Discouraging reading for someone who started showing dogs 12 months ago. -
I have 3 children and 4 GC so I can not be seen to be anti kid. One of the worst breaks we had away was when the very polite. well mannered child belonging to the people 2 units up, became our shadow for 3 days solid. Poke our nose outside the unit and she would be there. Talk, talk, talk play with the dogs talk, talk, talk, play with the dogs talk, talk, talk. I would never be an unfriendly and she was a sweet kid but while Mum was having lovely please herself time we entertained her polite, well mannered child. What about situations like ours spiff where we do have 3 dogs. Do you allow 2 in the room and one in the yard/trailer?

Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?
TessnSean replied to TessnSean's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think we were at the same show Capanash. The announcement said that they only have 5 people in the club and that entries will have to go $15 next year to pay the clean up fee from this year. We even pick up and get rid of mess whenever we see it. Many of these grounds get the honour of going on the grassed ovals. Imagine if you took a great catch in some cricket match and ended up face first in dog excreta? It is a real shame dog people give dog people a bad name. -

I am really curious to know the answer to this one. I can list you a dozen shows where announcements have come over the PA literally begging people to pick up after their dogs. Why should they even need to ask? Many of these shows are run by small clubs and as well as running the show these committees need to traipse around ovals picking up dog $#!@! What is so hard about carrying a bag when you walk your dog? I get so annoyed with irresponsible showies giving the rest of us a bad name.
