  1. I have an 8 yr old scottie who I adopted when he was 6yrs old. I can honestly say they are not the breed for everyone and would not suit most people. He is a very stubborn little dog and extremely strong for his size. I would not recommend them for the elderly or anyone who has young children due to their strength. If you are not careful when feeding him you will lose your fingers. I think he had learnt some bad behaviors during the 6 yrs before I got him and while he is great with my other dog and my cat, he can be a pain with strange dogs. Some he likes, some he doesn't and you never really know what you will get, although I think a lot of this is because he just gets overly excited when he sees another dog. During the day he prefers to be outside so that he can do his "fence patrol" every 10 minutes just to make sure nothing has changed. But at night he is like a cuddly teddy bear and will sleep in your lap all night. To me he is a high energy breed and suited to people on acreage or with large backyards and they really need a good long walk each day. While most of the time he is a delight to have, sometimes you really do wonder if there is a brain in there at all. I swear he feels no pain. He really is a large boisterous dog stuck in a small body.
  2. Go to a saddlery or horse store and buy some crib stop. If that doesn't solve the problem nothing will.
  3. Hi I have a 6yr old scottish terrier and a few days ago I noticed he has a raised red lump on the front of his leg which is aboout the half the size of a 5c peice. It is sore to touch, not fluidy but very solid. I have applied a poultice for a few days in case there was a foreign body but nothing has come out and I cannot see an entry site. Have now applied some yellow lotion I was thinking maybe an insect bite? It seems to have come up very quickly I would say about a wk. Any one have any ideas what it might be. If it's not better by Tuesday I think a trip to the vet might be in order.
  4. Face looks a bit like a Tibetan Spaniel to me
  5. No man will ever love you like your dog!
  6. That is completly unjustified and psychotic! I have 2 black dogs and a black cat!! So does that mean I have 3x the ammount of bad luck? What morons! LMAO though.
  7. First of all thatnks to everyone who commented and for all the great ideas. I have some material left over some patterns more than others. You can pick what you want and if you want double layered or single. The blue/pink zebra pattern is fleece but not polar fleece but the same warmth. I can also make the old fashioned ones with the strap under the belly as shown below. If there is a specific plain colour you would like let me know and I will do my best to get it for you. Please also let me know if it is for a boy/girl so I know what length to make the chest in the zip up kind. The measurements I need are just the length of your dogs body for the old fashioned kind and for the zip up I need body length, girth going right around the dog and neck circumference as well as from the back of the front leg to where you would like the chest coverage to stop. Once you message me with these details I will message you back with price depending on size (starting at $20) and if there is enough material. Hope this all makes sense. Again thanks for everyones support! You guys are great! http://motleymutt.com/images/sizing_illustration.jpg
  8. Yes they have a fur saver under the zip so your pets hair doesn't get caught. I can make them smaller in the chest for male dogs, these ones I made for my bitch so I wasn't worried about urine stains.
  9. Hi guys I have recently made some dog coats and am wanting some opinions. Basically would you buy them and how much would you pay? Also if you wouldn't buy them why not? They are double layered polar fleece with a zip up back so they cover the whole body/chest area for extra warmth. Thanks guys
  10. Personally I think the cop acted with no human decency. Yes the dog barked at him but it didn't look like it was going to attack him. Why wasn't animal control called? These dogs should not have been on the loose and the fawn one was certainly more "aggressive" than the other. Surely there could have been another way to grab the beagle and wait until animal control could come with a pole.
  11. Oh yes my Scottie loves watching t.v. Especially meerkat manor! Anything with dogs badgers etc even the zoo! It's quite funny to watch entertains him for ages.
  12. Maybe people who haven't worked behind the scenes need to take off their rose coloured glasses and go and volunteer there for a while and see what it's really like. The "general public" like them because they don't know the truth! I guarantee you if they did they would get no more community support.
  13. Maybe a ghost comes visiting you in the night?
